  • Longines Spirit Zulu Time Titanium 39mm Review and Comparison with Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT!
Please email sales@caratco.com if you're interested to purchase Longines!
The LONGINES SPIRIT ZULU TIME embodies the brand's century-old expertise in multiple time-zone watches. Introduced to the collection last year, the 39 mm model is now supplemented by a new version in Grade 5 titanium, an alloy that is extremely robust yet lightweight. This authentic tool-watch offers cutting-edge precision thanks to its exclusive Longines GMT calibre certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).
This year, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time is going titanium. Introduced to the Longines Spirit collection in 2022, the line owes its name to the first Longines dual time-zone wristwatch produced in 1925, which featured the Zulu flag on its dial - Zulu referring to the letter Z, which designates the universal time used by aviators and sailors.
The model is powered by the exclusive Longines GMT calibre L844.4, equipped with a silicon balance-spring and innovative components, offering a resistance to magnetic fields ten times greater than the ISO 764 reference standard. This extremely precise self-winding mechanical movement has a power reserve of up to 72 hours. It is officially certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).
The new Longines Spirit Zulu Time is where watchmaking tradition meets innovation. Its case made of Grade 5 titanium - an alloy that is both lighter and more robust than steel - is 39 mm in diameter and 13.50 mm thick, for optimal wearer comfort. The bi-directional ceramic bezel with 24-hour scale is divided into two shades, matt black and intense polished black, to indicate the hours of the day and night respectively. The anthracite dial features a date aperture at 6 o'clock, Super‑LumiNova®-coated applied Arabic numerals, and gold-plated hands. The matt black GMT hand has a red tip with a luminescent arrow, in the same colour as the “Zulu Time” inscription on the dial.
Water-resistant up to 10 bar (100 metres), the watch comes on an interchangeable bracelet, also in Grade 5 titanium, with a double-security folding clasp and pusher-operated opening mechanism.

So the bezel is full ceramic with “bi-finish ceramic insert in matt black and intense polished black” not half ceramic half titanium - sorry for the mistake!

@@MinuteMon thank you for the review and this clarification - you got me worried for a few hours 🤣
Excellent release! It has few advantages over the tudor black bay 58 gmt:
      - titanium grade 5
      - quick release bracelet
      - smaller links with enough micro adjust positions that makes it possible to fit to any wrist size
      - ceramic bezel insert
      - the bezel is done on such a way that it can be used for measuring elapsed minutes or hours due to the lumed triangle and the fact that it can be steadily positioned between the 24 clicks
      - I think the pilot esthetic fits a gmt better
      - looks a bit dressier so a better balance between dress and sports

      @wristopia4101 21 день назад

Why did you think it was titanium? I have never heard that before so find it very odd you would just make it up rather than assume its a combination of polished and matt ceramic.

@@Vess_Iossifov you have just justified my purchase of this piece. Also, I personally feel that the BB58’s design is too common and lacks any real effort. Feels like the brand is doing the heavy lifting rather than the watch itself

    • @Vess_Iossifov

@@idevwatpo congratulations! Wish you enjoy it!
I personally already thought that the Zulu time 39mm is one of the best watches on the market keeping in mind all factors. Now this titanium model the way it is done I think it is a perfect watch - the design, colors, materials, functionality, quality and price - I really think it is as close to perfect as I can see. It is a very rare thing!
And I agree - it is an original and amazing look from a brand with matching piloting pedigree. In comparison black bay 58 gmt is very unoriginal - yes, it uses the designs of sister company rolex so all is good, but longines went further and actually created an excellent new and fresh design! The only advantage I see is the master chronometer certification but it seems to me the L844 cosc-certified caliber of the Zulu time is good enough!
So again - excellent choice and enjoy it 🙂

My biggest gripe with the zulu time is the rediculously long endlink-to-endlink, which I believe is around 53(!!!)mm. Even though the end links angle down, this watch does not wear well on my 6,5' wrist. If you wear it on a strap, the dimensions are appropriate for a 39mm case. I'd rather not have a quick-release system in the bracelet for a better fit over the quick-release functionality that comes with male end links. What is the point of reducing the case size if the bracelet ruins the fit?

The Zulu time from Longines presents some of the best value in the entire industry. I’ve owned it…the detail, movement/travelers gmt functionality, ceramic bezel, etc. make it amazing. There’s one major problem imo left out of most reviews… The male end links are a problem. They protrude far beyond its case size and give the appearance of the watch overhanging on wrists despite in being within your typical case proportions. I highly recommend trying on in-person before purchasing for this reason.

urgh, cant believe every watch reviewer is not mentioning this. When i tried on zulu, the biggest flaw i noticed is that is has a very straight case back, so it makes the watch wear really "long". I'm genuinely impressed with how close MAMACOO were able to replicate every aspect of this very very goofy looking classic watch.

So Basic...Longines Screwed the Few of US that Bought the Limited Edition HODINKEE Model that's Also in Titanium. Oh well, it is what it is. Note: it's my fault no matter what. I Bought my HODINKEE one not 6 months after buying the 39mm Green Bezel Zulu. But I prefer the Titanium one although the Bezel Sucks.

I like Longines, however, no brand will be able to move very high up the scale when they have models that have gold plating.

Really poor case dimension... stop pushing low grade watches to make money.

It looks chunky and not fashionable at all. From a practical standpoint it checks many boxes. So heart says no, brain says not bad. Pass 😢

Longines does not really have the rep to charge what it does now, always better to buy used as there’s much more value

Lug to lug is too long… as usual for Longines watch……
Reduce in the diameter of the lug to lug definitely make it a perfect watch
