*THANK YOU* Jacob. I don't feel any questions i have about North Korea have been answered in this video 😞. Still, i would like to meet Yoeing Park {who answered some of the questions in this video}. *DON'T* want to go to North Korea until tourists are free to move around there like in today's China, and until I'm freely allowed to take my mobile phone in to North Korea & visit their starving farming families. 👨⚖️👣👩🌾🏚🇰🇵
Yeonmi I look up to you so much. You are such a brave soul and I hope that one day North Koreans can be free. I wish you and your family all the best and I hope one day to meet you in person and have you sign my copies of both your books.❤❤❤
Do you really think so? I am really disappointed with you. She is a big liar. She said that she lived rich in North Korea and said that she was poor ... Every time she said something different. Don't trust her. The next video is a scene in which Park Yeon-mi is living so richly in North Korea that she cannot believe what other North Koreans say. ruclips.net/video/qH6nUzWfTXU/видео.html. Do you know that person? Jacob's friend, a North Korean defector, was sued by publishers and the US government for false testimony ??
Couldn't agree more, Nick! I'm very happy both of you guys agreed to share your thoughts with me :) Can't wait to go on a trip with you when the time is right!
Means a lot to me, thank youuu! Actually that's the reason I created my new channel StayCurious: ruclips.net/channel/UC0jBnBmnJxHnwGOlXBvafHw - so that I would have a place to do only educational content. I really love making it and I'm very happy you enjoy watching it :)
Kim JongUn only allows you to see what he wants you to see about North Korea. I think the world needs to learn more about the real North Korea but hopefully reporters will be careful and stay safe while doing it 🧐🤨
There are documentaries of people illegally sneaking into the country side in the 1990s and taking video. There were homeless children eating from the dirt and illegal food markes in the woods. An Asian man was probably killed taking the video because he disapeared after that. I would give you a link but it is an illegally bootleged documentary and I don't want it taken down for copy rights
"In North Korea we have a saying that man is the sky and woman is the Earth, so they can never meet" thats messed up along with most things in that country..
Thank you guys so much for making this video and taking the time to answer my question, that means a lot to me. Jacob, all of your videos about North Korea have really taught me more than I could've ever imagined about the country, its history, and way of life. I think you may know already but just in case, I found your channel in the first place because of your North Korea video. The ongoing conflicts between the U.S. and DPRK were escalating and I was curious to know why and searched North Korea on RUclips and you came up. I then watched your South Korea video and the rest is history. I've thought about what it would be like to travel to North Korea and after watching all of your videos as well as Nick's, I feel that I already have. Your guys' content and knowledge was more than enough to allow me to join you on your journeys. I am not allowed to travel to North Korea because it's against the law if you're American and I agree with that law 100%. Some things aren't worth the risk. But nonetheless Jacob, your content on this country is professional and I honestly feel that if there's any place to go to where people can learn about it, it's your channels and Nick's. You get a mix of great camerawork and history lessons that just move you emotionally, to the point where you feel you're a part of it. #StayCurious
Thank you so much for bringing those things up here frequently. Your video make me think human right advocacy is much more powerful when noncitizen concerns about it. There is no such a time to attend to North Korea in the global society and at this time we need to discuss its recent changes including human right of its normal citizens no matter what.
Great video, thanks a lot! Just a smal suggestion if you are going to repeat the format: show the questions a bit longer. It happened twice that I had to go back to read the full question xD. One more thing regarding the dances in the park. I guess that this was staged, however, I made a very similar experience in Chengdu last year (people enjoying the themself by dancing in the park, something you would never see in Europe). It was not a tour or anything and there were only few tourists around. I even spoke with some locals in a tea bar later and they confirmed that this is part of their culture.
Thanks for sharing the video. I watched your video when you were traveling in North Korea. It seems that N. Korea is a fairly advanced country for the size of a closed country and is often reported that many of their people live in poverty. What do you mean that everything you saw during your trip in N. Korea is intentionally made to create a good impression for tourists ?
Hey Jacob, thanks to you I just recently read the incredible and heartbreaking book about Shin Dng-hyuk's story!I'm so interested in North Korea and now I even learned more! :)
We should always defend our God-given freedoms and human rights everywhere in the world. We can't allow governments to progress anywhere close to an almost North Korean oppression. Let's hope the regime collapses and finally grants millions of people fulfilling, self-guiding lives.
That question about whether they know they are oppressed, or whether they think the whole world is the same (or worse) as NK would be really interesting to get an answer to. They're told they live in the most progressive country under a god-like leader. I'd love to know how they really view the 'beloved leader' in private
Damn, for awhile now, I thought about going to North Korea to visit. It seems so surreal and bizarre that a backwards country stuck in time still exists, that I have to see it before it ever comes down. But, as a south Korean and American, I think that would be super risky. Like you said, there's much more political motive to do something bad to me while I'm there.
If someone hasn't heard abt Park.. Google her. You just have to hear her story, of how she fled North Korea. Especially after that - in-between (after fleeing) - and until she finally was safe. If that won't make you feel..a lot of things...nothing will! Cause that's a roller-coaster, I tell ya'll!
I admire Yeonmi Park's bravery and courage to seek freedom as well as tell her experiences of growing up in the reclusive state. Her recount reflects more on the grim reality of living there and the only way to lead a normal and dignified life with personal rights and responsibilities is to leave that miserable place. North Korea is a dystopia and probably a prerequisite of what the future New World Order be like.
Thank you so much for this video...We needed this update... I hope North Koreans get the freedom asap. It hurts to watch knowing that they had no idea how people outside of North Korea live.
No, it's not that straightforward. First of all, you will be seen as condoning the totalitarian repressive regime which eats its people literally all the way to their souls and sucks their happiness and willpower out of them. Secondly, you feel like you're participating in this dystopian nightmare and be fooled by the set ups propped up for tourists to see. The best is not to travel to North Korea. People also want to have a life and pursue their dreams and it doesn't help North Koreans by indirectly supporting their regime just because obedience is a good value. Where is the principal of when tyranny becomes law, revellion becomes duty. I thought we are not to obey unjust laws.
Later than when this video of yours was made, Yeonmi has btw built a very good RUclips channel of her own in the past few months. Might want to add a link to it: ruclips.net/user/YeonmiParkOfficial

Enjoyed the video. I just ordered "In. Order to Live". I've read a few other NK defector books and look forward to this one. I spent 2 years in South Korea in the military, so I got my own indoctrination about NK, so it's always eye opening to get a real perspective. The NK people deserve so much more. The South Korean people are wonderful and I just know the North Koreans are as well.

There are no signs of anything bad about the Country on her feed. I read Yeonmi Parks book and now watched your video. That instagram account is giving me the chills. And I wonder what is behind it. North Korea is North Korea. Only time can tell when the country will open to the world. I hope North Koreans can enjoy life as it should be enjoyed in the future.

Hello, Jacob! I couldn't imagine the regime was like that in North Korea - that the leaders are almost gods and one is not allowed to greet a friend too loudly. Honestly, it even reminded me of Orwell's 1984. I hope people of North Korea will be able to get more freedom soon☘️
