Fun story. As an '80s teen I would jam out to this song & of course the whole album actually. So one day my dad & my 5 y/o baby bro come out the house & I hear my brother ask, "so where we goin dad?" My dad says "IDK, where do you wanna go?" Baby bro comes back with, "How about Paradise City!" Dad says"what?!" Bro says (in all seriousness), "You know: where the grass is green & the girls are pretty." Had my dad &I in stitches!😂
😂😂😂😂As a kiddo who grew up in the 80s as well, I love your story. My mom ordered records back in the day… And this was long before Guns N’ Roses. At least long before I knew about them. In fact, I think I was in fourth grade. Anyway, she got me Prince, Purple Rain. Because oddly enough, I became obsessed with Prince for whatever reason. My entire life I’ve had an eidetic memory when it comes to music. I remember every single lyric to every song I have ever heard. Even if I hate the song. It sucks. It serves no practical purpose in real life. Anyway… I listen to the album, front and back. Darling Nikki was on there. Had no clue what the hell it meant… But had it memorized verbatim the whole in a hotel lobby ma$TuRbAt1ng w a Magazine…grinding etc. i’m happily singing my new found favorite song ever when my dad comes home and hears me. He lost his shit. I lost my album. End of story. I’m sorry it was so long.
That is brilliant!!! 🤣😂 Love that story! GNR had us all wanting to go to Paradise City! The 80's gave us so many great rock songs!!! This is very nostalgic and it transports me back to my teens!
That's cool. I agree something about this band seems to speak to young men specifically. First time I heard slash I knew I needed to get a guitar......I have so many now 😂
Their debut album is probably the best rock album ever. Every song is 10/10. They had success alter with November Rain and stuff like that, but the Apeitite for Destruction album was revolutionary Nightrain and Rocket Queen are personal favorites
Agree - it’s incredible, has that hunger. Served Duff and Ian? Beers in Dublin 1990. Later that night, stood at a urinal in a club, beside Slash, as he pissed all over his snakeskin boots. Didn’t see Axl. AC/DC - Bon Scott and b in b have more better songs - but no album as good as appetite.
@Shon - This Album (Appetite For Destruction) was what I call a "Press Play, and Walk Away" album. No skipping songs was needed. Every song was bad ass.
Classic band that is just timeless. Three amazing guitars, Duff, Slash and Izzy plus Steven on kicking drums. Axl’s vocals, rock perfection. Only a few bands can claim that make up like Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Eagles, Lynard Skynard and even Bon Jovi with the inclusion of keyboards. There are others as well. Plus they can all sing, which adds depth to vocals. These bands are successful because of undeniable talent. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
basically I was referring to the instrument setup and well rounded sound. I was not comparing them. I’ve seen all of those I mentioned live except Lynard Skynard, and I have to admit they are all, including Bon Jovi, amazing LIVE. Which have you seen live?
Considering how absolutely whacked out on various drugs Slash is when they recorded this, that guitar comment is a HUGE compliment. But, ya, Slash definitely "has" it. Over 15 years sober now.
This entire album is amazing and still rocks!! Slash, the guitarist still rocks out with his current band. Slash and The Conspirators Check out another band- Shinedown. To me, they don't have any bad songs.
Shon, you have an awesome smile, don't hide it. I got to the end of your Reaction and I have to say,I've never laughed & smiled so much! New favorite Re-Actor😂❤
Love your reaction and how you quickly picked up on the subtle sounds in this sound. Now please check on their song Civil War, excellent song and so true for describing the time we live in today.
Are you saying 'synth', as in synthesizer? There are no synths in this song. Just guitar and bass guitars and drums. Funny you mention Axl reminding you of AC/DC. Axl briefly sang for AC/DC within the last couple of years.
My musical soul will always remain in the 1970's but I love GNR. Robert Plant will always be my favorite frontman & Axl Rose is a very close second. His charisma & confidence is somethin else❤❤
They still haven’t forgotten where they came from. They kept themselves grounded. That’s just one of the reasons they are one of the greatest bands of all time. Best part about them as well is that they actually lived the songs they performed. Maybe not every song but close enough 😂 I absolutely love GnR! Mad respect! ❤️Axl is my guy! ❤️ All the members are so talented! Total beast mode! 💯
I worked at Geffen Records at the time this band was just signed. All these guys lived in a couple of vans. They had nothing but talent and drive. Axl Rose was camped out in the reception area with his bicycle and a girlfriend until they recorded their first album and went straight to the top. Axl has a 5 octave vocal range. I LOVE this band. Great reaction
I love this video. When the couple make out early in the video, and when the bouncer jumps up on stage to calm some of the crowd, and then they show him standing there like come on try me. I freaking love it.
