    Love this video! For future hotel videos, could you briefly cover the parking situation and costs. I know it may not be a big deal, but about 5 years ago I had stayed at a hotel on south harbor and the parking was awfully tight and my car ended up getting damaged my first day there. The hotel actually called me while I was in line for Haunted Mansion to let me know the police was there to do a report. Ever since then, I’ve been choosing hotels based on parking. 😅 I actually stay at Ayres Orange now, but as I get older (and more arthritic ☺️) I would really like to move back to staying closer to the parks for those midday naps. Oh and would love any thoughts or ideas of other things to do in the area that’s not theme park stuff.
    Thank you for all the videos! I am finally returning to Disneyland in May after letting go of my annual pass over a year ago. Your videos are helping me plan.

    We stayed at Best Western Stovall last year and it was good, not fancy but your only there to sleep anyways plus the breakfast is really good and opens at 6 so you can eat breakfast before walking the 15 min to downtown Disney. Were planning to go back down next November and might stay at the Howard Johnson but I would have no issues staying at Stovalls again 👍

      I’d love to stay at the Westin. The most basic room is under $300 and comparable in price to many of the hotels on Harbor. But I’d want a park view room and then it’s no longer affordable. 🤣

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hampton was actually pretty far. It’s about a 20 minute walk. No further than the Best Westerns we showed. But you could probably walk to the Toy Story Lot in through the exit. I’m not sure how that works.

    • @Coast2Coast88

    I was just at Disneyland last week at the 'Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites.' Both you & Provost Park Pass both pushed 'Best Western.' At $150 per night, literally across the street from Disney, I wonder why you're not pushing 'Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites.'

    Everyone puts this huge premium on being super close to the park. There are several hotels just down Harbor Blvd that are nicer and either comparably priced or less expensive than hotels closer. With free parking and breakfast. You have to Uber but its only $8-$10. If you're staying on Katella it's just as quick to grab a ride share as it is to walk. Plus you get a ride through the home stretch instead of dragging you and the kids another 1/2 mile in a day when you've probably already walked 10-15 miles.
    Hope I'm not stepping on your toes SoCal Disney Dad. No one listen to me. Stay at the hotels suggested in the video.

    I know the BW Pavillions quite well. I went there as a hotel systems implementation lead with my assistant Randy, to upgrade their systems and to do some hospitality instruction since Best Western, with Headquarters in Phoenix, invited us with some many years of Innkeeping experience to help their clients (since Best Western hotels are individually owned and operated, unlike other hotel brands like Doubletree/Hilton).
    The funny thing, though as a 'yiddle' kid in Burbank and the Napa Valley, we went to Disneyland every other year, and even my Napa gospel school choir went there in the early 70's, and as an adult with a wife and daughter living in Phoenix, we went almost every year by air or car (Car if I wanted my daughter to visit Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Legoland), surprising her with the Disney Parks at the end (my wife and I were cool keeping secrets, because we always wanted to leave Disney as a surprise).
    But on my business trip to this hotel, in '00 for a systems upgrade, I never went to the theme park, we simply had no time, and we were always flying somewhere, usually to Canada or the other side of the states (in my case Ft. Lauderdale). I left Randy behind at this hotel because I had to fly home to Phoenix, hug my wife and our baby daughter and crash in my upstairs home office for the night, so as not to disturb my wife, as I was heading for Florida the next day.
    At the time I worked for this client, I loved the owners, and their management and staff that even though they were not Disney owned, they went out of their way to give families there a Disney experience. At that time the LAX and Santa Ana shuttles dropped off and picked up guests there. They were and still are blessed with the shortest walk to the parks, though an inn to their North is a close second with an indoor pool where my wife and I stayed on a long Socal and Vegas honeymoon.
    Your videos I cherish, given tourism was my career until I caught an early retirement opportunity in '15. It's been ten years since my last family Disney visit--at Walt Disneyworld where we stayed in the Swan. I am waiting for grandchildren to go again, but that may be a long wait since our daughter, now a 23 yo Master's Student in International studies, plans to serve as a diplomat given the love of travel we gave her, like me, inspired by It's a Small World which I first saw at age five in '66.

    Let’s be honest though, I don’t think these are hidden gem motels/hotels anymore since you have, and many other bloggers/channels here on YT done a review on them in the past.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  5 месяцев назад

      This is my first time seeing any of them. And the only one I actually had heard of before was the Westin.
      And almost all of them had free breakfast, except the Westin, and I found that to be quite the gem considering almost none the hotels I’ve stayed at near Disneyland (with the exception of Candy Cane and the BW Park Place Inn) have that perk.
      So you stay a little further away, get bigger rooms and free breakfast, and, in most cases, at cheaper costs too.
