- This is one fantastic 2 hour program loaded with amazing memories of airlines, aircraft and liveries that are long gone! Besides that it was filmed back in the days where we got special access for the best and closest views of the airplanes including a visit and views from the tower, filming from the taxiways as well as the runway! In total it features more than 50 airlines, 200 aircraft and 120 takeoffs and landings!
Some of the highlights include the ANA and JAL 747 fleet which has long since been retired. Air India's 747-200s and 300s, American's MD11s, Canadian DC-10 and 67, Continental DC-10 and Continental Micronesia 747, Delta's MD11s, Garuda 747-200, Iberia 747-200, Japan Air System, Japan Asia Airways, Northwest DC10, 747 and one DC10 painted in half KLM livery, Qantas 747-300, Sabena old and new liveries, Swissair and Swissair Asia, Thai 747-300, United Cargo DC10 and last but not least Varig's 747-300!

Fantastic! This is back at the front of my aviation career with "B". Worked on the 744 back then. I remember all of these airplanes from that time frame. Loved the MD-11 too.

I remember that airport so well as a former Flight Attendant.
Narita City itself is wonderful.A microcosm of Japan,with a magnificent Shinto Temple and Park,and excellent facilities specifically for airline crews.Had many a great night out there!!

I missed the airport fill with 747. When i was a kids, all these colourful 747 are truly unlimited wow for me.
The DC-10 is such a beautiful and majestic aircraft and I truly miss it so much, It is my second favorite aircraft behind the Boeing 737.

So beautiful to watch. All those 747s DC-10s and MD-11. You can never get such beautiful planes and sights like this now. Air travel has really deteriorated since 9/11. I feel like I’m going to cry because it’s so emotional to think that airlines have made these beautiful planes into heap of scrap. I don’t care about noise or fuel costs. Nothing beats the class of these aircraft back when air travel was 1000000000 times better
Airplanes are now more safe. Cost to travel is much cheaper, with budget transatlantic airlines and the glut of Mainland Chinese capacity.
I've been to Narita and Haneda, and both are good airports. Narita has an older school feel to it, but it was easy to connect from International to Domestic, and the convenience snack I had was good. I hope in the future I can spend more time here.

All those widebodies and variation in appearance is what got me fascinated with airliners. Nowadays, the young people only have the same variation on a theme - "2 engine tube".

So many beautiful planes. Today you online see ugly 320, 737 and more ugly a380. DC10 and MD11 were such majestic planes. The only ones left today are the 747 and some 340 :(

So many 747s and MD11s, so much better to look at than all these 777s and 330s we see today
Yeah on one hand it’s become quite boring with planes that frankly look the same to an untrained eye.
OTOH planes like the 777, 787, A350 and A320neo and 737Max have made routes that would have been nonviable in that era.

Canadian Air dc10 my absolute favourite of the skies , lucky enough to have flown one from London to Minneapolis many years ago. Sorry I meant dc10 my favourite but saw Canadian Air in clip
The one time i was at narita, i got lost and it was like 90 degrees in the terminal. Still a great airport though. The bus ride to my connecting flight was awesome for filming

I miss those painting. Canadian, Delta, AA, UA, etc. They looked much better then.
So many dc-10s and md-11s, and now they are none in passenger service. Very sad. Loved them and it’s a shame I never got to fly on one

Seeing the "International" Pokémon Jet (JA8962) was delightful, certainly brings a smile and makes me wish these beautiful Pokémon aircraft were still around.
But it's not the only thing to be missed... look at all these 747s, DC-10s, Tristars, A340s, such a delightful diversity of beautiful widebodies which now are almost completely extinct from our skies, which becomes more and more bland every year, and they just killed our last hope for diversity (the A380).
So true. At least ANA ordered some 380's, so let's hope they will extend it's presence a bit longer. I had hope for the 747-8- but that is a dying breed as well.
A world with more 747-8s and A380s surely would've been a much happier (and considerably more comfortable) place, a lot of people make the "debate" of which is better, but I sincerely just wish both would've survived longer in production.
But true! at least we can be happy we've got airlines like ANA and British Airways keep the A380 around for many years to come!
Isn't it hilarious how everybody in society is obsessed with "diversity" these days and yet in the exact same breath they all want us to fly around crammed into the same twin engined planes. Pfft diversity, yeah, whenever it suits them!
@@visionist7 Airline CEOs, executives and other men in suit are out of touch with reality. They just care about their own gains and making profits for shareholders, until the inevitable happens and they go bankrupt.
Now with the A380 gone, I want to see what they will do in 10 years when airports start to become packed beyond belief with aircraft, seriously limiting capacity while air travel continues to grow.

Ahh, the era when aviation was dominated by 2-engine+ or widebodies! Much more fun and variety back then. Nowadays, they all look the same. Sad for us avgeeks, but alas, from an airline business perspective it makes perfect sense.
Until a twin loses both engines a thousand miles from anywhere. Certainly not impossible, whatever they want you to think
Felice Graziano ETOPS rules are very strict. A plane like the A350 is certified by numerous regulators to fly on one engine for up to 6 hours from a diversion airport. Not to mention that by in large; engines have become more reliable.
