Side stitch at the beginning of all upward sections on Fiamma.

This is a technique I use when starting upward sections on my Fiamma Brioche Scarf. It is a great way to close wedges and start the new section of wedges. It not to be confused with "dsl2tog on the side" as written in the pattern, which will be worked at the beginning of all downward sections. This is a technique I use every time I pass by a short row step as a way of getting clean lines and neat edges. In this video I show you how I do this on the Fiammy Shawl as you will use this technique when closing down sections of wedges and when making the wedges themselves. Beautiful 🫶
THANKS!!
Lovely! So colorful. I love it
Thank you! Cheers!
Oh my goodness, did you freehand or use a pattern? I wanna make one, I'm so jealous!! It's gorgeous 😍💜
Aw, thanks! It is one of my designs! Find the pattern here: nomadstitches.com/shop/p/confetti-dk-adult
@NomadStitches not kidding, you might be my new favorite designer, thank you so much for pointing me to your work. Absolutely *gorgeous*. 😍😍😍💜
@@catie5939 You're very sweet! THANK YOU!! x
I love your work and you are my favorite designer. The creativity and attention to detail you put into each piece is truly inspiring. It’s clear you pour so much love and skill into your work, and it really shines through in every stitch. Cheers
Wow, thank you so much!! 🥰😘
Ugh. I'm struggling and I love this vest pattern! Any chance you can post pictures after row three and row four? Actually a video of all the key steps would be nice too. :-)
Nvm! I just realized you have a video tutorial for help with the rounded hem short rows which is where I was struggling! 😊
Woohoo! So glad you could figure it out! x
Você tem ess receita em português?
No, I am sorry!
This is beautiful!! Amazing job🩷🩷🩷
THANK YOU!!
Hello I ourchased the pattern for the Aurora vest. I have tried this stitch on the gauge but it took a lot of time crocheting as finding the little v at back took some effort. If I tried going faster I would miss the back v. Any tips for makingbit easier? Thanks
Hi! I totally get it! It definitely takes some practice to get used to it. Using a really pointy hook can help. Also, worry about the back of the V only when working on the WS, that way the RS will be ok. But don't worry about it too much on the RS since the WS won't make much of a difference. This might help! x
Ah ha! That is a very clever solution, thank you very much !!
Question for you: When you have a sweater that is virtually the same front to back, how do you add a permanent identifier without applying a label?
I like to add a tiny bit of yarn with a slip not on the back. That really helps! But tbh, most of the time I just find the almost invisible seam which takes longer than it should if I just took the time to add a marker of some kind!!
Simple. ❤
My fave too!
Personally i like folded more but simple looks good as well
Yes! I feel like i need another one now!
I can’t tell you what the difference is- but there is definitely a bigger one than I thought there’d be
It is strange how much of an impact it makes!
I accidentally made a whole scarf slip stitch ribbing style when I was first learning. I thought I was doing single crochets, until I showed my grandma & she was like "did you knit this?"
hahaha! That's so awesome!! I bet it took forever but also was so beautiful!
I love laramiloops patterns
Yeah, she's great!
This is what I was looking for! I wanted to know if you had any raglans in your book. I’m very excited!
Also excited to try the circular yoke with your recommendations. 🥰
Wonderful news! Glad you enjoyed it! x
Thank you for showing the back side!!
No problem!!
(That logo is FIRE)
And thanks!!
Love this!! Love your patterns! I thought I’d never be able to make colourwork garments that look like those classic styles seen in knitting. I would love it even more if you put some of the colourwork swatches on the screen two at a time so I can compare side by side. Just some feedback! ♥️
Thanks for the feedback! a good idea for another time! x
You are incredible!
AH! Thank you! x
Thank you for your video. Unfortunately, I found the photographing of the crochet demonstration very difficult to see, as you tip/tilt and move your work a lot when you’re crocheting. The camera was set from above, rather than in front of your work.
Hi! I am sorry you didn't enjoy the video! x
Purchased to access tutorial and didn’t receive the pattern I paid for. 😢
Hi! Please email me and I would love to help with this!
Coupon code doesn’t work
The pattern is free on my blog or to Plyful members.
I love this ❤❤❤❤
Yay! Me too! One of my favorite edgings!
