Billy Idol and Steve Stevens, one of the greatest duos of the 1980's.
I saw them at Bonnaroo about ten years ago...still DESTROYING IT on stage!!
💪💥💪
Saw them last Summer and they were both still amazing!
"Dancing with Myself", "White Wedding", "Rock the Cradle"
Hell, yes
100%
This song is SAVAGE - a perfect mix of rock, pop, catchy lyrics, originality, and charisma. Music today is weak sauce in comparison.
You said it man!
40+ years later and this tune still gives me goose bumps.
White Wedding, Eyes Without a Face, are great too
Hell, yes
Billy Idol is a f’ing rockstar!
Billy Idol is punk-pop & awesome sex appeal 🤘🏼🎤🎸🙌🏻❤️
"Dancing with myself" and "Mony Mony" can't lose! Peace ✌️ and ❤ Gary 😊 80's rule!
Steve Stevens on guitar… man, he was and still is a supremely inventive guitarist. Gets all kinds of insane sounds out of the most basic effects pedals, and equally able to go onstage with just an acoustic guitar and rock the house behind Billy. There’s a version of the song from Billy’s “VH1 Storytellers” performance where they do exactly that, and it holds up every bit as well as the original. Check it out if you get the chance!😎🎶
Seems like only yesterday this song was out. Now he’s 68 yrs old. Hard to believe how fast time went.
68 and can still get it!!!
And The Cage (2022) is my favorite song of his, and I didn't think anything could top Rebel Yell, and White Wedding and Rock the Cradle. He is still just amazing.
'Eyes Without a Face' next please.
Love Eyes without a Face!
Sexy back then, sexy to this day ❤ Yes, Billy has that "it" factor that all the greats do! Cannot emphasize how huge he was in the 80's....right behind MJ and Madonna.
Oh he was gorgeous but I never would have wanted him for a boyfriend, he got around 😂. But for a night, oh I would have been up for that back then.p when I was young and wild.
He was gorgeous too.
'Was' is so very true, the man has not aged well probably due to a wild lifestyle
@@samolevski1119 WAS is the operative word.
One of the sexiest man to ever live
She cried…more more more 😉
As an older man it takes me back and fills me with sadness at the same time 😅
Cried a REBEL YELL so strong he wrote a song about that night 😬🤪
The best reactor on RUclips!!!
you were hooked from the beginning, so were us 80's kids!
So happy you discovered Billy Idol! My favorite by him is “1982. White Wedding. Billy Idol. Long version Part 1 & 2” Here's a link:

❤️🔥VITAL IDOL IS SUPREME❤️🔥
"Mony Mony" video by Billy and Co. is the BOMB!!! And yes, Steve Stevens is SHREDDING in this video...................great reaction, brother!
It has to be the live version too
@@NZLatic I agree!
I remember how this song blew my mind when it came out. I played it over and over again. Truly a life changing CLASSIC. So hard driving but smooth at the same time. Creativity at it’s highest level!
bet ya don't confuse those 2 Billy's again. Now throw Billy Squire in the mix the first one that comes to mind is Stroke with more great guitar. All time fave guitar for me is Joe Perry of Aerosmith
😂💯
Billy Preston, too
Billy Ocean
Lol! I'm SURE he'll never compare those two again! Can you imagine Billy Joel singing this rocking song? Don't think so
YES YES YES. THE STROKE❤🔥 PLEEEEEASE
The fast reverb sound you heard during the solo was the guitarist (Steve Stevens) taking a toy Ray gun and pressing it against the guitar pickups to get various wacky lazer like sounds. He’s known for doing this on multiple songs and his live shows. Glad you caught that 😉 👏
Steve Stevens, awesome guitarist. Got that sound in the solo by holding a kid's toy "Ray Gun" to the pickups.
When I first heard and saw this song on TV in early 1984 as a 16 year old it just blew my mind. I was already a huge Billy fan after his first album but this just took it to another level. I saw Billy play in 2019 and he was still awesome and, unlike most older rock stars, in incredible physical shape. He was ripped! And Steve Stevens, the guitarist on this video, was playing too. What a couple of legends
🎸🥁🖤WHITE WEDDING!!!
it's a nice day for a white wedding.....a nice day to start again....
Guitarist Steve Stevens also played the Bad Album by Micheal Jackson
I beg your pardon, but I believe that was Eddie Van Halen on Beat It.
Steve Stevens was on Dirty Diana... so yes he was on the BAD album RIP MJ 🙏🏽
@mslisadianemorse BEAT IT was on the THRILLER album and Eddie only did the solo
@@PML78 well, getting older here! 🤣🤣
@mslisadianemorse I'll say Vintage 😁...😉
Shon you're reactions are the best on YT for sure. You're understanding of lyrical content is pretty good for a newbie lol! Billy Idol was 1 of many posters I had on my wall in the early 80s and now you HEAR WHY! A different vibe but 1 of my fav bands is 311- Homebrew.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy all your reactions to the music of my youth! I get goosebumps from your energy. It's exactly the same energy I had when they were first released.
