I really want to try my hand at some mosaic stitches. However, I don't enjoy all the ends!! This stitch shows the floating of the yarn on the sides and that reduces the ends on the side of the project. Thank you, for sharing this technique.

I totally agree! I deliberately choose methods that reduces ends whenever possible.

Love that this is reversible. You use and such fun color combos. I need to be braver with my color combos. Paintbox yarn comes in some themed color packs that might help give me color combining confidence. Oooh, that's another video suggestion: color theory and how to pick colors for crochet projects.

YES! Sounds good. On a swatch you can be bold with color without the commitment. So if it doesn't work out, it's not a total loss or time or money.

Also, have you tried to do this where you do the DC in front of the chains instead of over them like a spike stitch?

Yes! And then it's a different fabric on the reverse side! I'm sure though that there are other methods I haven't tried. You mentioned three in your Tournament of Stitches! I will go check it out.
