Lanturn Solo - Pokemon Crystal
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 июл 2022
- Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle (except held items)*
3. No glitches or exploits
4. No Double-Team TM before level 100
Other rules:
-- *Pokeballs are allowed in battle
-- I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
-- My Pokemon has near perfect DVs
-- I manipulate my Pokemon's DVs to choose the typing of Hiddenpower
-- The bike is allowed
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter
*Double-Team:
-- Almost every Pokemon can learn Double-Team through TM
-- The TM can be purchased in Celadon
-- Using it would centralize the meta
-- Every Pokemon would use it to overcome tough battles at lower levels
-- It raises evasion
-- Banning the TM allows Pokemon who learn it through level up to use it
-- I believe evasion is part of Pokemon and shouldn't be banned entirely
-- I don't want the videos to all be double-team spam though, that's not fun or entertaining
Crystal Version changes from Gold/Silver:
-- The Rival in Burned Tower is mandatory - he must be completed before Morty
-- In the overworld, many trainers are repositioned
Terms:
-- STAB
-- Same-Type-Attack-Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier
-- Stat Experience
-- The Gen1&2 equivalent of effort values. You can invest in all stats until they max
out at 65535
-- DVs or Determinate Values
-- The Gen1&2 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
Resources:
-- Gen 2 Stat Calculator: pycosites.com/pkmn/stat_gen2.php
-- Trainer IVs (DVs): bit.ly/3tDU0Bx
-- All Trainer Pokemon have EVs of 0 (stat experience)
-- Gen 2 Crits occur 6.25% of the time

Special attackers are always going to be difficult for the Red-fight. Snorlax ist just way too bulky on the Special side. Unless you have INSANELY high special attack, that fight is always a slog with Special attacks.
the fact that it takes a sun-boosted Moltres holding a charcoal using Fire Blast to 2HKO a Snorlax (assuming both have max stats) really speaks about the absurd level of bulk Lax has on the special side
@@davidjimenez3822 well assuming Max stats, is this Moltres level 100? Or are you referring to Scott's Moltres video?
@@Medabee8 Scott doesn’t have a Moltres video.
I believe we assume both are Level 100 in this scenario.
The gen 2 AI always switches pokemon on the last turn of Perish Song, though I don't know if Whitney's coded to occasionally switch in other circumstances.
I do know that in vanilla speedruns, Whitney's Clefairy is more of a run-killer than her Miltank. Miltank can be planned around, but Metronome is by definition unpredictable.
Yeah, she probably switched out to avoid the KO from PS
Yeah, the AI will always switch out if possible if it the last turn of Perish Song.
I really like the Chinchou/Lanturn line. I use it a lot in HG/SS on my team. In fact, it might sound silly, but I even made a little story for it- since you can catch them in the water in New Bark Town, I imagine my player always grew up watching their little lights dancing about at night under the water. Professor Elm explains they're pokemon called Chinchou and the player is fascinated, vowing to some day catch one. So when you finally get a rod that can catch one, the player immediately catches one from that water to add to the team due to the good childhood memories.
That is so sweet. I like this story.
Ooh, I love Lanturn! It's a bummer that this is Crystal, so you can't get Volt Absorb, but this should still be an easy, fun run.
Volt Absorb would be awesome!
My favorite pokemon is lantern my best friends in chinchou we were definitely meant to be besties lol
I like both the abilities ngl,
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Any thoughts (pun intended) on Mystic water + rain boosted surf vs thunder? I don't know the exact calculations but isn't surf stronger in that case? Is it because thunder bypasses accuracy on Koga's evasion boosters?
What does Volt Absorb do?
Gen II had so many unique and fascinating designs. Lanturn is such a cool looking Pokemon.
Awesome video man. It’s cool seeing a Pokémon no one ever uses like Lanturn. The little jokes in your videos always crack me up. Replacing Kingdra with Kingler was so funny I backed up and watched it again. 😂
I came here to make the same comment about the Kingler edit
This thing might be a slog early on it gets bubble, thunder wave and supersonic but slow level up and doesn't evolve into lanturn until 27. So, if he gets stuck, he will be very stuck maybe waiting until 24 to get an electric move. Flail looks like it can brute force a few things.
I’ve always loved opposing type Pokemon like Lanturn. Back in the Neo TCG block Lanturn was one of the few lines that really embraced its dual typing, either being able to change between Water and Electric or growing more powerful for Water Energy depending on the card.
