    Thank you so much for this clear and helpful tutorial 💖 I think that people is never too old to learn something new. I’m going to take over this technology right after Christmas. I'm a little over 70 years, and I think that the brain must be vigorous. I love different crochet techniques.
    Happy Holidays and Greetings from Valkeakoski, Southern Finland

    This was great! I hadn't known at all about the 2-row Mosaic crochet until I was reading through your beautiful book Colorful Crochet Knitwear, which explains very well, but I could not understand where the double crochet is hooked into - what part of the stitch. It is so helpful to see it done. Thank you!

      You are so welcome! I had no idea either until I started looking into it more. I love them both!!

    Thank you so much! Now I understand the standard mosaic crochet. Normally I do the easier way. Greetings from Germany.

      You’re welcome 😊 And yes, the other way can be a lot easier, but the look is so different! It's good to have options!

    This was a wonderful video. I am loving my adventure in mosaic crochet. At one point when chasing colors you say "twist the yarn" but I can't quite figure out what you're doing. Can you please explain? Thanks so much!

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  4 года назад +2

      Yay! I'm so glad you liked it! And yes, I am also a bit obsessed with it! I do the twisting technique around minute 6:55. You just basically pass the unused yarn around the strand that you are using at the moment so that you can "carry" it along to the next row. Hope this makes sense. It's really nothing complicated.

    This is great thanks I wanna learn and do my own designs! Although it get confused about the twists you do really fast 😅 I get lost

      What do you mean by twists? When I turn at the end of the row?

    thank you for the video! the purple colour here is a bit difficult to see and if a larger hook/thicker yarn was used I think it would help to be even clearer.

    Is the LDC another name for the Front Post Double Crochet? If not, how are they different?

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  3 года назад +2

      Hi Beth. They are not the same. The Ldc is a normal double crochet, just worked 2 rows down and at the front of your work (so the stitch doesn't go around the prev row, it's only worked as you normally would in the corresponding st 2 rows down). A Front Post dc is worked around the POST of a st. For that you need to go in between stitches from the front to the back, and then around the corresponding st and between that one and the next stitch to the front. You end up "hugging" the stitch, which creates more texture on your work. I hope this helps!

    Great work, is there special yarn for crotcheting bags or is just the normal cardigan yarn? Kindly advise

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  3 года назад +1

      Hi! It all depends on the final product that you want, but I prefer to make bags with cotton yarn that is around DK weight. But I have made them with wool before too, so I guess it's up to you!

    Is this standard Mosaic? I have watched other tutorials and they change colour every row and I haven’t see the ch1, sk1 before.

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  Год назад +1

      Hi! Yes, this is what I call Standard Mosaic Crochet. A different variation of Mosaic Crochet is what I call Single-Row Mosaic (where colors change every row and it's only worked on the RS - I also have a tutorial for that one). It is sometimes also called overlay mosaic. Unfortunately, both techniques are usually referred to as Mosaic Crochet and it's up to the maker to figure out which technique it is.

    I crochet left handed would I start from the left?

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  11 месяцев назад

      Hi! You should work the row as you do for a left handed and read the chart from right to left on RS and left to right on WS, just like right-handed crocheters would do. This might mirror the motif on your work, but will work for most mosaic patterns. If you don't want that, then yes, you can read it the other way around. It probably won't make much difference, though! Hope this helps! x

    I want to use mosaic for ribbing on a cardigan:)

    This is interlock crochet not mosaic crochet. Mosaic crochet does not have any chain "spaces" AND it is only worked from right to left only.

    • @NomadStitches
      @NomadStitches  4 года назад +3

      Hi Lashawna. In my research I have found that there are a few variations of mosaic crochet. There is one that's worked only from right to left using the front and back loops of stitches and just one row per colour. I do have another video for this called mosaic crochet 8n rounds. But there is also this one that I am showing you. Interlock crochet is different from what I am showing you now. I know it can be confusing since both techniques use 2 colors and "fill" in the spaces. But it's done in a different way. I hope this helps clarify things.

      Hi!
      Have you tried looking at my blog post with the written explanation? This video is meant for beginners at Mosaic Crochet, not all crochet beginners since I don't go over all of the crochet basics. But maybe seeing it written down might make it easier to understand?
