FAQ from the video:
Why Rock Slide and not Earthquake?
I'm so used to Rock/Ground as a dual type that I always assume Rock Slide is better against Koga/Lorelei etc. Honestly just a mistake, Earthquake is better because of accuracy in most of these cases.
Jrose11 posted Dugtrio on the same day, did we coordinate it?
Nope, I had no idea and was surprised by the coincidence just like everyone else. Check his Dugtrio video out here: • How Fast Can You Beat ...

I love when RUclipsrs accidentally make similar videos, and then *don't get all butthurt at each other.* Reminds me that, by and large, this isn't so much a competitive platform.
Earthquake also would've done more damage than slash against the slowbro even if the crit modifier was x2
Idea for a challenge that might take you a bit. Pokemon yellow nuzlocke, but you MUST keep pikachu alive until the champion. Then he can die lmao
@@somaricraftbros6283 I think you should ammend that to "alive, in your party, and active."

I like how the Diglett on the left side of the screen has different reactions depending on what's going on during the first playthrough.
So cute! Just a great touch
great timing with jrose's dugtrio run. would love to see shellder run soon love the vids
And it was a brutal run
What a coincidence! I'll have to check his out when I'm done work today.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Do it, you'll have a blast!
Shellder is pure water though, so it will be different than cloyster.
Right?! Just finished JRose’s videos on the dugtrio and I’m excited to see this one.
Diglett: *cleaves half of Mewtwo’s hp*
Scott: Diglett you boss!
Mewtwo: You mispronounced corpse… *Psychic Crush*
for the lorelei fight: rock slide has 75 base power, as a super effective move it deals 150. earthquake with stab also deals 150 but it has a 99,6% chance to hit.
but it's more satisfying to see the super effective text
Nah he made a mistake but from now on he won’t. I think Scott is a natural scientist. I can tell.
@@BuggytheStar the text wastes time so it's worse
One thing I really love about these videos are tiny details like sad eyebrows on Diglett @ 3:52
It's so easy to miss, but if you watch carefully, you can find so many easter eggs
9:38 What happen to it eyes
The math is confusing
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Oh that was that is I thought it eyes were ripped off.
Ooooh, I like the Hiker art! I love that notable NPCs have their own art
So I was watching the premiere of this run at my new job and my boss saw me watching it. I thought I was going to get in trouble but it turns out he likes Pokémon challenge videos too. I gave him the channel info and I guess he's going to binge watch your channel.
Thanks so much for sharing my content with him
lol
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon keep up the excellent work man. I really enjoy your content and memes with your content.
Where can I get your job lol
@@GhGh-gq8oo I work Backhouse HR so I usually have my phone with RUclips up.
Love how these videos have all these fancy graphics on the side, especially how the Diglett Sprite changed when it fainted or when a fight was won occasionally ;) very entertaining despite being so long
Started with J Rose, stayed for Scott. Love you work brother
Having a head to head with JRose shows just how great you've become this past year. Keep knocking them out of the park
A super effective Rock Slide does the same damage as a neutral STAB Earthquake, so you can avoid the 90% accuracy by just using EQ on Lorelei.
indeed. Rock/Ground dual types have given me back habits.
This will be very interesting to compare this to Jrose dugtrio run, this will be even more brutal Lorelei will be the true champion challenge of this run
Something tells me the mid game of this run is going to be pure pain. Also shoutout to the first Scott's Thoughts/Jrose collab. We knew you'd make it
There is a collab?!
@@azeemsiddiqui4764 it ain't a collab this guy dont know what hes saying, just pure coincidence J did a dugtrio run just hours before this diglett run
Pure coincidence, but I'd love to collab with him one day! I've still got along way to go through imo before something like that would be possible.
