I played the video in reverse and learned how to spend the most money at Disneyland!
😂🤣
😅
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ha nice
These are great tips! Thank you! Especially the top about buying single day tickets instead of multi-day. It always threw me off that it was more expensive to get the multi-days!
Spotting Traver at Disneyland was like finding a hidden Mickey.
Walked right by you on Saturday. Great to see you SoCalDad. Great Tee.
Thanks for all the tips.
Greetings from Canada
Thank you! Helps folks find me. 😂 I always love meeting everyone. Thanks for saying hi!
Thank you for these ideas! Someone gave some advice that was a couple months before your trip, stop eating out at home and save that money for food in the parks. Cut your food budget at home so you can enjoy your vacation. We don’t eat out much anyway, usually pizza on the weekends but at the end of two months that’s still at least $ 100 to enjoy some dolé whips and churros!
Yup. There’s a lot of tricks you can do to save at home. Most of us have probably $100/month of subscriptions we don’t really use enough to justify the expense. But they’re renewing each month in the background.
Those types of things can be cut too.
thank you so much, you just saved me and my family of 4 over £300 by booking my tickets daily "tier 0" rather than the 2 day pass.
Ok I need this video!!! Thank you!
TY! Great tips!
If you rope drop the shooting gallery in frontierland, the first 10-15 minutes are FREE!
Maybe a fun future video for you to do.
Really? That’s cool. We should definitely try it sometime. Thanks for the tip.
Great tips - thank you.
Greats tips thank you!
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Best tips out there. You are good at what you do. And I always learn something new.
Thank you!
We have been staying at Candy Cane Inn for about 25 years now. Love it, would never stay anywhere else, and depending on the season, we can get rooms under $200/night, and they take AAA or AARP for discount.
It’s a great hotel.
Crazy. It says CandyCane Inn is a 2 star hotel and it cost $300/$400 a night. When you can stay at the Hilton or Marriott for $160 a night and it’s a 4 star/5 star hotel lol 😆. 😂
I have been going to Disneyland for years and didn’t know some of these very helpful tips! Thank you!
Thanks learned a lot nice video keep it up 😮
Always appreciate and e joy your videos
Ty for the tips. Going in August for 2 days. Trying to find other things to do in the area
Great tips! Even I learned some new strategies! 👍
Love the food tracker spreadsheet :) I have spreadsheets for everything!
Great tips ! 👍🏻
Thank you for this video… we are going in March and already saved $100 through your tips!!!
Good video!
Also thank you for the hotel tips! I’m always wondering which hotels are best within walking distance of Disneyland. 👍
Awesome video! Great tips 😊
Thank you!
I'll be visiting Disneyland for the first time on jan-feb 25. Those are valuable tips
That’s my favorite in park restaurant…love their enchiladas…can’t wait to enjoy at the end of month..
I haven’t tried that entree yet. But I want to.
Why get genie plus when I can come watch your videos!!! Socal Disney dad plus! 🤟🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One of the best ways I save money at Disneyland is *** bring outside food in. *** Often times I’ll swing by my local subway and order 2 foot long subs and take them into the park. Two meals saved right there, and they’re more filling than anything Disney offers. If you order in the subway app you should be able to save even more money than ordering in person
Aloha! 🌺 love Amy’s Waikiki shirt
Heyah.. we tried to use the Getaway service you recommend.. it’s actually more expensive to go through them to get lined up for hotel and admission to the park. Got a better discount through my wife’s work. So folks just have to do some research to find cheaper ways to get hotels and such.. we do enjoy your vlogs for sure. Be there the week of Valentines hope to run into out at DCA or D Land.. see ya guy!
Definitely check Costco packages if you are a Costco member as well
Found some Disney-themed ears at Walmart of all places. They are smaller and for kids but they super cute and adults could wear them too. Target and Walmart would good options for shirts too.
I am going on Thursday and Friday next week (3/14 and 3/15) and I am stressed about it.... lol I've watched tons of your videos over the past few days. With that said, we might do rope drop in Fantasy Land because it is my nephews first trip, and my son is 10, so it'll be a good experience to do those rides first, and I have a table reserved at Cafe Orleans. Thxs for the vidoes.
Once again you’re a frickin’ genius!!! Buying 3 one-day tickets instead of 1 three-day tickets?! I went on the app to check out the price difference and 🤯🤯🤯‼️ Will be doing this for our trip next March along with your “take ibuprofen every 4 hours to avoid achy feet” hack that also proved invaluable!! Thanks again!!! 👏🏻😄👏🏻😄
I get a free cup of ice and fill at the water fountain at the movies all the time. Thanks for the good tips!