Water is rarely a bad type, so I predict this fishy will do pretty well today.
Yeah, I love opposing type combos too!
The outtakes made me wonder when we'll get Espeon vs. Umbreon. Who's stronger, a sweeper without coverage moves or a tank without reliable damaging options?
Espy just has an unfortunate amount of grinding to do to get Psybeam. Confusion is great in the early game, and Psybeam is great in the mid game. But level 36 is a bit past the mid game.
Espeon's coverage isn't so bad in gen-2. Shadowball might still be physical, but with maxed attack because no EV limits, a fully trained Espeon can still hit reasonably hard, especially when the primary targets it would be using that attack on, other psychic-types, tend to have lower physical defense. Round that out with the right hidden power and Espeon can sweep through just about any NPC.
Umbreon, however, despite being my favorite, really just doesn't have anything going for it outside of stall. It can stomp opposing psychic-types and ghost-types easily enough, but other than that everything else will be slow going, and fighting-types are doubly challenging.
@@EmeralBookwise But in order to max out your EV's (or Stat Exp, as it's called in Gen 1/2) you have to go around and battle a bunch of Pokémon. So that's not convenient time wise, perhaps a perfect or near perfect Attack DV could do reasonable damage.
Steelix is a drag even with Psybeam, you really would need Psychic or a super effective hidden power to break it. Then comes 2 Umbreon, Forretress (should have Psychic by that point), Snorlax, feel like I'm forgetting another important possible obstacle.
Edit: houndoom was the one I was trying to remember
@@tylerd1297: Fair point. I don't usually factor in training time because it's never been my style rush through the game as fast as possible.
I still stand by the overall assertion that in any kind of completion between Espeon and Umbreon, the outcome won't even be close.
As much as I adore Umbreon, it's not built for this kind of run. Espeon would be much faster.
the curse strat is probably going to be optimal for a lot of pokemon's fights versus red.
in speedruns, even with legendary pokemon (like crystal rng manip) the way to get past red is with x-items but because you can't use x-items bc of your rules. the *only* special attack boosting move in gen 2 is growth so i'd look out for it if a pokemon has it in it's learnset
Curse seems to be mandatory underleveled solely because of Snorlax. As a result, it seems special attackers are put at a disadvantage.
Lantern is great, but he needs his ability. Gen 2 doesn’t do it justice.
So, an idea for crystal, Scyther vs Scizor? They have the same base stats after all
A Tyranitar Run and Houndour/Houndoom run would be cool to do.
Its a shame many dark types are post game only in the Johto games.
Murkrow as well and Sneasel is available before the post game in Ice Path.
Remembering my own run a while back, Houndoom absolutely surprised me - it's a beast
I think an Espeon vs Umbreon run would be cool to see as well in pokemon crystal. I think these 2 are among the most popular eevelutions so it would be fun to see which one has a better performance in their origin region.
@@evawhite1144 Heck yeah! Umbreon's my favorite but I'd assume Espeon does better, they're both pretty good in Gen2 but Umbreon is more of a defensive beast so it might have a rougher time.
@@Yuzuki1337 It honestly depends on whether Scot decides to start with two Eeves and evolve them through the playthroughs or start with Espeon and Umbreon directly. I don't think starting with the Eeves is a good idea, cause they're friendship evolutions, so he really can't be sure when exactly they're going to evolve, and whoever evolves first, is gonna gain a massive advantage over the other, which wouldn't be fair. And if they take a long time to evolve, like, for example, they don't evolve until the 4th or 5th gym that would feel more like an Eevee run, and again, it wouldn't be fair to whoever takes longer to evolve. If he starts with Espeon and Umbreon directly, they're both gonna struggle against Bugsy because of fury cutter, but Umbreon stands more chances cause it's a lot bulkier, so Umbreon might get through Bugsy on its 1st or 2nd attempt, whereas Espeon will take longer due it being more frail. Against Whitney I wager Umbreon can take a lot more rollouts too, giving it more chances of winning. Espeon can't take many of those. Against Morty, Umbreon has the type advantage, but if Espeon knows a psychic move by then both of them stand equal chances of one-shotting the goshts. Against Chuck Espeon has an advantage. Against Jasmine, both will struggle, but again, if Espeon has a psychic move it can take advantage of their low sp. Def to beat them. Or they can try with dig, since they can both learn it. Against Pryce they're equally good, and Against Claire the only problem is gonna be her Kingdra, and they both stand equal chances of beating it. In the league, Umbreon stands better chances vs Will because of type advantage, but Espeon is also good with Shadow ball from Morty (eventhough it is a physical move in this gen), I'd say Espeon is better vs Koga because of his poison types, Umbreon is better vs Karen, and Espeon is obviously better against Bruno. Against Lance they're equally fucked, cause none of them can learn ice moves, unless Scott gives them hidden power ice. As you can see, Umbreon does stand lots of chances of winning, especially cause Espeon doesn't get access to psychic until Kanto. Once Espeon gets psychic tho, it's gonna sweep through Kanto, but Umbreon stands better chances against Red's own Espeon and his Snorlax. If Snorlax starts spamming Amnesia it's gonna take Espeon a loooot of time to beat that thing. In short, I think both stand equal chances of winning, that's why I think it would be an interesting challenge.