@@the_juug_god4100 it was a joke too, it really was flawless timing though
As bug type lover aswell I'd absolutely LOVE a Shuckle only run, he's my favorite Pokémon ❤️
I always love the part the tier list gets brought up, gives me a sense of completion to slowly get the roster filled up, appreciate it
Also since so many different creators are having solo challenge runs of individual mons now, why haven't we created a real meta yet, or started speedrunning gen 1 with different mons, red and blue alone would get you 151 new speedrun categories, add yellow and it's double!
I think we have enough dedicated fans to create a niche solo speedrun meta.
I'd love to see how far the community could stretch the boundaries of what's considered possible.
Thanks for contribution and inspiration dude, I appreciate your videos, keep it up
I want this too. Hopefully I can build some tools to make it happen. Time permitting
Pokémon Lunch #12. So diglett is a mole, so I’ll make Mole which is a Mexican sauce/marinade. I’ll put it over some enchiladas. Anyone have a better idea??
Very interesting coincidence that Jrose’s dugtrio video also comes out today. I love the videos Scott, keep them coming
What would you make on Ditto day?
An everything bagel 🥯
When RUclips recommends a channel like this it's a proof the algorithm knows me well! I've enjoyed so many hours of your content in the last couple of days! Been nice to see the changes you've done when jumping back and forth between new and old videos. Keep up the good work.
I really enjoy how diglett’s “facial” expressions change, based on what’s happening during the run. Just another little optimisation you’ve added to your channel. 😆
They were very fun to draw!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon love your work, Scott! Keep the great content coming!
Glad to see you're still pumping videos. Keep it up. Glad to see how much you still include the community in the run.
Nothing but good wishes!!
You and jrose11 are awesome! I love how you do multiple play throughs to improve your time.
Diglett's little animations to the left when it does well in battle is SO CUTE
I couldn't stop showing them to my fiancé as I drew them... it was such a fun process.
Excellent video, as always!
I always find it strange (yet fitting) how Brock is such a brick wall that is so time consuming to get through, yet makes parts of the game so much faster because of all the levels gained from it.
Also, loved the *true* final battle at the end.
Now, off to watch JRose's Dugtrio run as well!
Thank you for all of the content you've been releasing recently dude. Your videos (and jrose's) have been a massive escape for me for when I wind down from difficult 12 hour shifts. You guys are legends ❤️
You’re welcome! I’m glad that the content helps after the difficult and long shifts.
Love to see the praise my little diglett gets! I had a Dugtrio in my very first gen 1 playthrough back in the 90’s. Thanks again for a great video and Yeah what a coincidence that Jrose posted a dugtrio video while you did this one
I'm not usually someone who seeks out challenge run content, but I gotta say, there's something really compelling about your videos. The writing feels fun and organic, the editing is fantastic (loved watching Diglett's expression change through this one lol), and your voice is just really nice to listen to! I'm really glad I started watching your stuff, thanks for putting in the time to make them!
Glad the extra effort put into editing makes a difference for you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
Thanks for another great video. Loved the facial expressions on the Diglett.
I never usually comment on youtube videos, but just figured I'd say that Venomoth has always been my favourite pokemon, and so the running gag of Venomoth being forgettable tickles me. Venomoth is that same kind of ugly-but-cute which makes pugs so endearing, plus it's such an underdog success story in competitive play (going from almost useless in Generation 1-3, to being a huge beneficiary of the physical/special split in Generation 4, to getting Quiver Dance in Generation 5). I love that goofy lil' moth.
Omg someone else who loves Venomoth. It's nice to meet you! Glad you enjoyed the facial expressions on Diglett!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, keep the good work you're the one that's incredibule!
I think it's so cool that we have a Pokemon solo run community with lots of players and lots of perspectives. Red/Blue/Yellow, Pokedoll exploit vs Rocket hideout, rare candy usage and timing, etc etc. Days like this, where serendipity aligns and we have two of the biggest players putting out Diglett and Dugtrio videos on the same day, serve to highlight just how good we have it :) Thanks as always Scott for your tireless passion for Pokemon Yellow and 69 jokes 😁
I can really feel you hitting your groove here! This video was great, keep up the good work!
