    I love the way you do tutorials, your pace is perfect, and unlike the majority of other channels, you use common sense, and show what the project is supposed to look like before and during, and you recap and explain the repeat - most channels only focus on each individual stitch, reciting & repeating how to make simple stitches hundreds & hundreds of times, which causes the viewer to not be able to focus on the big picture ("Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, one double crochet made") - there is nothing more irritating than listening to someone recite the steps of how to make a double crochet hundreds of times! Many channels begin the video without showing what the project looks like, so frustrating.
    I almost quit using RUclips altogether for crochet pattern tutorials, because so many channels spend too much time on explaining basic stitches on videos that are not labeled as beginner stitch tutorials - even if I was someone who had never crocheted before, those types of videos would still be ridiculous. And there's so many channels who teach this way, that it's difficult to find the few reasonable channels here on RUclips.
    Sorry for my rant, but the amount of channels that I come across like that is unbelievable, it boggles my mind because they have so many viewers and subscribers, which makes me think there must be something very wrong with people, like they can't think for themselves, it seems like channels who teach that way would be the minority, not the majority. So, your channel is very refreshing!

    i learn so much from ur tutorials! Have made 3 patterns already. Thinking of making a drawstring bag with a round. Just thinking how i should insert a circle base

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 года назад +4

      Thank you! I would recommend working from the bottom up by doing a magic circle or chain 4 and slip stitch to form a ring and then work into that ring starting with 9 dcs because this pattern is a multiple of 9. You will keep working creating the circle with a standard increase so that you maintain your multiple. [Example. Row 2 you work 2 dc's into each stitch for a total of 18 stitches, Row 3 work 1dc in first stitch then 2 dc into second stitch, 1dc, 2dc in next you'll have 27 stitches at the end of row 3 and keep increasing until you reach your desired size. You would then stop increasing and begin working the mosaic starting with row 1 in the tutorial. Hope this helps!

    Hi Courtney, that was one awesome tutorial! I was able to see very clearly the chain 1, stitch when you started each round. I wanted to share that my joins are showing up in the front of my work, instead of on the side, where it’s more discreet! From watching this video, I believe that either my stitch count was off, or I was not joining correctly, and/or I was missing a stitch. Here’s my question, in mosaic crochet shouldn’t the join always be on the side of the work? Thank you so much! Alicia

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 года назад

      😘😘😘😘🥰🥰🥰🥰thank you so much!! When you say that your joins are showing, do you mean you have a little bit of gapping? If that's the case you might not be tightening up the color we are dropping as you close your round. When you complete the join you are picking up the new color and pulling up that loop, you need to pull the yarn we dropped to tighten up the last stitch of the previous round. You could also be allowing the first stitch in New color to get too loose so make sure you are keeping it snug befire moving on down the round. On the join in the front, when I make a pillow for instance, when I am ready to close the top and bottom of my tube I turn the seam/join so it's on the side then finish closing ends. That way my join is not in the front...in case it is slightly visible...I just work it where it's in the front then I shift it to side position. Hope that helps, if I've totally misunderstood your question I'm super sorry and please let me know so I can try again lolol💙💙

      I messed that recap up!!!! My work demonstrated it correct but I did not read my stitches right in that recap 😂 I am so sorry,
      Riw 7 repeat is 1dc, 1sc, 1dc, 2SC, 1dc, 1sc, 1dc 1SC. Each repeat has a total of 9 stitches. Hope this helps and again sorry!!!

    Hi, I found this to be a very useful tutorial. It went well when I was doing smaller projects. I am currently working on a bigger one - a laptop bag and when I do the joins, I am seeing it move to the right and the line of join is tilting slowly towards the right. I made sure that I was skipping the last stitch when I join, but I am not able to correct the issue. Can you please advise me on this problem?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 года назад

      If you are maintaining your count then most likely you are working into the wrong loop as you are joining. Try alternating between joining the row into the back loop only, then rows that will be covered by a dc go completely into the stitch as you close the round to move up. Only other thing I can suggest is check to make sure you are keeping the yarn tight that you are dropping, if you are allowing it to get loose as you start working in the new color that might cause your stitches to look the way you describe. Hope this helps!

    Hello! How would I do this in the flat? I am always unsure of how many stitches to add to the multiples.

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 года назад +1

      Hi! For this design to be worked flat you chain in a MULTIPLE of 10 still but you will add 4 stitches on the end (MULTIPLE of 10 +4 for flat). You will work the traditional sc in the first and last stitch of your rows, which is not shown on this tutorial. Other than than you follow the exact repeats I give amd just work flat, you will have 2 stitches left at the end of your row after you complete the last repeat. In the second to last stitch you restart the repeat for 1 stitch, then traditional sc in that last stitch. Hope this helps, let know if you have any other questions 😊

    • @illydea
      @illydea 3 года назад

      @@FiberFoxStudios That helps so much! A follow up question, if you can help me with it. Typically, are 4 stitches the standard number to add to any multiples? Cos I am trying my hand out at designing some charts, using your "How To" video for making charts as a guide, and this is the part that stumps me. Thanks again for your help!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 года назад +1

      @@illydea not always but it's a good place to start. Each design can be a little different but it's for the most part in your control, because it's determined by how you decide to break the pattern up to define your multiple. So if you chose to set up your patterns similar to me than you will find that you can do the +4 the majority of the time. You would follow my rule of restarting the repeat for the second to last stitch to even out your design so it matches the start of the row. Hope this helps some! Once it clicks for you, it will be so easy so keep trying!

    • @illydea
      @illydea 3 года назад

      @@FiberFoxStudios thanks so much for the advice! I will definitely try it your way of adding 4 stitches first and see how it goes from there! Have been devouring your videos lately, so am totally inspired to try new hings. Again, thank you! :)
