For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

The moment Sheldon sat down perplexed just like Howard when he lost his mom is just... mesmerizing, you can be thrown all the way back to the same feeling, and then you remember sheldon's thing about not having friends to go through with it.

And the sheer weight of power that his comment comes with considering all his social issues
“You do (have friends to help you through this)”
Even just thinking about that scene brings a tightness to my throat
Especially as someone who suffered (and still does suffer) through childhood due to social disorders from the spectrum…

Eighteen years ago, when we were writing and producing The Big Bang Theory, it seemed like a good idea to imagine that Sheldon's childhood was deeply disrupted by the loss of his father. No one could have thought that someday we would regret that decision. That someday is now.
There were a lot of tears on stage when this episode's last scene was shot. A reminder that we had all fallen in love with a fictional character. Which is, itself, a reminder to love the characters in our life who are real. To do otherwise, is to live with regret.

After all the bad things his family would later say about him in TBBT, seeing him in this series really shed light on how we take people for granted. He was nothing but a good father and husband, yet later they only remembered him for his failures. I know it was them writing themselves into a corner, but I still hate them for it. Even when he had the chance to cheat, he only thought of his family. He deserved so much better.

They told him that his mom (my grandma) had passed away from heart attack. We were shocked and crying. Later, I was outside and looking at the south direction. I said that I made a promise that I would see her world where she’s from and our heritage. I will teach my children to remember who we are and our culture/traditions.

when i first watched these two episodes, i could immediately tell from the way george had more of a focus compared to the rest of the season that they were about to kill him off. even as someone who knew it was coming from big bang theory, i was at least expecting them to delay it all the way out to the two-part finale. but i guess they needed full focus on the aftermath and emotions the family feels with this devasting loss. and that’s exactly why it’s still emotional to see even though i knew. not only bc of all the good things coming to him just before and the family being excited for it, but also in that final moment and just seeing all of them just crumble as they were told the news really hits it hard here. mary’s look of disbelief, connie comforting missy as she sobs uncontrollably, peterson and wayne just solemnly looking at them with the most hurt look on their faces. but the most heartbreaking reaction for me HAS to be sheldon’s. this is a kid who has been shown to be years ahead of most intellectually, and with his rigid planning and scheduling, he seems to know how to keep things under control. but in this moment, you truly see just how lost and broken he really is. he has no way of even know where to begin to process this news, he just knows it’s a lot. so his fight or flight response is to just sit slowly into the chair and stare blankly, completely clueless as to what to do. it sucks how hard i can relate to him when it comes to things like this. it also didn’t help that the rest of the season was so lighthearted and fun compared to previous seasons, so this drop hit even harder because of it. i’m sure there’s also a lot they regret from george’s last moment. mary could have kissed him goodbye, told him to have a good day, say that she loved him, but she just reminded him abt the picture. missy could’ve taken one last ride to school with her father, but took the bus instead. sheldon could’ve also said a lot of what mary could have and gone with him too, but he didn’t even look up at him. luckily, georgie was able to have a nice interaction with him just before, although I guess if he knew what was coming, he would’ve laid off the insults. of course, there was no way of them knowing, nor is there any way for any of us to know how much time we have left with the ones we love, but you have to imagine if they have these regrets.
i also can’t believe there’s one more video after this. unlike with big bang, i was able to watch your journey with young sheldon from start to finish, and it’s been so great seeing your reaction to these great episodes. it’s bittersweet but i am still excited to see us close out yet another great show ❤

Knowing still doesn’t cushion the blow 😭 like you said with all that good finally happening for George and the family. Honestly I do like how they did accurately portray the Big Bang theory George at the beginning, when Sheldon would have the most memories since they were together so often to then gradually having less and less time together as George changed and had good moments when Sheldon wasn’t around. Plus Sheldon Eidetic memory probably focusing on the bad in times of stress rather than the good. That’s my take on it tho, these last episodes are going to be one hell of a roller coaster.

On behalf of anyone who wasn't ready for it, R.I.P. George Cooper. 🏈 The Cooper family (especially Sheldon) and the viewers will always remember and love you. And I feel weird stating all of this as these people don't really exist but sometimes you gotta process something even if it's just a TV show. Luckily, he was living in the right environment when he passed on, otherwise, it would be worse than it already was for him.

1:28 - -*Drinking during Young Sheldon... That's like drinking and driving!! (Sort of...)*_ 😂😅
17:50 - *_Yes, however I found the emotions of the two wrong: Sheldon was mad at Tam for supposedly not following him to California, an offer that was never made and the girlfriend wasn't even acknowledged by Young Sheldon here. And o the other side of it, Tam seemed miffed about this last meeting, after being estranged for a few years, but when they meet up in TBBT, he speaks of Sheldon as though they were super close and left on good terms; so it is not perfect, I would say... But then again, Young Sheldon has retconned and deviated from the TBBT lore so often over the years that I don't expect it to follow any of it in the end!_*
20:27 - *_You know, at the start of nearly every episode of the last two seasons, I dreaded that that episode would be the one where we'd see George die (Because I always thought they'd do it before the series ended and that we'd see how the family and Sheldon dealt with life without George for a couple of seasons before the show ended). But then the episode would go on and part way through it, I'd ease into the story and forget about it until the next one. And that happened again for this episode for a while but, as things seemed to go better and better for the Coopers, the dread started to rise more and more... And when it came to this scene where George and Georgie talk about the future and George seem to give Georgie his confidence: It hit me like a ton of bricks that THIS was happening! An later in the episode, when George said goodbye without pomp or circumstance, it just floored me how that could be the very last time his family see him alive (And I think it was such a great touch that we, the audience, don't see him after that; that we neither see him at the school or, worse, having the heart attack)._*
*_This episode and the next two were wonderfully well made (NO SPOILERS GUYS!): Can't wait for your reaction to them!_*

It's really sad when George leaving, Mary remided him about the portrait and he said He wouldn't miss it and when he asked Missy if she want to come with him she said she's taking the bus. That really hurts because if she were to go with him she would've got the chance to see him one last time. And sheldon didn't even looked at him when he was leaving because he's upset. No one knew this was the last moments he's gonna be here with them. We all have to remind ourselves to enjoy every moment and cherish the people we love the most. You never know when will be the last time you will ever see them

I always feel weird when I don't cry at movies and TV shows. George's death was so devastating, but I still didn't break a single tear. Anyone else?

What's crazy is knowing that George's death was coming didn't by any means diminish the impact of actually seeing it happen in front of us. I just really wish they could have got that one last family picture in with George and the new additions to the family.