Hello Scott,
the Videos got evry time more Quality
i love it!
Every time you bring one Video i watch it immediatly when i got time.
Greet job as always!
5:26 appreciate the little detail that the innocent blank expression on the left gets edited into an aggressive one for a large portion of the video. the brief happy expression was cute too.
Jrose drops dugtrio and scott drops diglett on the same day. Nice
I just watched JRose’s Dugtrio video, so the timing is impeccable!
What a good day for Diglette/Dugtrio fans!
Indeed!
Diglett was definitely one of my favorite Pokémon. He made the Lt Surge fight easy and had great speed although little defense.
It’s incredible how most of us came from little kids playing Pokémon in our school yards to being grown men and still having a love for it. It’s as beloved a franchise as dragon ball.
I LOVE the expressive Diglett to the side of the game screen
Great thumbnail - this color scheme and style is the best you've had, really like the ideas
Really really love the little Diglett sprite you had on the side that reacts based on the situation, made your already enjoyable videos more enjoyable ^•^
Such a great detail to add diglets face reactions! I mostly listen to these but today I watched. Stuff like this is what sets you apart! Great idea
Great video as always, I really love the layout, specially the moves it knows and the ones that it can learn
The layout will get better soonish!
NGL, this was more interesting after seeing the Jrose video.
Your videos are great, thanks.
congrats for remembering rock slide is super effective on venonat and venomoth. but stab EQ does the same damage as super effective non-STAB rock slide
your content is awesome, and I am glad to keep supporting you :)
I never really appreciated Diglett enough in gen 1, but I have new found respect for it now. Also it’s sprite is quite adorable in Pokemon yellow. Thanks for the great content as always Scott!
Welcome ;)
I love these little changes in Digletts facial expressions!
It's the little things I like about this channel, like editing your Diglett to be happy when you beat Koga :)
I really liked this run, the diglet showing determination or fainting on the left really adds to the emotion and it seems like you are getting better at the game every video!
Glad the small improvements are noticable!
I'm really happy that you've gotten so big! Rarely am I early to a channel. So even though you might not see all the comments now (please don't worry about it, after a certain point reading the entire comment section is bad for your health) I'm happy that that's because you've gotten so successful
Yeah, there will come a time that reading all the comments will be impossible. But I really don't want that day to come. There is so much to be learned from all of you!
Little changes to the Diglett's face are adorable, nicely done:)
I always loooved playing with diglett/dugtrio in Gen1. So happy to see you play this little guys
Phenomenal video here, though perhaps I'm biased with Diglett being my favourite Ground type Pokémon! I knew Diglett had good Special (Special Defence) but I didn't think you would be able to take advantage of it given the low HP. Turns out I was wrong and that Mimic turned out quite useful for Diglett as well.
I'm loving the "watch to the end" bonus content. It's really cool to see.
When I was playing Yellow as a kid, I always made sure to grab a Dugtrio(rare chance, but they exist) from Diglett cave before Lt. Surge.
This ended up eventually making me like the Diglett line as a whole, and seeing a new form for it in the Alola games was actually pretty cool.
Another banger, Scott. Keep them coming!
Oh! You added the Professor Oak battle, excellent! Nice little easter egg at the end there.
I've always liked Diglett so it's nice to see him getting some recognition in this video. At first, he appears to be a one trick pony, but he can be pretty versatile.
There's a ton of details worth checking out, and Diglett's expressions are adorable.
Here, have my sub.
Welcome to the channel Satel! Glad the details stood out. I spend a lot of time thinking about them.
Great run! Nice timing with jrose1 dugtrio run, addition of rest definitely felt like it made Lorelai more consistent
This is going to be an interesting one. Diglett's biggest thing going for it will be his speed, and then later on, access to Fissure in the later game. Do PP up's exist in Gen 1?
If anything, his low special hurts him as much as the HP. Let's hope the little mole can prove us all wrong (at least, I see him as a mole).
