The little pointer on dial has a dot at one end, should the dot be pointing where you want on the dial or is the dot the bottom of the arrow so to speak?
Hello Terry The little dot is usually the 'point' of the arrow if that makes sense? You want the little dot to align with what setting you require on the dial Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
LE Lighting (Customer Support) have just told me 1000 Lux (half way) is fine for my light to be activated at dusk. However, I've read elsewhere it's 300-500 lux is the approx lux level for dawn/dusk.
Glad the information was useful! If there is anything else electrical you need help with please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try my best to help Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
Hello thank you for your kind words. Yes this is certainly possible, you are best using a "standalone PIR" (one which is not part of a light fitting), that way you can have the sensor set up and it will drive a number of lights (definitely 3) Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
I still have problems understanding how to set "Sensitivity". Is it by distance, or amount of movement in View ? - I have a few shrubs in line of sight, and was hoping that reducing the sensitivity, would avoid the PIR flickering the light on when the wind blows. But if it is just a distance threshold, it has little to now effect on reducing the flicker due to winds.
Hi Can u manually turn it on at the switch or do they just work when it gets a bit dark. Mine has philips screws to turn instead of knobs and mine has stopped working although I have just changed the bulb unit.Maybe it isnt supposed to work in daylight Im not sure . Thanks for the video

I've one of these lights. But it is coming on when it's daytime. If you walk past it during the day or night, it turns on. What can I adjust here for our to work only at night
Hello Stephanie. If your lamp is staying on constantly then it's best to try turning the power off to it, leaving it for at least a minute (as some PIR lights have an override caused by switching on/off quickly) and then turning it back on. Most lights will come on as a 'self test' once you turn them on, they should then turn back off after a short time, depending on how long the sensor is set for. Hope that helps? Just moved into a new property. I’ve turned all 3 settings down to the lowest. But the light won’t turn off. How do I replace the sensor - which I think is faulty?
Can this type of light be set to come on automatically at dusk till dawn? Just bought a ledvance with the same dials as this but wondering if I've bought the wrong type.
Sorry Sonny, I've only just seen this comment for some reason!?! Generally speaking no, PIR lights come on with movement, the sort of sensor you are after is a "photocell" which just enables it to come on at dusk and go back off at dawn. Ledvance are good quality lights, however the ones I've fitted have been PIR only. From memory they did do a photocell in a larger wattage (70w I think) Alternatively you could get a "plain" Ledvance light and fit a standalone photocell above it. We've just fitted 2 on a pole and used a photocell to switch them in this way Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
You could turn up the time and sensitivity to the maximum (fully clockwise) with the Luk turned all the way down. That would effectively keep the light on all night and off during the daytime.
Clear instructions great vid. Shit ‘electrician’ that fitted mine had to change it out with a new light 3 times due it going off all the time. He must’ve had the sensitivity high on it every time
Conclusion: LUX - Sensitivity to light (Time of day it will come on) TIME - 2 seconds to 5 minutes (on my version, it will vary) SENSI - Distance (objects, cars, people etc from the sensor)
Lux not time of day it will come on lux is how dark the availability of light source I have them in my sheds and garage it doesn't have a built in clock 😆😆😆😆🔨🔨
Hello Aaron, thank you for the comment about our video! I'm glad it was useful for you - please subscribe to our channel, there may be some more videos of electrics which may be of use to you Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
Hi Baz thanks for posting the question! Usually this is due to the "LUX" setting being too low, allowing the light to work during daylight. The first thing to check would be that the LUX setting is turned upwards (generally these have a picture of the sun & moon at either end respectively, aim for the moon!). If this is already turned towards the higher setting then it could be a case of a faulty PIR on the product itself. If an electrician installed this I would be tempted to call them back to check it is working OK, we often tell our customers to make sure the settings are correct the evening after we install the light and would have no problems calling back if something like this was happening. Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
Hi everyone. My sesnsor light started to go on and off. It turns off for about 5 seconds and back on and so on. I plyed with it but stil nothing. It doesn't want yo stay off. Any suggestions please? Thank you in advance
If the lens of the sensor has got damaged then if you are replacing it, the cover must fit exactly into the same housing to ensure the IP rating of the sensor housing. Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
Hello Bill, thanks for asking the question. You cannot just wire it straight into the back of a socket as the cable on the light is not rated high enough for direct connection to a socket circuit like that. If you were to connect to a socket, you would need to put a plug on the end of the cable such that there is a fuse between the socket circuit and the light itself. You would then need to change this fuse in the plug to either 3A or 5A. To be fair this is a bit of a rough way of installing it, you really need connection to either a fused spur or else a lighting circuit of the correct rating Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
These units can stop working properly if there's a power outage. You can reset them. It says to switch to off for 15 seconds and then switch back to on. I'm guessing they mean switch the time setting to lowest setting and then back on as I don't think there is an on/off switch on this ovia unit!?? Can anyone confirm this???
Hello Mr Manning - many apologies for the delay on replying to this one, we did not receive a notification for some reason? I hope you have managed to sort the gremlins out with your PIR light by now! Although it's really difficult to diagnose things without having them in front of you, although if it totally refuses to turn off it does sound like a faulty PIR sensor/light. Is the 'TIME' setting fixed on this particular light?
@@davidmanning5874 No worries Mr Manning, again, sorry it took so long to reply! Unfortunately trees and foliage can sometimes set PIR sensors off causing a nuisance. Hello Mr Hayes, I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your light. From what you have described, it does sound as though the sensor is faulty, it should only come on when really quite dark when the setting is turned fully to the 'moon' icon. I assume you bought it from Screwfix? They are usually very good with regards returns and swapping faulty items so I would suggest you swap it if at all possible Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors
Thanks for your comment. Is your PIR light particularly old? If so then potentially it could be the PIR sensor that has failed and the light could need replacing.
@@Hulkmania1502 - it does sound as though the PIR sensor itself is faulty. If you are happy manually turning the lights on and off then that should be OK but if you want the PIR to function properly I recommend getting a local electrician to have a quick look over it.
Some people prefer the light to come on at dusk when there is still a small amount of natural light. Setting the lux level to the max setting means the light will only come on when it is pitch black. It's all down to personal preference of the end user.
