It's like having the entire Wrecking Crew, all the vocal overdubs, and every session musician who played any part all on stage all at once. Look at this in awe: all from the mind of the Living God of Harmony: Brian Wilson.
I have many musician friends who say they "don't like" The Beach Boys yet haven't even listened, there's definitely some weird derisive and dismissive elitism thing going on - the irony being that The Beach Boys were literally the most complex and innovate band and the progenitors (or, at least co-progenitors with The Beatles) of everything me and my friends actually listen to from the 90s and 00s. Pop music progressed more between 64 and 67 than it ever has done since thanks to Brian Wilson his counterparts
This music is timeless when I was old enough to listen to music my mom ( dead and gone now ) had me and my siblings listened to the beach boys ,Jan and dean along with many others of the era I can listen to this all day . I can remember when I drove from NC to Oxnard CA every week a hotrod shop that was below the blue moose lounge that played this type of music all the time I would hang out there on my layover waiting to head back east
Outstanding group. The instruments pretty much nail the old Wrecking Crew tones. Wow!! The vocals are excellent. A few intonation problems here and there... but nothing serious. This incredible music needs to live on. The current band that calls themselves the Beach Boys isn't doing very well.
Congratulations to the Fendertones, I have been listening to the Beach Boys for some 35 years and must say how spot- on your instrumentals are as well as your vocals The Beach Boys would be very proud of all of you for doing it so well. In 2007 in New Plymouth - New Zealand I went to see Mike Love perform and it was amazing, and when I looked around the audience all I could see was a sea of grey hair and everyone was up and dancing. This performance was the biggest highlight of my interest in music from the 1960s. To the Beach Boys thank you for such beautiful uplifting music and to the Fendertones thank you for keeping the music alive, you blew me out of the water, you do it so well it brought tears to my eyes.
I can't stop watching the fender tones ,they are extremely talented and look like they are having so much fun.started by stumbling on there remake of monkeys uncle.
I don’t think anyone has said how spot on the lead vocal was. I’ve always found Mike’s original annoying and diluting any rock quality the song had. This one rocks all the way!
This rendition of the song absolutely captures the joyful essence of what it was like to grow up in the early ‘60s, as I did. It may be the best version ever. Millions of American teenagers in those years listened to the Beach Boys on car radios. We lived in our cars. If you really like this version of the song, you would have loved going to high school in the early ‘60s. It was a wonderful era.
I was a multi instrumentalist in The Royal Navy Band UK. When I was discharged, after going to sea, I joined a "POP GROUP" playing drums, and as a backing vocalist, presenting this song. My life included, recording over 8 albums, 3 double albums, and, ten plus years on the radio, with....PROVEN....OVER FIFTEEN MILLION LISTENERS!
I'd really love to know what Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce or David think of these guys. What must it be like to see a cover band nail their creations so lovingly and accurately? It's gotta be a real thrill/honor, and I bet Fendertones would love to get that sort of feedback (but maybe they have?)
Brilliant. I love it. On the other hand, some people here seem pretty sour about this rather large group, especially the number of singers, almost like it is cheating in some fashion. It is rightly pointed out below that in the studio the BBs did many many overdubs of the vocals (often replicating the same tones), used great outside singers (such as Jan and Dean) and then eventually used the Wrecking Crew to play many of the instruments such as on Good Vibrations. Not to mention the world class studios and a genius (Brian) at the helm. To approximate that sound live with a smaller group, I guess you could fly in vocals and use midi but this is largely old school. Hey, these guys are doing the same thing live as what was done in the studio even artificially producing a great double-tracked vocal sound. The newest digital equipment allows this type of magic. By the way these talented players are obviously people who are/have studied music (they have charts and understand arranging), have probably had a good bit of ear/vocal training, play damn well and have organizational ability to put something like this together. Outstanding. Talent hands down. Study the best, replicate it and perhaps branch out on your own.
Yeah, the Beach Boys never recorded an entire track live in the studio in their career and it is silly to think that any group of four or five individuals could with any credibility duplicate a Beach Boys studio track. To their credit, the Fendertones make no pretense at being the Beach Boys Rev. 2.
You get it,....wall of sound technology....I saw the BB's play, they had 10 guys on stage, 2 drummers, 3 rythm guitars, also it took 6 months for Brian to mix all of the sounds in Good Vibrations.....
Yep, with the complexity of the harmonies and instrumentation, I would expect an extended band if they want to do it right... and these boys do it right.
OK, here's what I really think...and I quote,..."I've ben a 'Boys of simmer', fan since the mid 60's. So I find the Fendertones are "friggen great." They have captured it all. The Beach Boys shpuld be proud that there are talented artists, who will replace their sound. GPM-53.
These guys are GREAT!! I am a big Beach Boys Fan and these guys are just getting it done!!! Keep on Surfing, sand in your toes and the Beach Boys playing in the background, my idea of Heaven!!
Edwin, I've asked this before, just trying to stay current. What plans, if any, do you have to tour your current line up? I run two music festivals, always eager to include you in whatever format you can tour. What's new? Doug Day, Sweet Chariot Music Festival (Maine) Pine Mountain Music Festival, (U.P. Michigan).
This is a neat series. I've Broken down and multitrack recorded some Beach Boys songs for practice so I appreciate the great productions these guys do right down to the orchestration on the original studio versions! Wow!
in the studio they overdubbed so many vocals it was never just a live recording with the beach boys. Brian was to picky. SO they are doing here what they beach boys did in the studio. These guys sound just like them and i think they do an amazing job
In the studio the Boys played on the recording with help from the Wrecking Crew. Wanna know why the bass line translated so well live because Brian played it on the record version and live through 1964 into 1965. They sang the vocals once and then did an Overdub for a 2nd Vocal Track. They sang as a group amd doubled only once. The Track lay out is 1st Gen- Basic, Overdub Instruments, 1st Vocals. 2nd Gen-Basic, Overdub Instruments and 1st Vocals with Double sung at same time. Brian was working with Three Track.
@@jamespfitz he is exactly on the mark about the early recordings. It's well known, well, I mean except by YOU Jim hahaha. Of course live NOW, the Beach Boys guys aren't the singers they once where but I think in some ways a bit better.
This song was the follow up to I Get Around. This is when The Beach Boys really hit their stride. Gone were the corny surf and car songs that were basically I IV I progressions using old Chuck Berry riffs. Brian Wilson was starting to really work out more progressive ideas in the studio because he now had The Beatles and a stable of great acts like The Supremes as competition. Dance Dance Dance has the same basic formula as I Get Around with Mike Love singing the verse and Brian Wilson singing the falsetto during the chorus with Beach Boy harmonies underneath. These songs are a true celebration of life!
I had the 45 of this when I was a little boy. The B side was "The Warmth of the Sun". I loved to listen to Dance, Dance, Dance over and over and dance to it...really (:
Back visiting in '23. Fendertones SO nailed this presentation in '04. Beachboys pure!! Hope all you guys healthy and happy.
Just plain old FUN, feel good music!
Danelectro six-string bass for the intro... So cool and authentic. These guys are amazing.
It's like having the entire Wrecking Crew, all the vocal overdubs, and every session musician who played any part all on stage all at once. Look at this in awe: all from the mind of the Living God of Harmony: Brian Wilson.
Except it was only couple of members of the Wrecking Crew on this. It's mostly the band. It's now been debunked.
Boy these guys are good!
The Beach Boy's music was enormously more complex and hard to perform than one might think. These folks really pull it off!
Brian wrote the Bass line for this and played it in the studio.
Now you see how many multi track layers of music Brian Wilson had to arrange to make one record in the studio. Genius.
I was at this concert n what a great concert they put on, and everyone was dancing and having a great time!
Lucky you😁sure it was fantastic
This was an epic effort. (is it true they did other musicians music on another date (s)? Thanks
The Beach Boys were my first concert back in 63. Glad the Fendertones are keeping it alive.
mine was Van Halen in Shreveport.
I wish it was Beach Boys !! I was born in the wrong era
Outstanding group. The instruments pretty much nail the old Wrecking Crew tones. Wow!! The vocals are excellent. A few intonation problems here and there... but nothing serious. This incredible music needs to live on. The current band that calls themselves the Beach Boys isn't doing very well.
Yes they were fabulous 😂wish they would tour👏👏👏