Pd: Actually, now that I think bout it, Espeon stands better chances than Umbreon vs Red. Sabrina gives you the calm mind tm when you beat her, so all Scott has to do is set up on either Pikachu or Red's own Espeon cause they can't really do much, and then one shot the rest with psychic. It's preferable to set up the calm minds on Red's Espeon, cause Pikachu can paralyze you and that's obviously bad. Red's Espeon on the other hand can't do much damage to another psychic type, cause I don't think it has any gosht moves, so it will be perfect to set up calm mind until he's at +6 sp. Attack and Defense. After that, just press the psychic button and the Snorlax and 3 starters will automatically go down. Even Red's Espeon can't take a Psychic at +6 sp. Attack, that way, Scott won't have to use Shadow ball (which was a physical move) against it. So yeah, I thought Umbreon stands more chances vs Red, but nope. Espeon with Calm mind and Psychic has really high chances of defeating him on his second or third attempt, if not the 1st. So yeah, if it's ever done, Umbreon will be just slightly better in the Johto part of the playthrough. After beating Lance tho? Espeon will gain momentum and probably win, especially with Psychic and Calm mind.
This one should be easy enough. Though ice beam is only available after beating the e4, wich is a bit awkward 🤔
Pacing is weird in this game. When you break it down, the actual game content really isn't that much since all of Kanto(minus original Cinnabar Island; plus a showdown with Red) is the post game
@@InfernosReaper Gen 2's game design is by far the worst in the series. The only thing that it did well was the colored Pokémon sprites.
@@somedogsarecops2354 Indeed it is, people praise it too much for the possibilities it represents, than what it actually does, even worse to imo is that HG/SS only fixes little of it.
@@mightywoll3 Mechanically, the special attack/defense split was good, but I will definitely concede that Steel type is OP defensively.... Why does it resist Dark and Ghost? No clue.
I'll also argue that Dark was a bit unnecessary, since its main point seemed to be a nerf-bat to Psychic, which was already toned down enough with the stat split, removal of the unintentional Ghost immunity, Steel resisting Psychic, and bug moves that weren't trash...
Honestly, though, maybe Dark existing was fine, but full on immunity to Psychic seemed a bit excessive.
@@somedogsarecops2354 This is by far the worst Pokemon take, and I see it a lot from modern Pokefans. It's the worst game to Nuzlocke or speed through, but...that isn't the point. Gen 2 was meant to be open world exploration where everything is available to you. The pacing is slower, which is to its benefit if you're actually trying to take your time and enjoy the game.
Sorry for the cheesy ass comment, but dude, you are doing an amazing job with these videos, they are all just so easy and enjoyable to watch and i appreciate the huge amounts of effort put in 💚
Thanks so much npc! Your cheesy ass comment is very much appreciated!!
I seriously love your videos!! I’ve been a fan for like a year now and I love watching you grow as a channel.
Thanks Maddy! The journey has been so interesting. I can't believe where this has taken me.
Lanturn is such an amazing pokemon with an amazing typing. Love this angler fish 🐟
How am I supposed to wait three hours. I got the itch to watch Scott's thoughts lol
I've been lazy, but now I'm gonna spam under your videos. You're doing a great job, Scott and you deserve a wide audience.