I stood in front of the TV and sang my heart out with Billy on VH1 back in the day when it was cool. My mother woukd come in, shake her head and leave.
Memories! ❤ Billy Idol.
Your smile is infectious 😊…..Billy came out of the British Punk scene of the late 1970s. His guitar player, Steve Steven’s is amazing in his own right. Try the title track from Steve’s solo album “Atomic Playboys”.
He hit the scene like a nuclear bomb man.
You have to do Shock to the System just for the backstory.
Billy was in Los Angeles when riots broke out in response to the acquittal of the cops who brutalized Rodney King. He got so excited over people rising up he jumped on his motorcycle and drove around through the riots. He said it was the most punk rock thing he had ever seen in his life. (Keep in mind he was part of the OG punk scene in England so he doesn't say that lightly)
He was so impressed and hopeful he wrote Shock to the System as a tribute to the people of LA who threw down
Billy one of his best songs❤, thanks Shon!
Did you notice that Elvis curl in his lip, he's definitely an idol ! Peace ✌️ ☮️ Gary
Love ya reaction. His Is name is really William Broad , he once got a report card at school saying Billy is idle, idol.Or so the story goes. One guitar you got Steven Stevens …❤They came to Australia for some rock awards and the host asked him what ya been up to in Australia ,Billy replied I’ve had some heavy sex since I got here.😂❤
The strange sound at around 5 minutes and 10-12 seconds is done by the guitarist using a toy ray gun pushed up against the guitar's pickup and it is so cheap and creative and I never knew how they did it till about 5 years ago. And due to being almost 50 and having an older sister that loved him from just before he came over from England that pisses me off and makes me smile!
I came to say this same thing about the toy ray gun. Been about the same length of time that I learned about it too.
@@mikeharris3733 Lol! I always thought it was an effect or something. Glad I am not the only one!
Always a crowd pleaser….. such energy
Great reaction my friend. Congratulations. This is a fantastic song, full of energy.
Billy Idol - Dancing with myself ❤❤❤
Billy Idol - White Wedding ❤❤❤
Steve Stevens is one of the great guitarists. He played guitar for Michael Jackson's song Dirty Diana and hes also played on many film scores. If you've seen Top Gun then you'll have heard his guitar playing - Top Gun anthem (the intro) He won a Grammy in 1996 for his work on Top Gun An exceptional musician and he's had a working relationship with Billy Idol for more than 30 years 😊
OHHH Mony Mony!!! #1 for audience participation! and Steve Stevens shreds that guitar! And they're still out there rocking in his Grandpa years.
Gotta love Billy!
Seriously, one of the best rock moments, best performances. Billy Idol- underrated as hell! Steve Stevens- heir to Jimi's insane creativity.
Seen his show when I was 16. Crazy time
Thats Steve Stevens on guitar
That solo made me love this song even more 🎸🔥🤘🏽
Gotta love Billy Idol. he is still touring for love of the music. he SURE don't need the money $60,000,000 (60 million)
Billy idol is one cool dude. Do white wedding by him. He’s always full of energy.
My girls and I definitely had a Rebel Yell in the 80's, 😂😂😂😂 Billy Idol was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Trivia: Rebel Yell is Kentucky Bourbon. Apparently The Rolling Stones and Billy were at a party drinking this bourbon and the idea of a song came to his head.
More, more, more: In 1993 he released ‘Cyberpunk’, an album that somewhat anticipates the sounds in Prodigy's ‘The Fat Of The Land’. This happened in a wave of cyberpunk fever with some really good and/or interesting movies: re-release of "Blade Runner (Director's cut), Johnny Mnemonic, Strange Days, Demolition Man, Max Headroon (TV), The Lawnmower Man Hackers...
The party was for Mick Jaggers birthday and Mick , Keith and Ron Wood had a bottle turned up drinking from it. Billy saw the bottle and recognized a confederate soldier on the label and that the liquior was called Rebel Yell. Out of curiosity he asked them if it was something they had special made or owned the rights to. They told Billy it was from America and they had nothing to do with it. Billy said great , cause he was gonna write a song and call his next album Rebel Yell. The rest is history ! !
Hot in the City is worth a listen!
Eyes without a face ❤
The savage use of that Tremolo bar is genius. Got to see BI a couple of times in the early '80s...we were so close you could smell the spike glue in his hair, lol.
BANGER
Bro, I love you for this! Been jamming Billy since I was 5...44 now and he will NEVER get old!!
The best sneer in the business!
Elvis would like to have a word.
I can't keep listening without the FIST PUMP !!!! 😆
Rock the Cradle of Love is another Billy banger.
