  • When we went to Disneyland we debated staying on site -- we even had a Paradise Pier room booked! -- but we ended up choosing to stay off site to save a bit of money. Paradise Pier was by far the least expensive option of the Disney owned and operated hotels, but it was still almost twice as much than what we ended up paying to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort. Located on Manchester Avenue, the Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort was only about a 12 minute walk for three adults to make it from our room to the security at the Disneyland esplanade, then usually only a couple of more minutes to make it into theme park gates. We booked a two queen bed deluxe room with a sofa bed; this is an oversized room that sleeps up to 6. I believe this is a newer hotel (it certainly felt that way), so I hope this room tour is helpful!
    If you have any questions about our stay let me know in the comments down below and I'll do my best to get you a useful answer. We were there in January 2022, so certainly some amenities may be more open now than they were a few months ago.

    Since being an adult, I've only ever been to Disneyland once so only stayed in this one hotel. I can't really compare/contrast to anywhere else, but I thought the price for the location was great! Particularly if you have a larger travel group, the option to get an oversized room is so nice. I would definitely stay here again, but I would also love to hear where you normally stay when you head to Disneyland!
    Also, not gonna lie, part of my calculus for this hotel was 1) we were splitting the cost with a friend who isn't SUPER in to Disney, so didn't want to force Disney prices on her, and 2) I am still hopeful we will buy DVC points for a Villas at Disneyland Tower home resort! If the latter is true, that means I'll have plenty of future on property stays coming my way -- but only time will tell!

      The amenities, from what I could tell, aren't anything special, but I mean when you book a Hilton Garden Inn you know what you're getting haha. If the rate is right I think it's definitely good enough!

    I had no idea the two hotels were the same building LOL thank you so much for the tour & review! It’s definitely on my list. That extra sink is a nice touch. I’m impressed at how large the room is. That is one of my biggest pet peeve when they only give 3 pillows on a queen. That’s a great price but it sucks that the amenities weren’t always open.

      Oh ya the fact that they literally share the same front desk and everything, like the welcome mat has both logos, very funny to me! I don't know if that's becoming commonplace but I was surprised and amused.
      I think on the Home 2 Suites side all of the rooms are big, since they are suites. On the Garden Inn side we specifically booked an oversized room as opposed to a standard room with 2 queens, but they were the same price!! I'm sure if you added more people the cost would go up, but for 3 adults in a standard vs. oversized 2 queen room it was exactly the same rate. I couldn't believe it, and obviously did not pass up the extra space. I don't know if maybe this was a promotional rate since the hotel is on the newer side, and from what I can tell I don't think it was very booked up when we were there? But if the price stays good I would happily recommend folks (who dont require a lot of bells and whistles in terms of amenities) stay here!
      And yeah omg the 3 pillow thing! I don't think I had ever encountered that before. So strange lol.

      @@PixieDustPhD yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a promotional rate. It’s definitely on my list though! I’m all about clean, newer hotels within walking distance ha ha. Question, how would you feel walking back to the hotel at night if you were alone? I always like to know these things since I travel alone a lot 💕

      @@HonestHotelReviews Oh good question! The map I showed at 6:35 is how we walked (group of three), so we cut through the Marriot parking lot basically instead of properly sticking to Manchester Ave sidewalks until it met up with Harbor. Probably saved us like 90 seconds total lol. I will say both felt well lit. I think if I was alone I might stick to the sidewalk as more crowds went that way (particularly seemed like a lot of people walking to the HoJo). And the stretch on Manchester was short, well lit, flanked by the Marriott and Holiday Inn Express so also a decent amount of people. I do think I would feel safe, yes, but yea I'm not sure I would cut through the parking lot. The bit right by the Marriot was very well lit, but the part closer to like Mimi's Cafe I could see perhaps not loving if I were alone.

    For a first timer, like myself. I was going to buy a 3 day park ticket for Disneyland. Should I buy a park hopper?

    • @PixieDustPhD
      @PixieDustPhD  4 месяца назад

      It really depends on your budget imo! I would say park hopping at Disneyland Resort is so easy, they're right across the way from each other, that to me it's totally worth it. I loved being able to easily go back and forth as wait times were swinging heavier in one park for example. Or if I wanted to go grab a fun alcoholic drink, gotta go to DCA. I'm also big on snacking/eating, so lots of places to try in both parks, and it's awesome to be able to go back and forth. That being said, it's not a 100% necessity. You'll have a great time even just with base tickets! But yes, I'd say if you have the means in your budget, it's worth it. Especially for 3 days! If you only wanted 2 days I'd say maybe base tickets and just focus on one park per day, but 3 days then imo a hopper will give you a lot more flexibility.

    Silly question I read it’s valet parking but are the cars parked near by? Or offsite?😊

      @PixieDustPhD  5 месяцев назад

      Oh, not silly - pretty insightful question! I don't actually know the answer to this, we didn't have a car with us. Given that area, I would guess it's offsite, but you could call the hotel to get a 100% factual answer instead of just a guess from me, haha.

    Disneyland is so not like WDW. All these hotels surrounding the park. It's like those good neighbor hotels at DS just took over and that was the only game in town. I am really rooting for you to get that Disneyland Tower contract. I think Disneyland really suits you. I liked it a lot on my one trip and definitely want to go back. I like Disneyland Paris too. I wish those hotels were DVC and we could use our points at the 7-month mark.

    • @PixieDustPhD
      @PixieDustPhD  2 года назад +1

      They are really quite different, but there is a way with which Disneyland feels more home-y than WDW to me. I can't really explain it. Perhaps the compact size in comparison helps it feel less engulfing or overwhelming. Disneyland definitely it not a replacement for WDW, but ya I think in many aspects I'd rather hang out at Disneyland haha.
      Ooof yea it'd be nice to use DVC at Paris or the other overseas locations! Maybe... someday? I highly doubt it, but it's a nice long term dream haha

    Are you able to walk through the parking lot to Disneyland, instead of going around?

    • @PixieDustPhD
      @PixieDustPhD  2 года назад

      Hi Silvia! To the best of my knowledge, no. There wasn't any sort of "back" exit to go from the back of the building, through the parking lot, up to the Marriot. You can walk out the front of the building and walk up Manchester for a hot second, then cut in at a driveway between the Holiday Inn Express and the Courtyard and that will take you through Courtyard covered parking then to the bigger general parking lot between the Mimi's and Panera, but it really didn't save any time doing this compared to just going around the Courtyard. We did also ask hotel staff if there was a back exit to cut through parking lots and they said no. Though we never really tried very hard to find a creative solution, so it is possible something exists that we just missed! But if you take a look at the satellite view on Google Maps I think you'll get an appreciation for the separation between the Home2 Suites/Hilton Garden Inn building and pool are and the Marriott -- definitely fenced off.
