I bought the Appetite cassette tape from them in front of the Whiskey in LA back in the day. They were selling their own merch on the street in front of the venue! I wore it it out, bought another, wore that out, bought the CD and tried to wear that out too. They close their shows with this in their last encore leaving everyone to go home with their hearts in their heads.I love this band.

I found this quote on wikipedia "during live Guns N' Roses shows, "Paradise City" is usually performed last, as an encore. This has been a tradition since at least 1988, up to their latest tour." Think about that - they play THIS song, 7 minutes of fast, hard rock at the END of their concerts! They were the best band of the time.

Apparently it's in black and white in memory of the two fans who died in a crowd surge during their set.

Appetite For Destruction is a painting by Robert Williams and it was the original cover art for the album, but due to its graphic nature, it was changed to what you see on Wikipedia. As most places wouldn't carry the album with the original art, so it was changed, but I have an OG record as well as a poster of the original painting.
Love your reactions salvo. The video is live footage from two shows in 1988 (damn that’s a long time ago). Giants Stadium (now MetLife) in Jersey and Donington Park, England. It’s the studio version of the song though. I was at the Jersey show. GNR was the opener for Deep Purple and Aerosmith.

Back when Electronic Arts (EA now) was making good video games, they released a smash hit racing game, "Burnout Paradise", where you race on the streets of a city. They called it 'Paradise City", after this song. Fittingly, GnR licensed "Paradise City" as the Opening and Closing music. Top-shelf kick-ass combination of gaming and music.
Interesting and sad little fact. You can see them playing Donington in the UK for the latter half of this video. You'll notice the "Dunlop" tyre over the racetrack in the background of the audience. It's in black and white because in 1988 when they played there they had a crowd crush incident which resulted in 2 kids dying at the front. This song was released in 1987, but I think the video came later, which is why the editor put all that imagery in black and white. If they didn't do that intentionally it's a poignant reminder all the same.
Idk NightTrain is very heavy as well. There are a few tracks on G&R Lies there second album that are hard as well. They were all totally screwed up on drugs for that album but it was still good. Mr Brownstone off of Appetite is a great drug song about there experiences with Brown Tar H**ine. But a damn good song…. I wonder why they were one of the first groups to have mothers and churches trying to get them banned lol
This is probably one of their best songs, if not the best. As for their hardest rock song, I would say that is subjective, and others would say Welcome To The Jungle, You Could Be Mine or You're Crazy could be harder songs. The issue with You're Crazy along with a few other of their songs is that is contains profanities / swear words, so it could be censored if reviewed. The other two could be worth a listen to see what you think.
