hey, I noticed that when you train more levels when you are stuck, it seems like you dont pick consistent level numbers in your playthroughs.
I wonder, are you aware of the damage rounding threshold? (Levels ending with 0, 3, 5 and 8 give you a much bigger jump in damage than other levels, due to the way damage is calculated in the game)
Could be useful to aim for these levels when grinding

Hey, it kinda hurts to see you grinding on wild pokémon in these challenges so I got a tip for you: there's a trainer in the route bellow the lake of rage and above the city of the 8th gym. His name is pokémaniac Brent and if you call him on monday at 4am he's gonna offer a remach, but that's not all, you can call him basically forever and he will continue fighting you untill it's 10am. You can just change the time and date and there it is, you can easily grind exp with him. He has a team of a gyarados and the two nidos (adding a lickitung to the mix later) and those give a considerably good amount of exp so you may try this out to speed up your challenges cuz I know how painful it is to grind in this game

      @Otonio_Bruno 9 месяцев назад +8

Not really, you actually got a good interpretation of the IVs numbers. Unfortunately, at low levels, those IV calculation is pretty inconsistent, that's why you get such a big range of possible IVs for each stat. Pokemon caught in higher levels gives a more precise way to calculate IVs due to how the stats are calculated.

Note that the Choice Scarf would boost speed after EVs and the Nature, which would allow a perfect Munchlax to actually outspeed some things (though not this one of course).
The same principal is why Pikachu is actually kind of decent in Gen 2, as the Light Ball doubling its Special Attack actually ends up giving it the second highest Special Attack in the game, well above Alakazam (but still below Mewtwo). A STAB Thunderbolt from it is incredibly strong, it has Surf to deal with Ground types, and base 90 speed is very respectable for Gen 2, so it ends up as a surprisingly decent glass cannon. Marowak ends up in a similar position with its Thick Club giving it the highest attack in the game by over a hundred points, and it has actual defenses, but it's much slower.

So one of the differences between Gen 2 and HGSS is that, unlike Gen 2, Red's Pikachu is HOLDING A LIGHT BALL in this game. Not only that, but even if Blastoise didn't use Focus Blast, both he and Snorlax afterward have Blizzard, and we all know what Blizzard is like in a hailstorm.

@@gmsloep yeah but him having a Johto mon was cool tbh. Besides it made sense because it's an Eeveelution and you got a free Eevee in the Kanto games. He didn't force the Eevee to evolve with a stone, and it evolved later on (probably while on Mount Silver) via friendship, showing how he's a Trainer who really cares about his Pokémon and their own wants, as well as the fact he treats them as friends (which is basically the lesson the Pokémon franchise is overall known for teaching)

31:49 - Your best friends in the early game will be the free Powder Charges you can find around Powder Ganger outposts and the prison (it's considered stealing to take some of them so make sure you're not seen), and the Dynamite you can pilfer off their bodies. If you can save up enough, the Gun Runners' 25mm Grenade APW will be your best friend because it's basically the "assault rifle" for explosive playthroughs. It's weaker than the 40mm Grenade Launchers and Rifles but it's still strong enough to perform well in most combat engagements while having cheaper ammunition available in larger quantities.
Certain places where Viper and Jackal gang members spawn tend to have someone with a 40mm grenade rifle and ammo, you can disarm and take frag mines near Primm, and areas between Camp McCarren and Fiend territory, Satchel Charges are pretty damn easy to make and are stupidly powerful, and there are Fat Men launchers capable of being found for free, but they're in generally terrible condition and the Gun Runners ammo for them isn't exactly cheap.
Further advice regarding explosives only can be found in this Reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/fnv/comments/oqw1sc/you_all_owe_yourselves_an_explosives_build_trust/
The biggest problem is, as always, the Bethesda game engine. Every so often I'd come across an enemy that was completely invincible to explosive damage. And no, I don't mean, my explosive missed, or they barely took any damage, or I was relying too much on VATS. I mean, I would fire Grenade Machine Gun Rounds, Grenades, Big Kid Mini Nukes, etc. and they would not take *ANY* damage. (Also, it's not caused by mods.) It's mostly Centaurs and Cazadores so it doesn't make the game _completely_ unplayable, but without a mod that addresses the issue you'd have even more problems than just the normal gameplay ones.

