- On the 6th of July 2022 Steve Davis and Gaz Williams had their first public performance in The Hare and Hounds Birmingham as part of John Biddulph's Modular Music Machinations.
The set lasted 45 minutes and was a pure improvisation carried out on two Eurorack modular synthesiser rigs. Everything played was generated fresh and in the moment with no reliance on anything pre determined other than a loose arrangements regarding tempos. Gaz sent a master clock to Steve and that was the only linking element to make sure everything stayed in time. Видеоклипы
And yet more brilliance! Thanks for sharing Gaz!
Always a pleasure to see and hear Steve that I discovered on satellite TV in the late 80s around a snooker table then had the honour to meet in person at several Magma and/or Christian Vander gigs "some time" later. Thanks Gaz and Steve for this nice ambient masterful duet impro.
Ah, wonderful... ♥
Great sounds and textures, again! Love thee trippy soundscapes and weird rhythms! This is a great lesson!
Loved this, gentlemen. It grew organically.
Intelligent choices and very musical. Thank you so much for posting. Will be watching again.

Nicely done gentlemen. Sounds amazing.
Pure tonal & textural beauty !

Would love a rig run down, hopefully you guy's could dedicate a show to talking us through what you used on this live set 🙏
👏👏more, more 👏👏 yeah, wooh, woop, woop 👏👏encore, encore!
This is awesome 👍 Can we have a Steve Davis interview/rig rundown sometime please? I’d love to hear you guys talk about the set up/performance.
Nice Stuff, Compadres! Cheers From México City!
Great drums!
Nice one Gaz! ☺️
yeah gaz
Some interesting related lesser known infos :
Steve prefers to use noise modules that can output yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, and black types of noise. For impact, he likes to insert breaks at a maximum of 147bpm. In this clip, we can see that Steve is using his portable module setup. His full-size home studio modular case measures 12 ft × 6 ft (365.8 cm × 182.9 cm) - which obviously makes it impractical for gigs like this one.
Cue the music : )
What’s next? Gaz and David Cameron live from the shepherds hut?
5:50 👌👌👌👌
Hold up. Is that actually the Magma loving snooker legend Steve Davis? It looks like him
😎🖖 Anyone going to Synthfest? It's back again this October 😃
Yes!
should have watched this sooner!
Top banana fellas.
I play with myself
Does Steve like this ? 🤔 or enjoy it ? Gaz does , moving and proper getting stuck in ! Steve doesn't move ??
It’s like a bonkers thing. I am whizzing around whilst Steve is evolving and calm. Our personalities I suppose.
Does anybody seriously like this?
C'mon play the game, we're living in the modern age!
@@Culture_of_Ghosts I love Gaz and I have a few synths, but I have never really been lifted by the sound of modular gear in performance - and i've listened to loads of stuff....it just doesn't seem to resonate with me.
Yes.
@@ichiban8558 I never used to at first, thought it was a load of guff, but I have to admit that it is really growing on me now!
@@ichiban8558 Each to their own, I suppose.
I'll be pleased to be corrected but isn't Steve doing the absolute bear minimum in this video ? Lol I could do his job basically is what I'm saying. Just like he would destroy me at snooker. I'd love to try what he's doing. I'm not hating on him btw. Fair fucking play to him for finding a niche .
