    So hours after hours of watching your video I finally realized what you were saying because you crochet much better than me. I slowed the video down and watched you work. I realized what I waa doing wrong and had a aha moment. I'm zipping along now. I wish I could a pic. It's just beautiful. Thank you💖

    You made another pattern, but the concept is still the same. When I make this I'll make sure I check off row by row, if I want the pattern from the graph, or I may be doing some frogging. The pattern done by an individual is their choice to keep it or frog it. You still do great work showing us how to do this. Thank you.

    When I saw this was the Greek Key I thought of my mentor at Renfest. I learned card weaving on an inkle loom from her and the pattern she started teaching me was the Greek Key. I thought how nice it would be to make a throw for her with the colors she provided when teaching me. Green and gold. Imagine my surprise when I saw the colors you chose for your sample. I am taking that as a sign that I do indeed need to make this throw for her!

    I think having the diagram in the photo as you are crocheting will be helpful. That way the viewer can have a visual reference to what you are doing.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  2 года назад

      It's so the drop down stitch can rest into the surface of the project and not pop out. Ch 2 provides more slack so it came mesh better.

      It seems difficult at first, but becomes second nature the further you get into a mosaic pattern!

  • @lisastott4343
    @lisastott4343 4 года назад +2

    I saw a basic mosaic tutorial where you fasten off after each row and started on the right with new color. Achieved the same effect but seemed much less complicated. Could that be done with this pattern as well?

      Lisa Stott I was wondering the same thing. I think we’ll have to try it to find out ourselves. If I try it first I’ll let you know. I know I have the other way in my head and found this confusing but then I read a few patterns done this way and then I read the chart for this pattern and I think it will be just as easy. The thing is to block out what you’ve learned when doing it the other way and just focus on this way. Admittedly I haven’t try this yet. I’m going to try this sample and see if I’m right that this is as easy as long as you basically forget the other way. I’ll try and report back what I find out. Good luck 😉

      @@sherrywortman2267 i think the terminology..... i believe this is interlocking crochet.... which i think is a bit complicated. The simpler version is mosaic crochet. Some GOOD you tuber teachers are Fiber fox and Tinna Thourdittor

    Why do you chain 2 for the spaces while only skipping one stitch?

    • @medaily57
      @medaily57 4 года назад +2

      It allows the pretty side of the throw to remain flat and the bulk of the overlay pushes to the back. Otherwise, when you dc over the chains there would be a lump on the front. I have been working on the 2020 Mosaic CAL and I promise it will make sense once you get a few rows in!

      Anna C Simon scroll down and just above where it says “Worksheet
      If you would like the worksheet that is shown in the tutorial, you can download it here or click on the picture to get it.” There is a blue box that says download pattern. Click on that blue button. I know today there’s a lot of those button that say download PDF and they are just ads but in this case it is the actual pattern. Hope this helps. Happy crocheting 🧶

    I find the overlay method much nicer and the edges are much neater. It is easy to do an envelope border to hide the ends. Not a fan off this nset method..

    I have never seen mosaic crochet done with chains or the dc done that way, weird. When you skip 1 stitch do you put 2 chains, that also makes no sense?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  Год назад

      It makes the drop down sink into the project instead of pushing the drop stitches out. It keeps blanket flat.

  • @perfumetester10
    @perfumetester10 4 года назад +4

    This is interlocking crochet not mosaic. Terminology. Mosaic crochet is worked from right to left only and alternating colors rows. No chain spaces.

    A bit confused that written pattern says multiples of 6 + 3....

    • @homesteadknitting4918
      @homesteadknitting4918 4 года назад

      Make a chain in multiples of 6 to make it the length you want then add 3 chains at the very end and then do row one and so on.

    • @lynda9034
      @lynda9034 4 года назад

      @@homesteadknitting4918 but in the video from The Crochet Crowd, Michael says multiples of 6 +4. Which I did and it turned out perfect. Just wasn't sure why the pattern is different. In the video he says something about it, if you are making it as an add-on you would do 6 + 3 but not sure what that means either. But the +4 worked