Quite impressive to find THAT many Beach Boys fanatics in one room. Well done!
What ever happened to this group? Their music sounds so great to me at least, extremely close to the originals.
Hard to support 8/9 singers and the whole band too!
These guys shoot the lights out. Love them. BB would no doubt approve!!!!
Wtf...how could anyone dislike this?
Exactly
Awesome rendition of this Beach Boys classic! The kid with the glasses sounded exactly like the late Carl Wilson! The boy absolutely nailed it!!!
Damn, what production and vocals incredible.
This is excellent 😂😂😂😂
I can't stop watching the fender tones ,they are extremely talented and look like they are having so much fun.started by stumbling on there remake of monkeys uncle.
Just.Sensational.
Yep🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man, they sound great!
These gentlemen nailed it, very, very, well done.
Damn! You guys have a pulse of the early 60s. Sounds terrific!
whoever mixes this group knows their stuff..Great sound and talent..Fun,Fun,Fun...Dance,Dance,Dance!!!
Amazing so long ago still young kids then. Now grown with families.
Waves of energy from these guys- great stuff!
Love the Fendertones. Fabulous sound.
The BEST BB's tribute
I don’t think anyone has said how spot on the lead vocal was.
I’ve always found Mike’s original annoying and diluting any rock quality the song had.
This one rocks all the way!
That baritone sax!!!!
These guys don't just do the song, they do the record.
Exactly!!