Not so much a horror story, but Voltorb Flip related.
Current challenge I'm working on had me playing the side game for enough coins to obtain a Dratini (I know there is one way later in the game, but I wanted this one, for some reason). I got very lucky and it only took me 40mins to earn over 2100 coins. I normally dread Voltorb Flip, but I was able to stay calm and kept my streak going strong, for the most part. Knowing how to read the board helped. The top number tells you the total numbers in that row or column, and number next to the Voltorb told you, well, the number of Voltorbs in that row or column. So the lines with zero Voltorbs are the freebees. Then you skip the lines that equal 5, those won't earn you coins as you are looking to reveal the tiles with a value of 2 or 3. From there, it is luck, quite literally a coin flip at times. I managed to reach Lv.5, that is the highest I ever got on a personal level.
Is Voltorb Flip fun? Heck no

It's kind of like how Jrose and MDB have on two occasions done a run in the same game with the same Pokemon right next to one another. It's not copying. It's just not.

23:17 Destiny bond lasts until the users next turn in combat, so stalling with stockpile, or any other move that wont defeat the opponent, is a valid strategy.

For the IV checker, you really dont get a good sense of what your IVs are unless you track your EVs as you level up a couple levels.
As for Voltorb Flip, I enjoy it more than slots but not enough to grind out the 10k coins. There are some solvers online that can help you get to higher levels if you dont want to save state every flip, though sometimes its all up to rng.

I've never been in time to suggest a Pokemon challenge before so if no one has suggested this, I have an idea.
Challenge: Pokemon game of your choice but you can only use moves with 'X' amount of letters in. If you do 5 letters for example you can use pound or ember but not tackle. Gives a lot of flexibility on the team and moves set. You can also do this run for probably a good couple letter amounts and generations. More than anything I hope it's something new and exciting for you to try.

In New Vegas there is a craftable explosive that unlocks once you take the Mad Bomber perk. It only 3 microfusion cells to craft and does pretty good damage. You can just collect ammo off corpses or buy/steal some from the Silver Rush and you should be able to make almost 100 of the things.
There is also the MFC cluster grenade which only needs some duct tape, scrap electronics, and microfusion cells and makes a grenade that has six projectiles that all explode and damage independantly.

For your confusion: if you check your IVs at a higher level (10-15) you'll have a much easier time reading the possible IVs. stats points are so relatively large at level 5 that IVs barely make a difference

Voltorb Flip, while sometimes frustrating, is very fun if you know the tips for which panels not to pick.
If a row or column has exclusively 1's or Voltorb then you do not need to flip any of them, just mark them as 1 and Voltorb so you don't forget. You can tell if the row only has 1's by the number of Voltorb and row total. 2 points and 3 Voltorb, 4 points and 1 Voltorb, any combination that adds up to 5 is a dead row. The only time you should do a dead row is when it's 5 points 0 Voltorb.
This continues to other rows too. If there's a row of like 5 points and 1 Voltorb, there's one 2, three 1's, and one Voltorb. If you find the 2's and 3's and the rest are 1's or Voltorb, ignore the rest of the row.
If you see a row that has a Voltorb identified by your work from on other rows then it'll help a lot.
I've done some runs in HeartGold and I enjoy getting coins for Items or TM's.

Here’s a tip for if you ever do more HGSS solos and get to Red: certain dates get rid of the hail on Mt. Silver, a phenomenon known as diamond dust. February 29th, March 15th, October 10th, and December 31st are the specific dates in HGSS. I’ve done quite a few unevolved solos in HGSS and getting rid of the hail was essential for a few of them, so that’s a tip from me to you.

I’m actually replaying soulsilver right now. I’m working on getting thunderbolt for my lanturn right now and I’m about halfway there and I’ve honestly enjoyed it. Voltorb flip does have skill involved though it’s also random. You get to where you can use the numbers of voltorb and number of points to determine which cards are either voltorb or a 1 so you know not to flip those cards. And also do the math to know whether you’ve got all the worthwhile cards in a given row. Voltorb flip is actually pretty addicting for me but I totally understand save staying through it because it does take for-freaking-ever to get 10,000 coins whether you enjoy it or not
