    Absolutely.
    This ball combines the coverstock that the Virtual Gravity Nano made famous with the very strong and even core of the Marvel line. Because of the combination of the two the ball reads the lane aggressively but also helps to blend the pattern out to ensure you don't end up with that extreme wet/dry reaction that some upper level bowling balls create.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    Yes, the pattern was fresh when I started, I bowled a total of 10 games overall between all my equipment to get footage for a few different ball reviews.
    In total I threw shots with the Super Natural, Lights Out, Freak'n Frantic, Reign of Power, Sync, Marvel-S, Hy-road Pearl, and my IQ Tour Pearl in order to get enough video footage to build 4 ball reviews.
    The Marvel-S, Reign of Power and Sync were the last balls I threw so that is why there are so many track lines.

    Thank you very much, there is a lot more coming out soon, I just got back from a mini-vacation so I was away from the computer for a little bit.
    Can't wait to get a few more reviews out here quickly and then hopefully start working on another installment of "Language of the Pins" and "Between the Lines".

    I really appreciate it, I work pretty hard to make sure my videos look good and so far it has been paying off. I hope you stick around and keep watching!
    Bowl up a STORM!!!!!!

    The Marvel-S would be a good choice in my opinion.
    As far as pin placement, pin up and pin down don't really describe ball motion as well as most people think. I would use a dual angle layout as suggested by Mo Pinel to get exactly the reaction you are looking for.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    If I was to recommend two bowling balls that will fit well with what you already have it would probably be the Lights Out and the Reign of Power. That will give you two bowling balls that will roll different for you when the IQ Tour Pearl isn't giving you the look you want.
    Thanks for the comment about the videos, I work very hard on them so I appreciate all of the positive feedback I have been getting lately!

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    This ball and the Disturbed are both great choices for what you are looking for.
    Because of the Nano cover on the Marvel-S it is going to be a little more aggressive and also, with the same layout, probably slightly more angular.
    The Disturbed should be a very even rolling ball, it would fit in nicely with your current arsenal.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    Your assesment of the equipment strength is correct, and in general the Soul should attempt to cover more boards but remember that the correct ball for the conditions will cover the most boards in most situations.
    As far as finishing stronger, because the Lucid retains energy longer (think skid snap) it will finish stronger because it has to expell said energy. Generally a ball that skids longer will snap harder (generally!!!).

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    My recommendations would be one of these two:
    Storm Reign of Power
    Roto-Grip Disturbed
    Both are great on reading the mid lane and starting to roll a little earlier when the pearl is going to long. Hope this gets you what you are looking for and good luck!

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews

    +++ On this lane I had quite a few bowling balls I had to gather footage of for a few different reviews so that is why you are seeing so many lines on the lane surface. Over time those lines will not be visible, it is only because of the abundance of dust in the building still.
    The lanes were still playing pretty true by the end of my session as the volume on this pattern is high so you don't move often. I had to move a total of 2-1 from start to finish so not to much different.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I think both of those would be good options, however they might also be a little more aggressive than your looking for. Another good option might be the IQ Tour, it will help blend the pattern out and the ball will be a nice smooth break down lane as opposed to breaking loose once it gets to see friction.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    The speed listed is the speed off the hand, not overall across the entire length of the lane. Because the volume of the pattern, the angle you play, and the ball you use can all affect the overall speed it isn't a great way to measure.
    The ball is going 17.5 mph right off my hand at release.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    The Marvel-S, given the Centripedal core and the solid NRG Coverstock, should read earlier and transition more smoothly than both the Soul and the Lucid.
    The Defiant Soul, with a similar layout, should be longer but stronger on the backend.
    The Lucid should be much longer with a sharper angle down lane, but will cover less boards overall.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I can (and will) but the big thing with looking at the layout is most people look at the pin in relation to the fingers to decide whether the ball will hook early or late and that is not the case. The pin to finger relation has no indication of what the ball is doing, its strictly based on PAP.
    If you would like an idea of what the numbers mean so you can begin to understand check out the series called "Between the Lines" on my channel. I break it down to help explain how it works.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    When I make a ball review I start with the weakest ball I plan to throw and I move up until I reach the most aggressive, this way the weaker stuff doesn't hook more than it should and the aggressive stuff still rolls as close to true as it can.
    These surfaces are brand new so the lines you are seeing are because a fine amount of dust has settled on the lane surface, you can see the ball still holds a line really well as I jump outside and play "zone 1".
    +++

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    Most bowlers lose about 3 mph from their hand to the speed the ball reads on the monitor.
    Measure the time it takes your ball to go from the foul line to the arrows. You know that distance (roughly) is 15 feet. Now you can take your time and figure out how many feet per second your ball is traveling (15/time). After that the easiest way will be to use a converter online that converts FPS into MPH.
    Hope that helps!

  • @Doza418
    @Doza418 11 лет назад

    Just a suggestion. Can you please add a segment in your vid showing us your layout. All those numbers do not make sense to none experienced drillers such as myself. All in all great review once again and thanks for sharing.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    There is some mental drain but as far as physically I don't really feel it. I bowl so often and practice so many games that I can bowl 8-10 hours straight without physically getting too worn down. The biggest key is to make sure you aren't over-working, gravity will help you as much as you allow it to help but it will also work against you if you try to do things that counteract it. By allowing my swing to be gravity driven my arm, literaly, never gets tired but the legs will over a long day.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    Think of your bowling bag like a golf bag, each ball is a different club. So right now you have a great putter and sand wedge (Polar Ice, Natural) as well as a pitching wedge (Tropical Breeze). You also have some decent irons with the IQ Tour Solid and Pearl but you are still missing that Driver, this is where the Marvel-S would come in.
    Hope that helps!

