Fun story. As an '80s teen I would jam out to this song & of course the whole album actually. So one day my dad & my 5 y/o baby bro come out the house & I hear my brother ask, "so where we goin dad?" My dad says "IDK, where do you wanna go?" Baby bro comes back with, "How about Paradise City!" Dad says"what?!" Bro says (in all seriousness), "You know: where the grass is green & the girls are pretty." Had my dad &I in stitches!😂
😂😂😂😂As a kiddo who grew up in the 80s as well, I love your story. My mom ordered records back in the day… And this was long before Guns N’ Roses. At least long before I knew about them. In fact, I think I was in fourth grade. Anyway, she got me Prince, Purple Rain. Because oddly enough, I became obsessed with Prince for whatever reason. My entire life I’ve had an eidetic memory when it comes to music. I remember every single lyric to every song I have ever heard. Even if I hate the song. It sucks. It serves no practical purpose in real life. Anyway… I listen to the album, front and back. Darling Nikki was on there. Had no clue what the hell it meant… But had it memorized verbatim the whole in a hotel lobby ma$TuRbAt1ng w a Magazine…grinding etc. i’m happily singing my new found favorite song ever when my dad comes home and hears me. He lost his shit. I lost my album. End of story. I’m sorry it was so long.
That is brilliant!!! 🤣😂 Love that story! GNR had us all wanting to go to Paradise City! The 80's gave us so many great rock songs!!! This is very nostalgic and it transports me back to my teens!
That's cool. I agree something about this band seems to speak to young men specifically. First time I heard slash I knew I needed to get a guitar......I have so many now 😂

Their debut album is probably the best rock album ever. Every song is 10/10. They had success alter with November Rain and stuff like that, but the Apeitite for Destruction album was revolutionary

AC/DC - Bon Scott and b in b have more better songs - but no album as good as appetite.

@Shon - This Album (Appetite For Destruction) was what I call a "Press Play, and Walk Away" album. No skipping songs was needed. Every song was bad ass.
Classic band that is just timeless. Three amazing guitars, Duff, Slash and Izzy plus Steven on kicking drums. Axl’s vocals, rock perfection. Only a few bands can claim that make up like Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Eagles, Lynard Skynard and even Bon Jovi with the inclusion of keyboards. There are others as well. Plus they can all sing, which adds depth to vocals. These bands are successful because of undeniable talent. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

basically I was referring to the instrument setup and well rounded sound. I was not comparing them. I’ve seen all of those I mentioned live except Lynard Skynard, and I have to admit they are all, including Bon Jovi, amazing LIVE. Which have you seen live?

Are you saying 'synth', as in synthesizer? There are no synths in this song. Just guitar and bass guitars and drums. Funny you mention Axl reminding you of AC/DC. Axl briefly sang for AC/DC within the last couple of years.

I love this video. When the couple make out early in the video, and when the bouncer jumps up on stage to calm some of the crowd, and then they show him standing there like come on try me. I freaking love it.
They still haven’t forgotten where they came from. They kept themselves grounded. That’s just one of the reasons they are one of the greatest bands of all time. Best part about them as well is that they actually lived the songs they performed. Maybe not every song but close enough 😂 I absolutely love GnR! My musical soul will always remain in the 1970's but I love GNR. Robert Plant will always be my favorite frontman & Axl Rose is a very close second. His charisma & confidence is somethin else❤❤

I listen to the Appetite for Destruction album most mornings and I'm energised for the day.
I worked at Geffen Records at the time this band was just signed. All these guys lived in a couple of vans. They had nothing but talent and drive. Axl Rose was camped out in the reception area with his bicycle and a girlfriend until they recorded their first album and went straight to the top. Axl has a 5 octave vocal range. I LOVE this band. Great reaction

I was fortunate enough to see Guns N Roses right before they hit the big time. They opened for Motley Crue in 1987. You need to check out the video and song for It's So Easy! Another good one is Rocket Queen. Axl convinced his bandmate's gf to have sex with him and record it in the studio.It's in the song
This was my first album! I BEGGED for it when I was 10, 1992. My Nana got it for me for Christmas with a Walkman😄They regretted it because I LIVED in those headphones for a solid 6 months!! I loved this reaction! Brought me back to where it all started😁❤

Axl's voice was one of a kind at a time, and you loved it or you hated it, for me it was amazing and why I gravitated to the band like I did. And yeah, Brain Johnson of AC/DC has a similar bite to his voice as well, and probably why they had Axl fill in many years back when Brian had to take a break for medical reasons. Not only is this my favorite GnR tune, it's my favorite song period, and never fails to take me home.
Axl Rose actually substituted for ACDC singer Brian Johnson for a portion of their tour a few years ago after Brian broke an eardrum.
Just check out the entire Appetite For Destruction album for start to finish. You wont find a bad tune on it. 🤘

I could (and do) listen to G&R largely just for what Slash is doing on guitar. This is a great example of how with enough skill you can play almost any note, and make it sound 'right'.

August 6, 1988 several friends and I had lawn tickets for the Aerosmith show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (NY). GNR was the opening act and killed it. It was a let down when Aerosmith took the stage.
If you love this one, "Welcome to the Jungle" should definitely be your next Guns n' Roses song.