I recall that time from my chilhood in early 00's, when I got sick and spent almost two weeks with my GameBoy. After catching every possible Pokémon and making them lvl 100, I created a leaderboard of the strongest, fully evolved Pokémon. Since then i've played gen 1-3 games for thousands of hours and our videos bring me the old joy. Keep it going, mate!
As a kid, getting sick was sort of fun because I would also get to spend ridiculous amounts of time with my GameBoy. Glad you're enjoying my videos! See you in the next one ;)
I know I already commented but Scott just wanted to say your videos always brighten up my Fridays on my long day delivering food in my work truck, love listening to them so much man. Thanks for the great content makes Fridays drive home fly by and I look forward to it too.
Hey Alex, thanks for leaving another comment! This one brightened up my Tuesday!
It's great to watch your style evolve man! Your runs are legit and entertaining, and well-considered. Always a pleasure to see you upload! I've been watching your videos for a long time now and you've come so far, thank you for your entertainment you provide :)
Thank you so much Ivan.
Scott (1st playthrough): I think I forgot something...
Me: If you forgot, then it wasn't important!
Scott: Yeah, you're right ~
TM27 Return:
Especially since every Pokémon will basically use Curse/Protect/Return/Rest to be Red at a lower level if they don’t have a better option.
Lanturn has to be one of my favourite designs for a pokemon, plus that awesome type combo that just FEELS cool. So stoked to watch this little fish tear through Crystal!!
The type combo is so cool!
Man Clair’s Kingler’s smokescreen at 16:40 is so powerful it can make it seem like it’s a Kingdra! Another great and fun video to watch, love your channel Scott!
Omg Lanturn!! One of my favorites!!
It's so adorable!!!! (One of my favorite Johto Pokemon now too!)
I am glad to see I am not the only one!
Lantern was my favorite from gen 2
I look forward to your content every week, thank you so much for keeping my Fridays real
I took a summer break of youtube. It’s fun to see your videos again! I hope you’ve had a great summer!
Thanks for the commitment and great video!
Welcome back! Hope the break was refreshing.
babe wake up new scott's thoughts challenge just dropped
Your Gen 2 videos are always my favourites! I was so excited when I got the notification.
I am so proud of you, you have finally finished all the lessons about stall in the stall generation :D
Thanks Scott for being a good part of Fridays, Lanturn actually is one of the Pokémon some may of used in the second gen playthrough unless they picked water starter.
I love how yor editing is getting better and better every video. I loved the musically timed champion intro
I’m a Lanturn Stan so I’m really gonna enjoy this one. Thanks Scott!
Welcome :)
Your videos are getting better and better. I appreciate talking about the stats of the Pokémon you’re using and origin of name as well.
I know it probably takes so much longer for you - but I really enjoy the longer content you produce now. With all the re-runs, best strategies, etc… you’ve come a long way since you started and you can see it in your work. Keep it up bro, your content is very enjoyable !
It does take a lot of work. Honestly last year a 20 minute video every week was almost impossible because it was so much work. I’m constantly working to improve automation, efficiency, etc. now with Shawn and I working this length is quite sustainable.
When I started watching your challenges I did a solo run with lanturn. It was walled by that rival 2 fight and red. Great video
I have been waiting for your next video and this was the best yet!
One of my favorite Pokémon being played
Thanks Scott, you made my day
I like the detail that Lanturn's face changes based off what is going on in the game. Nice video!
When I was a kid, I tought Zap Cannon was so good. "Oh, super powerful and it paralyzes? Cool!"
Just that god awful accuracy though.
I love what you did with the sprites facing off before the big battles! At 23:11 Lanturn is looking mean and ready for war. It sets up the ambiance quite nicely.
Made me laugh at least :)
Oh! one of my all-time favourites!
I am pretty sure it will illuminate the run like no other!
Neat run & analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
Scott back at it again showing some of my favorite Pokemon some love
It's a good pick for a favorite Pokemon!
Oh God!!!! I'm so glad your doing this as Lanturn is one of my favourite 2nd gen pokemon 😍😍😍
Scott, been watching since the beginning. I love how you now have added an avatar with the Pokémon being used in the gym leader battles. Can’t wait to see the next solo challenge.
Yeah, I’m really proud of these battle intros! Glad you like them too!
i love lanturn so much! it’s been crushing my radical red playthrough ☺️
I legit forgot this was introduced as early as gen 2. Thank you for making this!