One of the most fun 80's songs! I remember watching (back in that day) an interview with him and here came this proper British accent coming from him. I was like: oh, he's British? But, yeah, an icon of 80's rock!
Billy still killing it. He just released a live version of this and nails it.
Rock the cradle of love please
Cradle of Love is a good song ...under the radar 🤘🏽
I remember when I was a kid and a Billy Idol video came on and my mom saw him and goes "he sings like Elvis!"
It's savage in a delicious way! The perfect rock/pop song!
SO glad you liked billy! he is a god! i have seen him twice in the last 2 years. i grew up listening to him since i was 4 yrs old! dude you need to do on here, Dancing with myself, White Wedding, Eyes with out a face, cradle of love, mony mony, hot in the city and to be a love and Flesh for fantasy!
"To Be A Lover" is banger!
I saw them in like '82. Was 10 feet from the stage and they were wild. Energy off the charts.
You know, I looked up what an actual Rebel Yell sounded like--VERY different from what I think most of us pictured!!
In the early 20th century, they got a whole bunch of actual Confederate veterans together, and they each came up to the mic and recorded their version. They were all a bunch of high pitched, kind of quavery yips--didn't really sound much like yells, more like being surrounded by coyotes during their nightly howl sessions. Get enough people doing it at the same time, and I can definitely see it being intimidating on the battlefield, but it was 0% Dukes of Hazzard/YeeHAW, which is what I'd always pictured.
The real thing kinda works in the context of the song, but it's NOT AT ALL what I would have expected when I first heard this song decades ago!
Billy Idol - British
Billy Joel - American
And being British shows how different!..Elvis was watered down sex appeal, too shocking, the Brits had the freedom..
The lip curl is AWESOME!! Iconic!
It's definitely a playlist.
Dang Shon you bout to make me remember how old I am but I love it...memories! Great reaction.
Just discovered your channel, but Billy brought me in. I had to go back and binge watch about 20 of your reactions, and they've all been pretty fantastic as you pick up the lyrics quickly.
Steve Stevens was a guitar God!
I use to have a crush on him ❤ when I was a kid❤❤❤
Rocking song to the full extent!
The lip 😁🤩
Ahhhhhh takes me back to my crazy younger days - good times good times ❤
Billy Idol was huge in the 80s. Check out Dancing With Myself, Eyes Without A Face, Flesh For Fantasy, Don't Need A Gun and White Wedding if you want to hear more. All of those songs are great.
Heard the song hundreds of times and never knew those lyrics, great ear bro. ✌️
Every man wants an angel who lets her naughty side come out to play. Genius writing and marketing right there. Still a favourite.
Because he was so image-driven in the 80s, his amazing voice was often overlooked. But ya... amazing! Mony Mony and White Wedding are due next. HMFGLGF!
My friends and I were sooo in love with him❤great reaction❤
You've got to see his live version of Mony, Mony! SO much energy and the guitarist's moves are amazing. It's a lot of fun!
Something more recent from Billy Idol is the song Bitter Taste, released in 2021, I think. Still just as good as everything else he's done.
Man your energy is gold! I've messaged before to tell you how much love you and will always watch you, hear your comments/opinions on the classics you listen to because it always brings a smile to my face 😊 although, I do have an unrelated question... how come you never have a shirt on? Lol believe me... I don't mind, just wondered? Is there a reason behind it? All best kiddo! ❤
White wedding and eyes without a face, absolute musts from Billy idol. ^_^
His songs brought punk into the mainstream for a time. 'Eyes Without a Face' was very popular too as was 'White Wedding'.
Steve Stevens was a favorite for me back then - still is!! 😍This is a great song! And you, young Shon, picks it up straight away - relevant comments, you are in the zone!! Thank you!
Bro got to say i was not expecting such a good reaction video love your energy it felt real thanks 😁
They knew how to rock in the 80's.
billy and steve ; yay!!!
Love your reaction.
If a party was going flat, & you play that song, people are rockin again, 😁
YAY!!!
I love the energy Steve brings with that guitar. Still wears same swag, still a Rebel, still sexy, ladies still love him... He's now over 60, but if ya think he's going to stop rocking any time before he's literally forced to by Death himself, No way. 🔥🔥🤘✌
I saw Billy Idol in concert in about 1989. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. He was bloody amazing. Other songs I think you’d like are Dancing With Myself, Mony Mony, Cradle of Love and Don’t need a Gun
Your enthusiasm is electric🎉🎉
So much ENERGY !!
'White wedding' has this same energy.
'Eyes without a face' is deep. Eyes without a face...A TV camera?
Great Reaction, Shon! React to Billy's earlier videos that made us fall in love with him. 'White Wedding' and 'Dancing With Myself' original videos please. They are bangerz!
I lived it bro. It was incredible.......