Is California water good/ ok to drink? Visiting from Florida, our water is gross and terrible.
We have 5 kids, so we have to get the suites at the Disneyland property hotels. So you can imagine how expensive that is for us! So we do not do that often.
We love majestic and Cambria hotel. The Cambria hotel shows Disney movies at their pool and has water slides. My kids Love it! We also order pizza poolside and slushies. Bonus is the parking lot connects to a plaza with frozen yogurt, Starbucks, fish grill and hawaiin bbq! And they have theme park view rooms at Cambria!
There was a guy sitting on a bench nearby when I filmed the hotel segment. When I finished, he recommended the Cambria to me. And I think we are going to make it a hotel review when the weather consistently warms up, perhaps in June.
@@SoCalDisneyDad the kids will love it! The Toy Story lot is close as well. Would love to see your thoughts on the place!
First of all, thank you for all these videos, you guys have quickly become my favourite channel, and I have been watching Magic journeys and Ordinary Adventures for a very long time. kudos to you specially for having so much children's content, now my question is this; My family and I were planning to go in the middle of November, Is that a good idea?
Mid-November should be fine.
Here’s a crowd update from roughly that time frame this past year:
How CROWDED is Disneyland for the Christmas Holiday Season?
ruclips.net/video/VZ9U-9I8xI4/видео.html
We are visiting from the uk the last week in august, is this considered off season?
Another great video! I'm making tons of notes!
Thanks!
Thank you! It’s much appreciated. And if you have any questions, always happy to answer.
for the airports, I fly into John Wayne (SNA) in orange county, which is only a 20 ish minute drive to disneyland. I uber from the airport to my hotel.
Hi for family of 3. Do you know the approx cost ? Ty
@@MSRedgirl It depends om how long you go for and when you go. Flight rates can go up or down depending on the day of the week. For a family of 3 going for 4 days would probably cost upwards of $5,000 (USD).
Hi! I love your tips!
Unfortunately I only have a day to go visit Disneyland. I wanna get the park hopper cause I wanna get to know both parks even though I don’t go on everything. Where would you recommend starting? Which park?
I’d probably say start at Disneyland. Just because it’s the primary park and has twice as many rides.
Hi SolCal Dad?Do you have a like an excel or check list for the ride tips and other tips?
I just got back from disneyland on sunday! my favorite ride was Incredicoaster!
That one is Benjamin’s favorite too!
How was the weather and was it crowded?
Thank you. We live in SoCal and are taking advantage of the SoCal 3 day tickets. We added genie and we opened the Disney credit card for $300 off for 3 tickets with parking and genie and bought the other 3 tickets with 10% off Disney gift cards from Costco. Trying to get these trips done on a budget. Going to bring snacks and maybe share meals for one meal in park. Are we able to buy sandwiches from earls and bring them in the park?
Yes! That’s totally fine. Disneyland allows outside food. You could even grab McDonald’s outside the park and bring it in if you wanted. But the Earl of sandwich sandwiches would probably keep warmer longer and be less messy.
Whats the price of parking at disney hotels?
Hi Traver! Can you explain needing to have your photo taken each day if you buy multiple, single tickets? Do they just do it at the turnstiles or is there more to it that makes it time consuming? Thanks 😁
Yeah, just at the turnstiles.
Each ticket has a photo assigned to it for ID purposes. If you have a multi-day ticket, they take it once the first time you use it and then it’s good for your whole trip.
But if you buy 2 or 3 single day tickets, you’ll need a new photo every morning.
Minor annoyance, nothing too bothersome.
The real drawback, and the only major one, is the Park Hopper situation. Because $70 for 3 days is cheaper than $195 ($65x3).
So you lose any financial benefit of booking single day tickets if you intend to purchase Park Hopper.
Would you share a link for your portable charger pls?
Here it is:

thank you! I just discovered you recently. We are a disney fam from Alaska. Getting ready for our next trip in April and enjoying your content, especially all of the genie plus tips!