This was my first album! I BEGGED for it when I was 10, 1992. My Nana got it for me for Christmas with a Walkman😄They regretted it because I LIVED in those headphones for a solid 6 months!! I loved this reaction! Brought me back to where it all started😁❤
I love how the end of the song speeds up and just explodes with guitars, just brilliant! Watching the crowd go wild during that part was fantastic. Great reaction, Shon.
Shon DO DEEP PURPLE OR METALLICA WHO WAS THE 2ND BEST BAND On The PLANET , AFTER 🔫 GUNS, During The '88 To '93 Time Period, In Question!.. Do "Nothing Else Matters" O My Personal Fave, "The Unforgiven!".. 🤓 😎🎤🎸😁🎶🎵🎶 😉
August 6, 1988 several friends and I had lawn tickets for the Aerosmith show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (NY). GNR was the opening act and killed it. It was a let down when Aerosmith took the stage.
All I can say is... In the "Pit" for Faith No More followed by G&R followed by Tallica ... YEAH; I can only do that once in my lifetime; I wouldn't survive a second go 😂
Axl's voice was one of a kind at a time, and you loved it or you hated it, for me it was amazing and why I gravitated to the band like I did. And yeah, Brain Johnson of AC/DC has a similar bite to his voice as well, and probably why they had Axl fill in many years back when Brian had to take a break for medical reasons. Not only is this my favorite GnR tune, it's my favorite song period, and never fails to take me home.
I could (and do) listen to G&R largely just for what Slash is doing on guitar. This is a great example of how with enough skill you can play almost any note, and make it sound 'right'.
I was fortunate enough to see Guns N Roses right before they hit the big time. They opened for Motley Crue in 1987. You need to check out the video and song for It's So Easy! Another good one is Rocket Queen. Axl convinced his bandmate's gf to have sex with him and record it in the studio. It's in the song
I was the singer in a cover band back in the 2000's. We did this song and two things happened, it drove the crowd wild and beat the shit out of the band.
I have been binge watching your videos, and just love your reactions! I would love to see you check out some Skid Row, Sebastian Bach's vocals are pretty insane. Quicksand Jesus, Wasted Time, and In a Darkened Room are a great place to start. So fun to see someone discover great music I have loved for so long! Cheers!
Excellent song. The switching in the tempo keep you wanting more. You made the comparison to AC/DC, A few years ago, when Brian Johnson was unable to perform, they actually got Axl Rose to stand in on vocals.
New subscriber to your channel & I'm loving your perspective on a few songs you've reacted to. As a Gen-X'er who remembers GNR when they 1st came out, it's pretty awesome to hear/ see this thru your eyes with you being a Gen Z'er. If you haven't already you should check out these GNR songs: -Estranged (crazy vid) -My Michelle -Think about you -Civil war Side note: Civil war, although 30+ yrs old feels so lyrically relevant to what's going on today, really crazy! Your new fan Debbie D 😊

Nice
hilarious. loved it.
Huge Guns n' Roses fan at 63 now and still listening to them.❤
57 and still rocking to GNR
Welcome to the jungle is a must!!
Welcome to the jungle and sweet child of mine, are two big songs from them that you should listen.
My two favs.
Rocket Queen
These 2 are a must.
Their debut album is probably the best rock album ever. Every song is 10/10. They had success alter with November Rain and stuff like that, but the Apeitite for Destruction album was revolutionary
Nightrain and Rocket Queen are personal favorites
Gospel right there. To this DAY, Appetite is still my fave album ever. I swear that album changed my life!
I’ve e always said this too! Another one that is just a banger for a first album is godsmack first album.
Agreed on every point
Agree - it’s incredible, has that hunger. Served Duff and Ian? Beers in Dublin 1990. Later that night, stood at a urinal in a club, beside Slash, as he pissed all over his snakeskin boots. Didn’t see Axl.