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    The Reign of Power should be a nice step up from 505C2. If you decide you do not want to use your Reign of Power then I would look for something you like for medium to medium-heavy oil. Right now your other two bowling balls are for light and medium-light so you want something a little more aggressive than the two of those.
    Good luck!

  • @MrMarcuspng
    @MrMarcuspng 11 лет назад

    Thanks. About the legs getting tired, I agree with you totally. I bowled 8 games today, and my goodness, they are just killing me now! XD

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I would go with something weaker like the Hy-Road Pearl, Lights Out or maybe the Freak'N Frantic. You already have some decent big bowling balls so going to something you can ball down to when the lanes dry out would be how I would go.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I think the Wrecker would be a good choice. I don't think it will be quite as versatile as a Hy-Road is but the Wrecker looks like it will fit into your arsenal a little better than the IQ Tour Pearl will.
    Good luck!

    Hey man, I just went and got that Marvel S after doing a demo day with it, and this ball is so strong on the pins it flat out runs them over! It really fits in well with my Sync, IQ Tour Pear, and Wrecker. Love this ball! By far my favorite and this video reallly helped out, great video. keep up all the good work!

    • @sk8sbowlingreviews
      @sk8sbowlingreviews  10 лет назад

      Thanks for the kind words and glad to know you found a good compliment to fill out your arsenal.
      The Marvel-S has definitely become one of the pieces in my bag that I find myself throwing really often, its just a go-to piece that never does anything crazy off the end of the pattern.
      Glad the video helped you make a decision and hope to see you back watching more in the future!

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I would look for something a little lower than the Lucid as it seems all your equipment is pretty aggressive (and solid). I would check out the Fire Road, Hy-road Pearl, Lights Out or Freak'n Frantic to allow you something to ball down to when the stuff you own begins to hook to early.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    No harm in throwing what works for you!
    As far as equipment dying, most poeple have issues because they do not maintain equipment. With our demo equipment I have never seen a ball "die" and they probably get more use than any other equipment on the planet. Because we do surface touch ups and clean them regularly they keep that "like new" reaction throughout their demo life.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    I think both would be a great choice, although I do think the Marvel-S will probably be more useful on more patterns. Of course, this is all very general because I don't know your particular game but the Marvel-S is slightly more versatile so its probably the better choice.

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    The Marvel-S should read earlier than the Defiant Soul and the Sync (because of the Marvel-S having a symmetrical core) but won't be as strong as either of them overall (all things being equal).
    Hope that helps and good luck!

  • @sk8sbowlingreviews
    @sk8sbowlingreviews  11 лет назад

    My opinion would be to go with something that falls in between your Reign of Power and your Natural Pearl but I will give you options for each and that way you can decide which way to go:
    If you want one in between I would go with the Lights Out. This should give you a weaker ball with a smooth controlled reaction.
    If you want one stronger I would go with the (release date Oct 1) Byte. This will give you a more angular look than the Reign of Power.
    Hope that helps, good luck!

  • @Metallica6207

    They just don't fit into my game as well as other companies do. Its not bashing the company by any means, given that Storm is one of the best. I hear from many Storm bowlers that the coverstock on most of their balls wears out after a while, making the balls perform at a lesser level then they do new. If that is true, I would rather not be replacing balls or resurfacing them more than I should have to. Most people I bowl with bowl strictly Storm, so I like to be different than everyone else:)

    I really need help !
    I am trying to convince my dad that buying a new ball such as the Marvel-S would be perfect for my bag. keep in mind he is an older guy and is " Old Fashion" i guess you could say so he thinks one ball works on everything but the problem with that is i love to compete in youth tournaments so i need a perfect way to explain to my dad about getting the Marvel-S and why it would be important.

    The terms "pin up" and "pin down" don't really give you an accurate description of the layout, its better to use something more exact like Mo Pinel's Dual Angle Layout system so you know exactly what the ball will do on the lanes.

    Is 17.5 mph really your speed? Is the video slowed or something? It takes your sync on average 2.75 seconds to get down the lane, that's barely 15 mph. Obviously it doesn't really matter as long as you strike, I just have ocd.

    Hey Michael!! I need some advice. I currently have in my bag, Virtual gravity nano, tropical storm breeze, and the sync. Im looking to get rid of my sync because its too powerful and I cant constantly control it. It hooks way to hard for my style. I was looking at the Marvel S or the upcoming Byte that comes out in October. Do you think I should wait for the byte to come out or would the marvel S be the solution? I throw about 15.5-16.2mph with a tweener/cranker hook. Any advice? Thanks!!

    The stronger section of my arsenal goes, hyroad, iq tour pear, lucid. I am bowling in a sport league this year, and I'm thinking I should have something stronger than the lucid to add to it. What is your opinion? Would the marvel s be a big enough step, or should I go sync, byte, or even a nano, if I can find one? Also all of my other balls are pin up. Should the stronger ball be pin down? Thanks, Justin!