Only if you had your own car.
Granted we listened over 3” monoral speakers, but I always heard it as “dance dance dance right there in the car!”
As a life long Beach Boys fan, I commend you for some really awesome sun n surf sound.
Ditto!
I totally agree !!!!
Fantastic! Nothing like 60s music we grew up in the best era for music
It proves how great Mike Love was ......he knew what he was doing......peace and LOVE (Mike Love)
Great sound, great to hear young musicians are into our old music. You nailed it guys.
You guys I would love to listen to you live
Guy doing Mike's lead sounds like Al, reminds me of Paul Dano - Paul Dano portrayed Brian Wilson
They have no right to be so brilliant
i really like the the fendertones songs there up beat and cool
WOW !! They nailed down the sound .
Brian's music is timeless!

God bless these guys...true classical musicians in every sense - playing classical music as accurately and reverently as possible.
Great musicians. Loved it.

It's more like a cover orchestra
close my eyes, I'm a teenager back in the 60's, hanging out at the neighborhood pool. Good times, indeed
Part of the soundtrack of our lives! Movin' - groovin' - shakin' and shimmying!

Agreed, look at the live performances of Pet Sounds and Smile and you’ll see Brian does it too!
Let 'em bitch. These guys are great.

Talk about capturing the grandeur! That is a fantastic arrangement and a stellar performance.
Love these guys! Absolutely the best. So cool!
Beautiful 😅😅😅
Awesome harmonies! Not an easy accomplishment when it involves so many voices, so my hat's off to this group. I wonder if they're still touring?
They don't tour. They claim it's just a hobby.
thank you for keeping the BB5 music alive ...........this takes an incredible amount of work to accomplish and it's not lost on me !!
Adds tremendous energy to an already energetic song...love it!
Brian Wilson inspires everyone. Great performance. Love these guys !
Truly great sounds.
Not only are vocals SPOT ON, as usual, the band sounds just like "The Wrecking Crew". Excellent!
Daddy C - East Coast - USA
This song will get you on your feet.

these guys are fabulous !
Fantastic! Mike Love actually worked with them on Surf's Up. And Chad Odhner (glasses, blue shirt) has sung onstage with Brian Wilson.
It's amazing how good this group.
Awesome!!!!!!!!
Id like to hear these guys do Fun, Fun, Fun.
Some critic once described the sound of the BBs as "roller rink in the sky"-and you've got it down- what a lovely airy spacious quality this has!
Wow Wow Wow Awesome thanks fendertones please do more and new music Videos. !!!
Amazing--they nailed it again !! How do they do it??? This has to be one of their best covers, if not THE best? 7-28-17

I give them credit for including the great instrumentation in these BB songs. Lots of people who do these covers focus on the vocals.

Love it still today!