AC/DC - Bon Scott and b in b have more better songs - but no album as good as appetite.
Same, if I had to choose, Nightrain and Rocket Queen too, my all time faves! Such a great album front to back
You need to do Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses
Yesssss!!!
Guns and Roses - "Used To Love Her"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love the next line 😄
we have all been in that song a few times
Hilarious 😂😂😂
"...and I can still hear her complain!"😝😝
The rest of the band: making a cohesive song
Slash: doing whatever Slash wants and it still makes sense.
Best time ever to have been raised!!!!
The synth youre referring to is Slash on guitar
Was just looking for this very comment.
@@colinmiles27 Same here. I was thinking, I don't think there's a synth in the song, but what do I know?
My Michelle, Mr Brownstone, Out to get me, get in the ring, Live and let die(cover), Knocking on heavens door (cover), etc, etc
@Shon - This Album (Appetite For Destruction) was what I call a "Press Play, and Walk Away" album. No skipping songs was needed. Every song was bad ass.

Bon Jovi doesn’t belong on the same sentence
basically I was referring to the instrument setup and well rounded sound. I was not comparing them. I’ve seen all of those I mentioned live except Lynard Skynard, and I have to admit they are all, including Bon Jovi, amazing LIVE. Which have you seen live?
Well said!🤘
Real talent making real music
Slash is bomb🎉
Considering how absolutely whacked out on various drugs Slash is when they recorded this, that guitar comment is a HUGE compliment. But, ya, Slash definitely "has" it. Over 15 years sober now.
This entire album is amazing and still rocks!!
Slash, the guitarist still rocks out with his current band. Slash and The Conspirators

You Could Be Mine - by Guns and Roses is another really great one.
Rockin’ that crowd!
Holy 💩
Look at the massive crowd 😍
Are you saying 'synth', as in synthesizer? There are no synths in this song. Just guitar and bass guitars and drums. Funny you mention Axl reminding you of AC/DC. Axl briefly sang for AC/DC within the last couple of years.
Their energy is off the chain!🎛🥁🎹🎸🎙🎶🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
My musical soul will always remain in the 1970's but I love GNR. Robert Plant will always be my favorite frontman & Axl Rose is a very close second. His charisma & confidence is somethin else❤❤
This song will make you get a speeding ticket! Great stuff. I was in Germany in the Army when this came out!! We all loved it!!
1980s era of hard rock/metal was the best
Yes! My favorite GNR song. I don't know how a person could not get pumped during that musical melee at the end. Amazing.
They still haven’t forgotten where they came from. They kept themselves grounded. That’s just one of the reasons they are one of the greatest bands of all time. Best part about them as well is that they actually lived the songs they performed. Maybe not every song but close enough 😂 I absolutely love GnR! I'm a child of the 80's.. this is my thing.. thank you.
I turned 21 in 1987. This song was a staple in the “SKRIP CLUB” 💃 💄 👠
One of the best rock bands of all time. Probably top 3 !
You know they eon a Grammy for Mr Brownstone? Definitely you should check that one out
GNR has been nominated four times and never won. I think you are confusing it with the R&B group Brownstone.
Axl is from the Midwest as well: Lafayette, Indiana.
Welcome to the jungle should be next. November rain is amazing as well❤
Just check out the entire Appetite For Destruction album for start to finish. You wont find a bad tune on it. 🤘
Favorite band ever. Happy to see your reaction to GNR. ❤️
I listen to the Appetite for Destruction album most mornings and I'm energised for the day.
Being 16 in '87 was amazing!!🤘🤘
check out Poison Nothing but a good time. Poison something to believe in. Ozzy Osbourne, Mama i'm comin home
Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle.
…And now, Shon understands headbanging a little better. 🔥
56 years old, and I still jam to this song.
I love this video. When the couple make out early in the video, and when the bouncer jumps up on stage to calm some of the crowd, and then they show him standing there like come on try me. I freaking love it.
Loved your reaction and how much you appreciate GNR! I think they are musical geniuses.
Shon, you are so great to watch and listen to. You are very perceptive and don’t miss anything. You are my favourite to watch, top tier you are!! ❤
This was my first album! I BEGGED for it when I was 10, 1992. My Nana got it for me for Christmas with a Walkman😄They regretted it because I LIVED in those headphones for a solid 6 months!! I loved this reaction! Brought me back to where it all started😁❤
It's funny that you mention AC/DC. Axl once filled in for Bryan Johnson for one of their tours.
