    Drew, what about LED floodlight bulbs installed in a motion/daylight sensor security light fixture which have been flashing on and off repeatedly during the night with an annoying clicking sound. I thought it might be interior lights through the bedroom windows, triggering them, but even then, they should just go off, as if it was daylight. I haven't tried the switch method yet, as this isn't a symptom you listed; I heard one suggestion to replace the.LED bulbs first, before replacing the fixture, but they are $15 to 30 each! I recycled the older bulbs, unfortunately, or I could try regular incandescent to see if that keeps happening. Fixture and installation is 2-3 years old.

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  3 года назад

      Hi Emily, ive used those permanent installed led motion. Sensor lights they are horrible. They click on and off when there's wind or a short in the sensor. Id first look at the possibility its stuck in teat mode. If the switch isn't in test mode its possible the light is broken. Those lights are horrible. I suggest replacing the. With normal flood sensor lights like in my video and using a screw in ked bulb only 13 watts per bulb = 12p watts

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  3 года назад

      Also some LED BULBS ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH SENSOR LIGHTS. So if you using a screw in ked you'll have to switch back to a compact florescent

    You know i have one of these lights in the house outside,and for years i got it setup where i turn it on at night and it stays on however when i do that it comes on for a second,turns of and then it comes back on all night and it stays on(which is what i want)i wonder how that happens?
    I love it like that, well over the years the light has taken a beating from the wind,its missing a few parts like the little round nuts that hold the top, a couple of glass panels have broken etc so i went to the store and like a idiot instead of buying a regular light i found the same exact light i had so i bought another one just like it, of course its slightly more modern but it has the same switches under for the sensor controls etc, identical to the old one but i have a bad feeling its not gonna work like my old one, see i never have to turn it on and off like you do in the video,one flick on the switch one time from off its enough and it stays on all night.
    Wont putting a strip of black tape on the sensor keep the light on all night? i just want it to work like a regular light,i turn it on around 7 and i turn it off in the morning before i got o work,i know i know," you shoulda bought a regular light" but i figured it would work like my old one,lol,mind you i just installed it today so we will see.

      The wind and trees blowing cam activate it. You can turn the dial for .sensitivity and range. The dial is on the light itself. I never understood motion lights and how they worked. When I lived with my parents and they had a couple put in on the front door it was ALWAYS super annoying. Using the lightswitch to turn on/off the MOTION sensor is the dumbest way to design these things. I always felt like the lights should be turned ON permanently by the light switch being on, and have the motion sensor active when the light switch is OFF.

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  2 года назад

      Only solution to that would be to have an actual motion switch on the light itself otherwise when there's a windy storm or cat walks in your yard the light will turn on all the time separate switch on the panel would also be nice for some reason this is the standard thanks for watching and commenting please subscribe

      @@drewsquickfix Thanks for the reply pal. Yes, and in reality, I've figured out that if these things don't ever work, try to find a DIY remedy, and if that unsuccessfully, just tossed it out. Not worth returning coz it may actually cost you a lot more! I was in a charity shop recently and they had many boxes of some even unused motion sensor sockets (And not one-time used, fixed LEDs) for $ 3-4 each!
      On the other note, If you have an old house that was maintained and is still functional, be very proud of it and enjoy it. It is really surprising to me that my families/friends who moved into brand-new constructions how frequently in a few years of residency have seen disasters, I could only see in a nightmare! Ole is Gold or something like that!