Yes, PP ups exist in gen 1
PP Ups are the best items. They do exist :)
Decent run & analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
Lol woke up watching the dugtrio run by jrose now I'm going to end my day with a Diglett run! You guys should do this more often!!
Haha yeah that would be fun.
From the new thumb style to the expressions of the diglett in the left, I really liked the new design choices in this video
More coming soon :)
9:55 I Caught that cheeky look on Digletts face hehehehe
Oh he changes his expressions all video! That is adorable! Love the video Scott!
Trying to give the Pokemon some personality! Plus, it's been relaxing getting back into some simple drawing.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon And it paid off man! I look forward to the next video, Thanks again for this treasure.
The various expressions Diglett has during the video are so cute. aaaaaa
Someone has probably already mentioned this but for mono-Ground types, an SE Rock Slide has 150 base power, the same as a neutral Earthquake. There will definitely be times where its good to use to conserve Dig or Earthquake PP, but Earthquake does the same amount of damage without accuracy issues which would for example make Koga more consistent. Rock Slide doesn't even have a chance to flinch in Gen I (?????) either. It's possible this is a Gen I thing though, Gen I is so interesting mechanically but its a lot to remember.
These videos have been so much fun to watch, I've even booted up the games myself on my spare time and done runs on my own with less of an emphasis on speed though.
I’m really surprised Diglett did so well! Congrats on the play through!
Keep up the great work man you do an amazing job and have got so much better at editing writing and general editorial since the early videos I think you might be a real good candidate to do speed run Pokémon yellow if that’s something you would be interested in anyway keep bringing out the videos and I’ll keep watching!
Thanks so much Michael. I would love to give Yellow speedrunnning a go in the future. Maybe when I’ve got some spare time!
At 15:45 of the video, Scotty has said: "(...) and the gets taken into red." I absolutely love how Scotty refers to pokémon as if they were our own animal buddies. Thank you very much for that!
I need a way to not say Rhydon 6 times in a single paragraph :P so rhino it is
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon, love that. Please keep on doing great contents like these and calling pokémon like animals. Your channel makes me happy and hopeful. Best regards and I wish you and your family are well.
Fun fact: in the little cup format for gen 1(which exists) it is one of the best Pokemon of the format, checked only be eggsecute, the other best Pokemon of the format.
34:27 Your brain really went "it's at low HP, better use a more accurate move" 💀
I’m not gonna lie, you almost had me at Bruno the first time you encounter him xD
What a great series. :)
nice video as always 👍 keep up the good work
I love watching Scott grow as he moves through the dex and plays Yellow
First off, love the vids. Secondly, I love how you prioritize real time instead of In game time. Jrose does in game timr and you use real time, as well as slight version differences makes the runs feel quite unique. Not saying one Is better than the other as a metric but it’s cool to see people measure different onrs
The difference was on display today. I found it fun seeing the difference in approach also the difference between the games!
I really enjoy the diglet animations on the side. Really nice.
Scott: Diglett, you boss!!
Diglett proceeds to get one shot by Mewtwo
Man, the little Diglett emojis in the layout entertained me FAR more than they should have lol
Yay, I really enjoyed the digglet's animations, it was adorable 😊, you should definitely do that with onter pokemon.
Digglet has everything you need for a solo playthrough, it's fast and can one hit almost every pokemon with cirt luck, or with stab damage.
And forgot to say that, the final battle with professor oak was really good, and had a lot of luck involved😅.
Fissure is really good when you have one of the most fastest pokemon in the game, and you could always teach earthquake via tm after Lorelei, but it would have costed you with more resets though, so I get why most people won't use it. 😊
By the way, I really enjoyed that video. Thanks for making me have a great time, you're incredible for making these videos. 😁
Thanks for the comments by the way! You always share so much and I appreciate you taking the time to write them!