I'm excited to see another run. Keep up your amazing work 👏
I will! :)
That Whitney fight reminded me of one playthrough of Gold where I used whirlpool/perish song Politoad. I think I remember a bug where if you switch out your trapper on turn 3 then the game won't register the opponent is trapped and switch out even though a player wouldn't be able to do that.
Super excited to see this one in action. Lanturn was one of my favorites back in the day.
Never expected Lanturn to be such a struggle, but man, I bet it felt amazing when you finally got a strategy that worked!
It did feel amazing
Just noticed the changing expressions on the Lanturn on the left, really nice touch
One of my all time favorite Pokémon! It looks so happy!
Moment of appreciation here for the nice timing with the visual edits to the music (specifically 23:09).
Oh boy, I can't wait to hear Scott's Thoughts, nice and fresh today!
This poor fish... It did its best, and it was better than I expected for a two stage fish I'd never used, but alas :<
Glad for more Crystal! You keep getting more fun to watch! Sorry for the hardship on this one :
Lanturn's such a cutie! I don't think I've ever used it so seeing what it's capable of is certainly interesting. You fought hard, little football.
18:17 - Surf probably would have one shot the Jynx, as it is more powerful than Thunder, in the rain considering Neutral damage.
I've always loved Lanturn. It's my go too choice for filling the water slot on my Johto teams until replacing it late game with Kingdra.
That's why the best way to play a Joto game is water monotype, or if you hate yourself satus only run.
Yes Lanturn one of my favorite gen 2 pokemon! Been waiting for this since the Ampharos video.
I like the use of the full line for these challenges, not just the final form from the start of the game.
That's how it will be for all the Johto videos, just not the gen 1 videos.
Hello Scott and Denis!
No idea what to expect with this one. Looking forward to watching it while I relax on vacation. 🙂
I like how lanturn keeps changing facial expressions. Well, the eyes at least.
Lanturn was one of my favorites in Gen 2 and 3, excited for this one :)
this mon holds a special place in my heart. as a kid i played gold every day and every playtrough it was on my team :)
I honestly didnt know lanturn exist until my first play through of pokemon crystal last year. With it cool design and fun typing it easily became one of my favorite pokemon
Always loved Lanturn. Great video good sir 👍
Fun fact: In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX for the Switch, the Illuminate ability was overhauled completely to instead make every move that produces light cause a "Follow Me" redirection effect. So despite having access to way better options to use, using Flash to lower opponents' accuracy and then forcing them to attack the bulky Chinchou/Lanturn is a possibility. I do wonder if this could be implemented into the main series. Could be interesting for VGC.
@40:15 Know that feeling bro.
Great vid as always.
I never gave this pokemon a chance when I was a kid but honestly it's grown on me over the years.
11:13 In Morgan Freeman voice "Clefairy did not in fact, waste a turn by getting safeguard"
This made me really happy because Lanturn is probably my favorite Johto pokemon
I'm very eager to see this run because as an extremely young kid I remember my one of my first significant runs was with a Lanturn in the game. I remember catching it I believe around the docks of Olivine and I was shocked to find a chinchou there. It was such a cool idea that once I was satisfied with an ampharados I made it a effort to get Lanturn. It's preevolution eyes are so cute, and lanturn is not a terrifying creature as it couldve been given its real life counterparts.
I actually somewhat recently played Soul Silver and dedicated the run to only using Gen 2 mons, with Lanturn (I named her Chun-chun) being one of them! I ended up falling in love while fighting Lance, since I did a lot of stalling with Aqua Ring and Substitute but I didn't get Ice Beam so I had to Surf a lot. This video reminded me of that run, and memories are something about Pokemon I love the most ❤
With water being my favorite type I've always liked Chinchou and Lanturn because they help cover any possible issues with water and flying types in an all water team. Plus they make an ugly fish adorable.
Love love looooove the generation 2 challenges! My favorite generation by far!
The Azaela Town Rival if you're doing a solo run is brutal.
By the rules I play Gen 2 (max pokemon in my possession being 1+ held gym badges) he is the single scariest fight in the whole game since I often have to beat him with just my starter and an Egg(because with how Gen 2 handles happiness growth I want the egg to hatch in a specific route).
Always loved this Pokemon. Used it in both gen 2 & 3 as a kid on almost every playthrough I did. Also remember brute forcing the entire Elite 4 with it on my first playthrough of HeartGold using Stockpile to boost stats. Posting this before watching the vid but looking forward to seeing how you do.
