A timeless piece for daily wear. Wear it with anything from hoodie or suite.
Exactly. 👌
Great looking acquisition Rich! Love the size and design. Thanks for sharing!
We’re on the same page, Lawrence. And thanks. 🤙
Gorgeous. I was considering the Breitling Avenger. Still undecided but I love IWC. The only issue I have with the Spitfire is the faux patina on the hands but I also love the pop of red. It’s those details that matter to me. Thanks for sharing Rich. 👍
Have fun making your decision, Tom. It’s a fun stage. 🤙
Great to hear the MicroLux shows are doing well. Wish I could attend one, but not likely. That is a great looking watch! I like the 39mm size and thickness ... works for my 7.5" wrist. I have a weak spot for the aviator style watches. Cheers!
Aviator watches just has an instant coolness about it. Thanks, James.
Love this pick up. IWC makes amazing watches Way better choice than the mark 18. I was curious about the leather strap because others have said they don’t like it and prefer the nato. Congrats.
I really like the Santoni quality of the leather. Thanks, Stephen.
I like IWC watches. I especially like the Big Pilot.
That makes both of us, Greg! 🤙
@@whatsonthewrist, right on!
Looks really good, man! 👍
I remember seeing one in 36-38mm around 2005-6ish, but I opted for an Omega!
Congrats on your Omega, iDid. It’s almost the weekend to enjoy. 👍
@@whatsonthewrist Oh no...that was a long time ago, bro, lol!
@@idid1866 Hopefully you still have it from ‘05 ish.
@@whatsonthewrist No I sold that 41.mm AT to a local buyer! It was my last piece from my collection of mechanicals!
@@idid1866 Oh I don’t think I knew you’re exclusively quartz or manual.
Thanks for making this video. It helps folks like me still on the fence. Now that you’ve had the Spitfire for a while what do you think of the lug to lug and how it wears on your wrist? Any other issue that stands out now that you’ve been using this?
Hi, Dean C. I am still loving it without any remorse. I like the colors and that 72 hours of power reserve. And of course the Santoni leather strap continues to age well and is very comfortable.
Dan, I had two Mark18s by now. Always loved them and sold them after a while to go f9r the next cool thing. Reality is, despite my two Rolexes, my Speedmaster and a Panerai, I miss the IWC more than any other watch. Why? Because it is the most comfortable watch I ever owned. The movement was smooth and very accurate, no issues at all, perfectly calibrated. The Mark is perfect for every day wear, not obnoxious at any point yet highly sophisticated. Bottom line: the perfect (next to the explorer) and best GADA watch out there. I will certainly buy a MarkXX as soon as possible
Congratulations Richie
I didn't know they made 39mm great looking watch 👍
I’m happy with it. Thank you, JJ. 🙏
Beautiful timepiece. Congrats!
Thanks, Lon. 🤙
IWC is an awesome brand that doesn't get the luv it deserves.
Definitely a great brand, Peter. 👌
Perfect watch. I would buy one soon.
@Rafal Wasilewski. I’ve really been enjoying it. That long power reserve is nice to have. Let me know when you get yours.
@@whatsonthewrist I wanted to get OMEGA for a long time, but since I discovered IWC watches and fall in love with it. The Spitfire it’s simply beautiful watch. I will definitely get one soon. Thank you.
Iwc has been getting a lot of due attention lately. Do all there watches use a in house movement
Hi, Phillip. No not all of their watches have their in-house movement. For example the Mark XVIII uses a Sellita base movement.
Beautiful piece. The RUclips community is wrong when they downplay IWC.
Hi, Shane. IWC definitely is worthy. 👌
Iwc is the best watch brand imo, I have a mark 18 and love it. I just don't get why people are obsessed with in house, a £50 seiko has an in house movement that's shit. My iwc is within cosc tolerances. The spitfire is a great watch, I liked the mark 18 more because of the classic looks.
Hi, Coffee BOY CLIPS. Congrats on your Mark XVIII. I was going back and forth between the Spitfire and Mark XVIII. I was leaning towards the white dial.
@@whatsonthewrist thanks, I got the black dial mk18 but was very close to buying the blue, I've seen the white dial recently and it's stunning. I wish I could have all 3 lol.
Yes, I know what you mean about wanting all the colors. That’s be nice for sure. I like your black dial. 👌
I was also in the market for a pilots watch and was looking at both, but decided on neither of them. IWC is a lot lot Grand Seiko for me, I want to love them but something always holds me back when it comes to actually buying one. At this price point I honestly cannot get excited about either of these pilot watches.
Imo Iwc make the best pilots watches, since I've had my mark 18 I've not worn any of my other watches, suppose they are not for everyone.
Hi, Tom. Good luck as you continue your search for your ideal pilots watch.
@Coffee Boy Clips. I won’t argue with you.
@@coffeeboyclips1973 Don't get me wrong, I think they are fantastic timepieces and the craftsmanship and movements are exceptional. But I have a fairly large wrist (7 1/2") and they are just a bit small for me. You also need to special order a strap because the standard length will not accommodate my wrist. the Big Pilot solves some of those issues, but I found it a bit too, well... big. I very much admire the brand and hope one day to find one that works for me.
@@tomscott4438 did you try the new big pilot 43mm?
What do you think of the new Tudor GMT Pro?
Hi, Shimra. I like the dimensions, even the thicknesses. If I recall it’s a little under 15mm thick. I also like it doesn’t use an aluminum bezel insert and the rose on the crown. It’s a nice everyday wear. There are some nice choices in this price range though.
What do you think about the new Mark XX vs the the new 41mm IWC Chrono?
Hi, Dennis. I like the Mark XX. It’s subtle dial changes are cleaner. But they’re very different not so much in size 40 vs 41 but the chrono is not apples to apples. I like the black Mark XX and the green Chrono. 120 hours of power reserve is also nice.
@@whatsonthewrist if you had to choose between the two, which one would you go for? (Assuming you didn’t have the Mark XVIII)
@@DennisC_X I have the Spitfire not the Mark 18. If I didn’t have my Spitfire I would probably opt for the 41 Chrono. It has nice dimensions for a Chrono for me.
Very nice entry level watch
Thanks man.
All the handling and turning the watch over back and forth....yet it didn't start running?🤔
I don’t recall, K Mack. But it wasn’t wound ahead of time.
I went with a mark xv
36 mm? Congrats and enjoy, Austin.
Spitfire is definitely better choice..congrats
Thanks man.
I would have it on a Nato strap in about two seconds.
Their leather nato is definitely nice, Kris A.
I tried it on - just so a tiny little flat watch...nothing for real man's wrists
Perhaps their Big Pilots in 46 is more to your liking, Rob.
@@whatsonthewrist I wish they would make a 41mm or 42mm model. Even the 40mm Mark XVIII is very small and flat...
They have a big pilots in 43.
Spitfire is definitely better choice..congrats