09:12 We have a bigger kid that we do not use a stroller for at home. We were told it's a lot for kids so get a stroller and decided to rent one from OC Baby. It is nice because they deliver and pick up to your hotel BUT it's going to be around $100 for 4 days and that's with a coupon!!! We got the damage insurance so there is another $20 but it does not cover THEFT....so now I am nervous that someone will steal this $600 stroller and we will be out. All because of those hard red Disney strollers that do not recline. I tried to buy a cheapie off marketplace but my husband did not want to deal with it on the plane. Also I just wanted to say that I really enjoy seeing you in the videos a lot more than you had been, your hubby is great but a mom's take is always nice :).
It’s definitely a lot of walking. We are debating taking our stroller for Disney World simply because we will be doing 9 days worth of walking.
Both of our kids weened off the stroller around 5 to 5 1/2 years of age. But Benjamin (6) still struggles sometimes by the end of the day, usually only if we stay past 7 PM.
That’s only a single day though. We are rarely there back to back days or for multiple days.
The stroller is really not a pain on the airplane because it gets handled by the flight crew. The only trouble is waiting for it on the jetway at arrival.
I think one time it got sent in with the regular luggage, too. And we picked it up in the carousel.
I wouldn’t be too concerned about theft. I mean it does happen, but it’s not frequent. I’ve never had my stroller stolen (it’s about $400 maybe? We paid $100 for it used) or even messed with.
Cast members will move it around to make more space. So don’t freak out if the stroller isn’t where you left it. But I’ve honestly never had trouble in the 9 years we’ve taken strollers to both Disneyland and WDW.
Get the Ronto Wrap! It is huge and tastes super good?
We’ve split that before too. They’re like a foot long. Pretty much two hotdogs.
If I have a Fuel Rod from WDW, it still works at any machine. right?
Correct! Yes! Even at airports and such.
Do they provide transportation from LAX to the Disneyland area if you’re not staying at one of the Disneyland hotels? What’s the best option for getting there if not?
They don't provide transportation even if you are stay on property. There is no airport transportation sponsored by Disney. Disney does, however, recommend the Karmel Shuttle Service, but it's a third party and you have to arrange everything with them.
Most people just catch an Uber.
What's the best order in which we should plan to visit the rides? (We are 2 adults)
We are going for 1 day to Disneyland and have Genie+ and will get to the park at rope drop?

If I am staying at a Disney hotel, can I get early entry to the parks on my arrival day before I go to the hotel? Or do I need to get to the hotel very early on my check-in day before I do early entry at the park? I assume we will have to park our rental car at the hotel first.
So based on my research, yes, you can get early entry on the day you arrive. But early entry begins at 7:30 AM. So you’d need to arrive at the hotel early enough to check-in, drop off your luggage, and still get to the park.
They will give you a keycard to show at the early entry area in the park even if your room isn’t available yet. It will just be a dead card.
Thank you!@@SoCalDisneyDad
If I bring a backpack of snacks into D land are there lockers to store back pack in?
Yes. There are lockers available either just outside the parks or inside both parks. The small ones which fit at least one decent size backpack are $7. And the larger ones are $10 for the day.
When disneyland had max pass, photos were included. Are the included with genie plus?
Yes. It is.
Hello , excellent tips thank you so much. me and my wife taking my 8 years daughter arriving 11am in june 27th staying in Disneyland hotel for 2 nights which theme park should i purchase? Since we will spend 1 day in the theme park ? It gave me to choose between
1:disneyland Park
2:disney California adventure park
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
If you only have one day, Disneyland is the way to go, hands down.
Can you tell me if you have ever used the Disney dining plan and does it save you any money?
The Disney Dining Plan is only available in Walt Disney World and is not an option for Disneyland. We typically don’t use it in Disney World because it’s usually cheaper for us to go without it.
We had a expensive sit and stand stroller it was never stollen we went about 15-20 times a year
Mine has never been messed with either. We have a $400 stroller I think. I don’t know. We bought it used for $100.
But I know some people have like $2,000 strollers.
Stroller theft is rare, but not impossible. And it’s usually the higher end ones.
@@SoCalDisneyDad the only thing was a Donald Duck plushy brand new was taken out of our stroller but Disneyland replaced it for free
Ya know what would be cool is next year Orlando is releasing a new park for universal, if at all possible do you think you’ll be able to cover it?
Edit: Also will Orlando Disney parks ever be in the card ? I understand it costs a ton but just curious
We visit Walt Disney World once a year usually. And our next trip is in May. So just a few months away!
We will be doing Universal on that trip as well. One day in each park.
I’d love to cover Epic Universe when it opens.