Yay, Another Johto Video! I hope the weather has been nice for Denis at the lighthouse. I think that lantern will go quickly through the game. My guess is a b tier time
It's time! Super excited to see this one :)
I just have to say, that transition sequence at 17:50 is really smooth.
23:09 I know I sound like a broken record, by now, but it's sooo satisfying, to me, when the Pokémon are perfectly matched to the music like this; kudos! Bonus points because even the arrow on the "Vs Lance" screen seems to match the music.
I laboured over this intro until it was perfect! I’m so happy with it! Even how Lance slides across the screen is timed with the music :)
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Trust me, I've noticed 😁!
9:16 Yeah, to optimize a playthrough with flail you need to know the exact percentages for full damage.
Putting out videos of this quality every week has to be a ton of work. I just wanted to let you know your work is appreciated, Scott.
Haha it really is a lot of work! Glad all of it is paying off though. Enjoy :)
Love these videos, exploring Pokémon I have literally never used is so cool. For content creation, do you like solo plays or versus plays better? Obviously one is more work but I feel like the competitiveness of a versus playthrough is also very compelling.
Solo is more fun for me. Versus is very stressful and the comments are typically more negative. I try so hard to be unbiased and fair but a few people always think I'm trying to make one Pokemon win. That really demotivates me from making more versus videos.
Awesome vid with one of my fave water types! Being as you mentioned you wanted to do more in crystal/ gen 2, how about a video to see who's better Slowbro vs Slowking? Just a suggestion, keep up the awesome content dude!
That one is near the top of my list!
The *slow* transformation of every tank into a Gen 2 competitive Snorlax.
Lanturn is super adorable 😊! And it has some good typing. Lanturn is based on light, and you've enlightened your second run with tons of knowledge from your amphros run, so it was really fun watching how you've progressed. Well played! 😁
But I do think that hidden power bug(yeah I'm aware that bug is physical in this gen, but it can help with coverage) /psychic would have helped you more with consistency during the elite four. Karen's pokemon are really frail with physical attacks, and so does will and onter grass types, that you've had problems with.
Also, I think that blizzard is a good move for the league instead of thunder, because you can save rain dance for later, because it's kind of restricting. Always remember that you teach some moves more then one time, I think there's onter rain dance TM in Celadon's department store, so keep that in mind . 🤔
You can tast, if you'd like, for more defensive pokemon, cruse+ swagger +toxic +attract/protect for maximum Karen effect, if you know what I mean 🤣, against Red. I'm not sure that would work as intended 100%of the time, but I can assure you that you could have fun with that. 😊
Like always I had a great watching that run, so keep up the good work. 😊☺️
Rain dance thunder combo is my favorite I sure hope I see it for my own personal nostalgia
Yeeee Lanturn. I’m planning to do a solo run in GSC with Chinchou, my favourite pokemon! This will be fun to watch, get some inspo ;)
I'm very fond of Lanturn as a Pokemon, such a cutie with awesome typing.
The big thing you have to remember is that when rain is up surf actually does more damage than thunder because of the 1.5x dmg rain multiplier that makes it a 135 base power move compared to thunder's 120 base power
Lanturn is probably my favorite Water type from Johto, and easily in my top 10 favorites of the type. Let's see how the challenge goes
wouldn't it be easyer to train against geodude in the dark cave or on route 29 in the tall grass since it's a water type and knows bubble?
I've never thought of it. G/S has its trainers levels set to the slow growth group. 🤔
i love Lanturn! he's one of my favorite pokemon and is my first gym leader's ace in my pokemon fan region!
I love Lanturn! I trained one up to use in Pokemon Stadium 2 but it was definitely harder than I thought it would be. She's a good pick to play against friends though
I cant watch this yet but Lanturn is my fave Pokemon. It might struggle a bit more in gen 2 than 3 but I'm VERY excited to watch this!!
I love Lanturn! It’s even better in gen 3 onward because it can have volt absorb which is a great ability
Lanturn is the best. I love how it later gets the Volt Absorb ability, making it SO much stronger, plus its design is cute. I'm kinda sad it went to C but I get it; it is rather slow and doesn't get all of its better puffs in later gens. It was still a great video!
Also if you had kept the Egg Moves, the only thing Chinchou could have used against the rival after the second Gym is Screech... YEA... not so helpful.
