    I love the coating on the glass on the spitfire. It makes the dial look so different in low light. It almost looks blue vs the green.

      @TOKKANTE  Год назад

      That's the AR coating that IWC uses, it makes the reflection look blue.

    This might be of your interest if you’re searching for a dive watch. I’ve seen someone on Facebook group bought that a new IWC aqua timer from Seoul Boutique with 120 hours pr, safe dive system and quick change strap.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад +1

      The Aqua Timer is a cool looking piece and they can be had for a great price pre-owned. I wouldn't mind owning one given the opportunity and a great deal, but it's not my first choice for a diver though given the brand history.

    Get the FXD Ben. I love mine and it’s a strap monster - especially on the special Erika parachute straps.

      I am reading that 30+ page thread n WatchUSeek about the FXD and its many many strap options. It's now haunting my mind! FXD is now on #1 spot, surpassing the BB Pro.

    Nice review. I have the BB58 bronze and the patina is very even, it is similar to your IWC.

      Oh good, yeah it depends on so many factors like weather, humidity, your skin, your sweat etc. I guess we're made for bronze watches!

    Hi Ben, thank you for another excellent video. I can understand your enthusiasm for the IWC, it looks amazing and is really legible. I have a BB58 which I really like but I have no experience of IWC. I also think that the FXD is good. It's a unique product manufactured to an external specification which it satisfies perfectly. I think you'd regret letting the IWC go if you sell it... it really is very good. 😀

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I'm happy with it, I was just thinking of switching it to the SS version if I ever get tired of the bronze but the watch overall is a keeper. The FXD is like haunting my mind recently, lol! I see prices coming down, even at grey dealers (almost retail).

    How do you take care of the spitfire bronze? Do we need to constantly polish? Can we wash it with the leather strap?

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  Год назад +1

      I am letting the patina develop for now, and I will consider cleaning it maybe after 1 year. But I guess part of the fun of owning a bronze watch is to see how the patina develop, so I'm waiting as long as I can accept it. You shouldn't POLISH it though: there are different ways of cleaning bronze patina (lemon juice, denture tablets, etc) although IWC told me not to do that and just take it to them and they'll do it (although they didn't say "for free" so I guess they'd be happy to charge me for that). Don't put it under water with the leather strap either, remove it first.

    Don't get fooled by the 39mm diameter of the spitfire, that 50mm lug to lug makes it difficult to wear below 6.5inch wrists :/

  • @jameshoward9700
    @jameshoward9700 2 года назад +1

    Nice comparison! IWC do do a good strap! More people should try leather - never feels as good in the shop (especially thick ones like IWC's), but once worn in, so comfy! Size is the other thing - 39mm wears well, but is still a big watch. I've had my eyes opened by 36mm recently - a total revelation! Once you acclimatise, everything else just feels bloated! What about a Mark XVIII in 36mm, on the excellent bracelet (with spare strap!)? They can be had for a bargain. I refused to buy on account of the JU52 on the back... but it is a nice piece.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      You're right about the strap, I'm SO NOT a strap guy and I have to admit that it's so comfortable! I'm a little hesitant to go down to 36mm but it depends on the piece I guess. When I tried on the 36mm Explorer it felt tiny, like a grandpa's watch! After a while though I assume/hope that I would get used to it?!... In time!

    I have both the BB58 and FXD and I love both however they wear completely different. BB58 I have on a strap and often on a NATO (did not do the bracelet as I only wear my rolexes on a bracelet). I love straps and Natos for the BB58 as I do not feel it. As for the FXD, which I am wearing on a Bark &Jack Nato it's my max size for my wrist. It is a tool watch great bezel great lume (OMG the lume is amazing) I love the blue and I seem to have it as a go-to weekend day watch. SUPER Lite and comfortable but just wears large.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Yes, exactly what I'm considering the FXD for... a super light comfy very casual weekend watch. No need to worry about setting the date or scratching the (non existent) bracelet. Just need to try one on for size and fit.
