Ever since learning the dual angle method I am hooked and I have a few balls with the mo hole layout, double thumb does not do much for me though! Also are you considered matched, rev or speed dominate?
I currently have a breeze, lucid, and byte and im finding out that they all are pretty similar in differential/rg and also all being pearl reactive coverstocks. My question is I need something much more aggressive for when I need to open the lanes up. My current ideas are either a sync, virtual nano, zero nano OR change the coverstock on the lucid to say 1000 or eve 500 Or lastly I have an older ball called the fired up that I was thinking of re drilling. I was hoping you could give me your opinion! Thanks!
The Zero Gravity would be a great choice, as would the Marvel-S as that will give you a little earlier roll and a more even arc as the ball goes down lane. Even though your equipment might have similar numbers (rg and diff) that doesn't mean that they are similar in how aggressive they are, just that the ball path will look some what similar as far as shape is concerned. The Byte will handle far more oil than a Breeze will. Hope that helps and good luck!
sk8sbowlingreviews Thanks for the reply! I guess I should have left out the breeze, more or less meant that my byte and lucid are too similar. I was wondering if you know any information about the fired up or have throw one yourself. I realize that you might not have because it is no longer sold! Great videos keep up the good work!
Some of my friends have the lights out . Why do most people compare the Lights out to the Super Naturals and the Frantics?? The lights out has a Strong hook motion and is a very aggressive ball from what ive seen ?
I laid mine out with the MOtion hole layout, have you seen that yet? If not you can search "Mo Pinel MOtion Hole" on RUclips or you can go to morichbowling(dot)com to read the article. It is really a great layout and I am happy with my results.
The reason is because they are all part of the "Hot" Line and all have a very similar core. The Lights Out definitely hooks more than the Super Natural but its not extremely aggressive, it is just a good match up on most THS conditions so it tends to read the lanes very well in standard league and open play.
I am considered matched. Glad to hear the layouts are working for you! I am working on getting in to another pro shop right now so I can use some equipment to film some more "Between the Lines" footage and give out some more information for those that are interested.
As my style closely resembles you, if not a tad on the rev dominant side, I often use your videos to determine my next ball purchase. Great videos! I've run into a bit of an issue on a new league that I've started. It is a singles scratch league that moves to a random pair after every game. It is also 2nd shift league in a house whose THS is very low volume with relatively snappy back-ends. (some more than others) I'm currently using (or having the best success with) either IQ Fusion (if there's enough oil in the middle to swing the lanes) or Hy-Road Pearl. The pearl gets me down-lane, but the reaction is very hard to control or the extreme entry angle causes ringing 10-pins. I've considered the Pitch Black, but I think it will pick up too soon and then burn out. I then considered the Super Natural. I have a Tropical Breeze, but the over/under on that ball is horrible. Which direction would go in the environment described, keeping in mind that I also adjust speed/revs/approach?
I think the Super Natural wouldn't be a bad choice for sure! Its definitely a good ball as the fronts begin to fall apart, and it keeps the ball from getting hard to handle as the ball experiences friction down lane. Another good choice would be to go with the Punch Out and put a layout on it that promotes length and lower flare potential, which would also be a good option for you I feel like.
sk8sbowlingreviews Hello Michael, I am looking for a ball for when the "fronts begin to fall apart"/dry-out and I can no longer move left while still staying in my comfort zone with my solid coverstock balls.. I am looking at both the Supernatural and the Punch-Out. I am leaning towards the Punch-Out because I already have an old Columbia300 Shadow (urethane, #15) from about 20 years ago. The Shadow has no flare and on occasion will leave a 5 pin or the 5-7 even with a good pocket hit. I want the Supernatural and the Punch-Out to be an in-between ball before I go to the Shadow (if needed). I see that you recommended the Punch-Out (which is the way I'm leaning so far) to Jason here. I was curious as to what type of dual angle layout that promotes length you would recommend? I was thinking 75x3x25 or perhaps 75x3x40. I wanted to get your recommendation though. Finally, I am wondering that since the Supernatural has a flare potential of 3"-4" do you think it would be a good replacement for my old Shadow? Would it drive through the pins better and maybe stop leaving the 5 pin or the 5-7 even with a good pocket hit? The motion from watching your video and my experience with the Shadow seem very similar, but I also have to factor in that you are bowling on a fresh shot. I appreciate any advice you can provide.
Brian Telfer The issue with Urethane equipment is that it wants to read early, so if the heads are completely gone it might begin its transition too early and actually hit even more flat than it already seems to be doing for you with your old Shadow. The Super Natural is going to have more angle down lane than the Shadow you currently throw, but its not going to be a big difference. I think you would be able to use the Punch Out much more frequently on a burnt THS pattern. I think your angles look pretty good, however it might help to extend the Pin to PAP number a little bit (closer to 5 or so) in order to promote a little more length. Good luck and keep me posted on how it works for you!
sk8sbowlingreviews I had another idea Michael. What do think about the IQ Tour Pearl? I just noticed that the RG and Diff. are significantly lower than that of the Punch-Out and it has the same coverstock as the Punch-Out. I watched your video on it, but I want to see what you think.
I think a better overall choice might be the Lights Out, not that the Super Natural is a bad choice but because its a urethane piece it doesn't "read" the lanes quite the same as your typical equipment would. Both would be a good choice, I just happen to like the shape my Lights Out creates on the lane more often than that of the Super Natural. Good luck and hope you find something that works, either one should work out well for you overall!
Glad I was able to help, and thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words!

Would you suggest the motion hole or the double thumb hole to increase my backend reaction on my tour pearl
That cleared everything up . Thanks for the helpful information your good at this :D