I don't want to know how long it took because it was worth it! It's stunning!
Thank you! It's a surprisingly quick project, actually!
Sky blue😍😍😍
xx
Man i cant even imagien how much time that took, they look amazing though sk the pay off, well, paid off
Each of my projects takes about 3 weeks to complete. some a bit more, some a bit less!
Is the top you are wearing one of your patterns?? Haha, whoops just read your caption...pattern coming soon?? 😊
haha! Sorry, probably coming next summer! x
Not a good idea, you can cut yourself on some yarns and getting a shred of yarn in the cut is painful.
So true! I try to avoid it with harder fibres like cotton. Definitely NOT acrylic! That is impossible to cut!
Cause sometimes a womans gotta do what a womans gotta do
100% YES!
I bought your book because of this pattern and I haven’t made it yet 🙈 Seeing it move definitely moves this pattern up on my project list 😍
Wonderful! It is definitely the most fun!
Wow
😘
Would you do the reverse for adapt a mosaic crochet pattern to a mosaic knitting pattern?
Absolutely! All you have to do is remove the Xs and work the sl sts when the color of the st is different as the color of the row. I.e. on grey rows, you will sl all white sts and viceversa!
Gorgeous, what pattern is that? Please and thank you ❤
It's a shawl pattern that I am working on! It will be ready in the fall! x
I love this video, it's one of only two videos I have found that really talks about short rows. I'm currently working on a shirt (just started) that is supposed to mimic a well know shirt but the shirt that I'm loosely replicating is a knitted shirt that is created in panels with sleeves that have a ''shoulder cap'' (short knit rows on the top of the sleeve to make a nice fit) and I couldn't for the life of me find any crochet patterns that I liked with that type of sleeve (there were very few patterns overall with that type of shoulder). I'm not very experienced with making clothing and not at all with modifying patterns so I ended up choosing a raglan pattern (the only type of shirt I've made before) but I HATE the way raglan sweaters sit around the neck and this shirt ''needs'' to have a pretty tight neckline to make sure the ribbing of the neckline isn't looking off and to make sure it's similar to the shirt I'm ''copying''. I'm soooo grateful for your video so that I can modify the pattern I'm working with confidence and without ruining that stitch-count. It baffels me how few videos talk about this and how few easily available patterns actually implement this technique, if it weren't for the fact that I've crocheted a few wool socks I wouldn't even think about looking this up. Again, thank you so much!
Ah! This makes me so happy! Short rows are the best and it also baffles me how little people know about them or use them in crochet garments! I usually use them in some way or another on my designs. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I love the sound of those sleeves!!
Really cook video and editing. You look so cheerful! Cutr clothes too
Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you!! I was thiiiiis close to snap my needle and hook because of icord. I tried crocheting it, the yarn fell off. Same goes to try knitting it. It is so frustrating because the far left always slipped off 😭
AH! YES!! I have been there! So glad I could help! x
Slow down
Hi! Sorry you found it too fast. Have you tried rewatching it or slowing down the speed of the video? x
Thank you so much for this tutorial ! ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
I want to walk in a colorful magic street!!!
yes yes yes!! That's exactly how it feels!
I must know whereeeeeee
I don’t really understand how this is a strong cord- it looks like just a modified slip stitch chain. How is this stronger than something like a waistcoat stitch ?
Hi! So this is basically a chain with modified slipped stitches. The fact that you go over the sts twice makes it very strong and not stretchy, perfect for straps and a sturdy edging. Waistcoat stitch is worked off single crochet stitches, which is quite different.
Thanks!
Thank you! x
Excellent demonstration! (I have not a clue what that other commentor meant by saying your 'pairing of the yarn & hook were off' - your technique is just fine!)
Ha! THank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it! x
Thank you for the clear instructions. That being said, I was distracted. My eyes were focussing on the multiple times you had to reinsert your hook. The pairing of the yarn and hook were off. 😢 Something to keep in mind for your future postings and projects.
Thank you for your feedback. I hope you got the gist of it! x
Thank you for showing us this technique.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's such a great edging!
This is a perfect edging, love the look so much better than going through only one strand and having the large gaps. Thanks for sharing this method😍
YES!! Me too! I used to get that huge gap too and now I am never going back! x