I doubt I get invited to any media events, but I’ll try to go for opening if I can.
I’m so pumped for Epic Universe!
i always try to save but always end up buying the gold mickey lol
We always do gift cards! Does anyone know if you can use them to pay for mobile orders in the app? We have not been to DL since 2018 and couldn't do it then, so I hope that has changed!
Yes! You can use them for mobile orders. Select gift card at the payment screen when placing s mobile order and follow the prompts to add it to your account.
Have you ever been to Star Wars night and is it worth it? We’ll be there during that time.
I have not. But I’m hoping to go this year. I’m just waiting for them to announce ticket sales. It’s usually in February but I can’t find any info about when those are going on sale yet.
We love your show you are a straight shooter . To many sugar coat things on other youtubes just be honest . When you spend over 10,000 to come down . Just asking you if there is food with no gluten or lactose . It is hard to eat at Disneyland they should have a big list of food that you can eat without gluten and lactose without getting sick . Disneyland has to work on that
We did a Gluten-Free video two years ago and have been talking about redoing it since when we posted it the first time we didn’t really have a huge Disney following, the video never really took off or found its footing on RUclips.
That aside, Disneyland does have allergy-friendly food lists for you to peruse.
Not every food location has this list, but most of the primary meal locations like Jolly Holiday or Hungry Bear will have them.
Go to the Disneyland App and place a mobile order. You don’t need to go through with it. You’re just looking at the menu.
Go to place a mobile order and the options will appear. One of the tabs at the top is “Allergy Friendly” or you can scroll down almost to the very bottom of the list.
Down there is a tab for Gluten/Wheat Allergy Friendly. Click that and you’ll see the options that we safe for you.
Hungry Bear has three adult meals, one kids meal, a kids power pack, a side of fries, and a strawberry fruit bar on their menu that’s all safe. They’re all prepared using Gluten-free ingredients if, for instance, you purchased the burger. But they also have a burger that uses lettuce instead of a bun that’s also plant-based as well, meaning the meat is Impossible meat.
For the lactose part, you’d just have to order it without cheese I would imagine. Or the plant-based option might be the best bet because it won’t contain dairy either. Since it’s vegan friendly.
what is better? Disneyland of DCA
I think they’re both great and each have qualities I like.
Am I able to book a Disney hotel for 5 days but only get a 3 day pass to Disney? The first two we want to spend at Universal. Is that possible?
Sure. But be aware that Universal is an hour drive from Disneyland. Minimum. It’s longer with traffic if you hit it during rush hour.
You’re better off staying at the Hilton Universal when you go to Universal.
@@SoCalDisneyDad thank you for the reply. So you would suggest we book Hilton and got to universal then Disney from the Hilton hotel? Or should we change hotels?
@@IveThatFire Definitely change hotels. You don’t want to drive an hour up and back each day.
What would you consider off season at this point?
There is no off season at Disneyland anymore.
There are the seasons to avoid (Spring Break, Fall Break, weeks of all major holidays), but otherwise, go whenever it fits in your schedule best.
Normally, January and February are amazing for crowds, but this year Disney practically gave away tickets during this time with a dirt cheap kids deal and the parks were slammed as a result.
Disney makes more money on food, merchandise, and Genie+ than it does on admission, so they just care about getting people in the park.
They don’t care if it makes it miserably crowded.
Promo code is invalid
It only works on packages. I just tried it and it applied correctly. But it has to be a hotel/ticket combo package.
Undercover tourist is cheaper than get away today. They wouldn't match that offer
They're both pretty comparable and it really just depends on what hotels you're looking at and what deals the company has arranged with those different hotels.
I will say that Get Away Today primarily caters to Disneyland while Undercover Tourist primarily caters to Walt Disney World. They both do both, but we prefer Get Away Today for all of our Disneyland needs.
One way to save money at Disneyland is don’t go to Disneyland. 😂
Do you think 12 hours is enough for Disneyland only? No kids.
Sure. A lot of people only go to Disneyland for a single day. It is what you make of it.
Get Genie+, make a priority list, and have some fun.
not first
#1 way to save money. Never go!
I hope I’m not out of line for asking, but most of your comments have been pretty positive, and I’ve noticed the last few have had the complete opposite feel.
Now if I remember, you did have a recent trip to Disneyland, so I’ve got to ask, if you don’t mind, was it a bad experience?
I’m just curious about the tone change and what might have caused it?
Just don't go.
