Elephant trappers are desperate to chase these humble giants away by causing injuries to them. A Sri Lankan wildlife team encounters an injured elephant that requires immediate removal of some metal wire that is holding its trunk unusable. This trap removal mission is a very dangerous one since these giants are not to be messed with.

Gods blessings to these fine men that has done this there are good people in this world this proves it.
That Mother elephant could have lost her life so easily ...not being able to eat or drink while trapped, the story in the link tells more. The Injury looks very painful, but good to see her in the water with her baby.
I read the article. It was no help. No where did it say or show the trap removed.
The trap is like a thick wire ''noose'' wrapped around the trunk of the elephant..It is clearly visible..the men are removing it with cutters.
I saw the men cutting away at the "noose"--but, it never shows it actually removed. A later picture (the last) shows the elephant with the noose still attached--tho I could be wrong...
These are some of the bravest, kindest men. I would wish to be like them, if I could.

As much as I love watching these brave men rescue these elephants you really need to invest in some bigger and sharper bolt cutters for quickness and the safety of these incredibly brave men Big Respect!!.
Bolt cutters are good for bolts, or single thin straned wire. They do a poor job on fine multi straned cables. For that wire cutters are better.
How patient that elephant was, she trusted on human being and not moving by bearing the pain 🥺. Man only put the trap and man only rescuing from trap, but she trusted on man ❤️
They inject them first with a paralyzing dart so thier not asleep but then puts antidote and waits to make sure elephant is using his legs ok

Buy some good tools, stop using cheap Walmart cutters. That poor baby. But a BIG thanks for going in there to save this beautiful creature, you are hero's with cheap tools. :)
Bulk cutters even good ones are not that good at cutting through multi strand cable. They needed parrot beak type cutters.
There are no Walmarts in Sri Lanka. Those traps sometimes have multiple strands of metal wire which makes it very hard to cut quickly. They need to make a bunch of tiny cuts in order to get the whole thing out.

@@tinkerer67 Absolutely....Multi strand wire is difficult to cut and saw through...The hunters would have used a strong wire noose that an Elephant in her fury/panic could not snap.
Removing a wire tight to living flesh is also very tricky.

Elephant has been sedated...If she was not, she could have panicked severely. The antidote was given at the end..that wound looks so sore..she must have been dehydrated too, not being able to drink.

That is a very risky job, Wild elephants won't let you to do anything to them. They do not know your attentions. However i noticed a lot of local elephants do not mind humans nearby

What they need are racheting cable cutters. Bolt cutters aren't very effective on wire rope.

She must have understood your intentions to behave so docile.. What a beautiful moment this was. So happy that even after being releases she let you give her the antibiotic shots that will keep her from dying of the wound. I still hate that this happened to begin with, but if it weren't for that, this moment would never have happened. hunters need to hunt to provide and sometimes this is the unfortunate result. These are responsible hunters as a tribe and I respect how they treat their land and the animals in it. Great job guys!!!!

Stephen OD 'Thankfully', we live in a world where the vast majority of people contribute to economic systems that are effectively killing incredible amounts of animals (like 40% terrestrial and 80% amphibian and freshwater animals since 1970s), without even noticing it. Saving one trapped animal (or even all of them) is nice, but overall picture is still grim.
I have heard of Lord vishnu saving elephant in a similar situation, I am seeing it live now, you people are blessed

That was just freakin amazing! Never actually seen the elephant get darted but I assume it had to be. Must have developed some new stuff to just put it in a zombie state without having it go down and totally unconscious. Bolt cutters aren't much good for cutting cable, but it just stood there all the while those guys fiddle fucked around with it. Momma being relaxed even kept baby relatively calm.