Music is a bbridge that connects everybody
So many songs to react to. GnR Civil War is incredible. Definitely make sure to have the lyrics
Rocket Queen
I love how the end of the song speeds up and just explodes with guitars, just brilliant! Watching the crowd go wild during that part was fantastic. Great reaction, Shon.
Shon DO DEEP PURPLE OR METALLICA WHO WAS THE 2ND BEST BAND On The PLANET , AFTER 🔫 GUNS, During The '88 To '93 Time Period, In Question!.. Do "Nothing Else Matters" O My Personal Fave, "The Unforgiven!".. 🤓 😎🎤🎸😁🎶🎵🎶 😉
Axl had that awesome hair back then too
GUNS N F****** ROSES!!! Rock Gods!!!
Oh and Paradise City is where the grass is green and the girls are pretty
I luv your reactions lol keep doing what you do !!
This is a band that players are multi talented
I was 15 when this album(🔥)came out. Seriously, 80’s early 90’s music was the best. 🤘🏻 🤘🏻 rock on !!!
Axl Rose actually substituted for ACDC singer Brian Johnson for a portion of their tour a few years ago after Brian broke an eardrum.
Great reaction. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the eighties and see those guys. Hell of a video kick ass song!
Seen them live .amazing energy.x
I saw them in late 80s great choice this is music from my generation ❤ I'm glad you like it
This video is iconic !!! Keep it up Shon
Axl Rose is phenomenal!! So is Slash! Civil War Live should be truly listened to!! Greatest Music Ever!!
i love guns n roses fantastic band
The Long haired rock bands of the 80s....Man, you want so many different ways a guitar can produce fire. Slamming, slamming, jamming ...😊
Turned 21 in 1980.
LA city lifeguard
Lived 45 minutes from the sunset strip.
Thank God everyone wasn’t carrying a camera back then!!!!!
I love this song and the video is so much fun happy birthday Axl Rose you are awesome 😎
I used to air guitar to this song when it first came out when I was a kid!!! lol. This was the song that made me wanted to be a rock star!!! 😂😂😂
This is the second time I saw your reaction. Good job broow😎👍🏼
The beat as the drums bang, then the bass guitar goes on its own then slash goes off, it's like a symphony. ❤❤❤
Glad you reacted to this video. It's the best and my favorite of all of their songs. 🔥
August 6, 1988 several friends and I had lawn tickets for the Aerosmith show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (NY). GNR was the opening act and killed it. It was a let down when Aerosmith took the stage.
We are all waiting to see your reaction when the last 3rd kicks in... lol
All I can say is... In the "Pit" for Faith No More followed by G&R followed by Tallica ... YEAH; I can only do that once in my lifetime; I wouldn't survive a second go 😂
This was monsters of rock in Seacausa NJ in 1988 Gaines Stadium
Thanks for doing this, man. GNR is awesome 👊👊👊
Saw them only 1 time in concert.... awesome!! Soooooo long ago 😂😝
Every young guy in the 80s was looking for paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty !!
They were in the zone
3:00 Axl Rose sang for ACDC a few years ago
i remember when this song came out in uk, i heard it playing on a radio in a car, andi was like wow, went right out and bought the record,
This brought me joy 🤘👊
Axl's voice was one of a kind at a time, and you loved it or you hated it, for me it was amazing and why I gravitated to the band like I did. Their song Rocket Queen is so good!
knew you'd like this one. midwest band came to LA and conquered the scene. for a while at least.
They rocked the you know what out of it. Excellent reaction.
Welcome to The Jungle is the next song you've got to check out by them, rockin' track.
Takes me back. Shon, I had a blast with you rocking out. Great reaction.
Very good song.very nostalgic
I had just begun selling compact discs when this came out. It was a huge selller for a long time. Loved your take on it, Shon.
The whole album is classic..top 5 album of all time easily
Axl toured as AC/DC frontman when Brian’s voice went south. Not to shabby
Excellent song. The switching in the tempo keep you wanting more.
You made the comparison to AC/DC, A few years ago, when Brian Johnson was unable to perform, they actually got Axl Rose to stand in on vocals.