You’re right about fissure. I always over look it because of how luck based it feels. I should certainly consider it in cases like this in the future!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Oh, thanks for that 😊, and thanks for always appreciating and reading everyone's comments, that what kinda makes me taking my time writing them and help you out. 😉
Man I love all the little details like the digletts expressions
Thanks for the great content as always. Hopeful for a Skarmory run in the future. Skarmory is super underrated
Love the content. I've been showing your videos to my kids to introduce Gen 1 to them and they have been enjoying it as well. By the way I'm sure it's on your list but my youngest keeps asking for an eeveelution vs. video. Thanks for all you do
The eeveelutions is planned.
there we go.. this could be a though one.. Jrose struggled with the evo.. really excited to see how you play. Good luck. thanks for the content.. :) oh and a nother fact. when you lose to the grunt on nugget bridge you can farm nuggets.. its an error in the code and can help to speed up grinding cash for midgame, coins, vitamins and tm's
Great video, as always. I loved what was obviously a movie reference when you called Pidgeot by Pidgeotto. One of the trainers that makes it to Mewtwo's island says "I flew over on Pidgeotto's back" when he clearly has a Pidgeot. (I'm pretty sure he also claims that all of his pokemon are water types, despite the presence of a Nidoqueen on his team.) Anyway, keep up the good work!
Nah, he had a balanced team. It was the girl that said she had all water types.
Nah, he had a balanced team. It was the girl that said she had all water types.
Also, I like the updated thumbnails. They look great!
Hahaha 1 upping Jrose. I can't wait to see both runs and see how significant evolving diglett is
The happy eyes on diglett after the win are adorable.
Great work Scott! Keep it up
Great video yet again! It is amazing how much faster you can complete this game compared to the remakes. The unique AI choices I’m sure make it a bit more predictable, but still, very impressive
I’m excited to give the remakes and try and feel out the differences!
Scott and jrose on the same day... what a time to be alive!
Diglett couldn't believe that this run was possible, that's why its mouth is open and showing its one tooth
Love the new thumbnail design!
I love Pokémon challenge channels especially gen 1 as it is so unique with the glitches/bugs and so nostalgic. Don’t get me wrong, the newer generations offer a lot more in terms of strategy, challenge, etc. but when channels like yours and Jrose can come up with new and exciting ideas for a 25 year old game I grew up with… nuff said
Yup. Gen 1 is great for them too because it doesn’t take like 10 hours for 1 playthrough!
I was surprised that Diglett didn't completely suck hard. I really thought the bad defense and abysmal HP would prove more of a hindrance. Really love the small changes from one video to the next. The changing image of Diglett throughout was a nice touch. I don't know how you could make your videos even better, but somehow you still manage to do just that.
There are far too many ways to make the videos better! I wish I had more time so I could implement them all sooner!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon you sell yourself short. Your videos are incredible.
Great content as always!! 10 out of 10!! (Base HP, that is)
I loved the lil digglet expresions!
It's crazy that you and Jrose made a Diglett and a Dugtrio video and posted it so near to each other, great minds think alike I guess.
Guessing he'll have to get Diglet to level 100 to win. (Or very close to 100)
Well, I was wrong lol
@@Medabee8 Diglett: "I find your lack of faith... disturbing."
love the face changes you added to diglet
Have an algorithm. This one helped hook me. You anecdote really helped set the stakes.
Dude, you released a Diglett video on the same day Jrose11 released a Dugtrio video! My two favourite subs in sync right there 🙂 and with my favourite Gen 1 ground type!
It’s a good day for Diglett and Dugtrio fans!
It was interesting seeing Diglett and Dugtrio posted so close to each other. Makes it easy to compare them. They feel like they are really good for a time, but also peak very early whenever I use them. They demolish so much stuff when you can usually catch them because Gen1 Dig is just that good coupled with high speed, but it's also the strongest they'll ever be and once the mons get bulkier and survive, they are in trouble. That's how it usually goes when I use it on full teams with less exp to go around anyway.
