Flew into Narita in January 2000, probably not too long after this video was taken. I have never seen so many 747’s, in one place, seemed like half the airport had one at a gate. Sure do miss the Queen.
We all do. I’dd build a time machine just to fly the MH 747-400 again.
Well you may never get to fly on a 747 again but they will still be around for the next 20 or so years I bet, mostly doing cargo hauling though.
NRT was the 747 capital of the world. A very large majority of the 747s produced at one point or another went through Narita.
12:42
You weren't kidding about lots of 747's.
That KLNW just doesn't look right and we need more weird liverys like it
7:45 Love the NW/KLM colours. And all B747's we sadly miss these days.
I don’t understand that why did it look like that
That threw me . Picked KLM before touch down then saw the Northwest left side fuselage and KLM tail
@@bwoolno KLM and Northwest had an alliance in those days and apparently it went as far as changing the livery (I did not see that before, but I knew about the alliance, I think it was short lived).
Today it is between KLM and Air France (and is more than a simple alliance, it really is a merger).
@@Rob2 KLM had an alliance with Northwest. That alliance got transferred to Delta when Delta bought Northwest.
that is my favorite
The good old planespotting days.
Beautiful old days ...
There is some sort of culture of Loving and missing the past in everything, and hating the present and future?
@@pressstart1490 cuz the present sucks
Planespotting is better these days... Better quality and modern planes are just as beautiful as the ones in these video. You're just hating... lol
@@pressstart1490 cuz it's fake in 2022
7:34 DC-10 with dual liveries.
Thank you!
What's going on here? "Split codeshare"?
@@physhmerger I think
@@woodentrainseriesofficial9511it was a route collaboration between KLM and NWA I think
I still miss those L-1011s. Such awesome planes.
I think they are md-11's
yeah i dont think one ever appeared in video
but I sure wish to see those in person
Flew on Delta's L-1011's twice (my very first experience in a "jumbo" jet). The beauty of those Tri Stars (inside and out) is unmatched.
What you saw were DC10s or MD11s.
Loved the L-1011. Flew on them often as a child through my 20s, and they were still in service when I worked for Delta at BOS 30+ years ago. Great airplane.
The Northwest 747 will always be my favorite, I absolutely love the way it looks.
The Continental 777-200ERs gave this video a more modern feel.
Back when 747's ruled the skys and no one wanted to get caught out on a DC10
The dc 10 was statistically a very safe aircraft. I don't know of anyone that wouldnt6 fly on one I flew on them many many times in the 80s up untill 2001. They were much more comfortable than the planes of today the only 3 holes that was more comfortable were the L1011s with Delta.
dc 9 or 10 wsnt safe at all @@Jeff-sp7bg

N78003, the plane that comes into view at 11:21, is still in service with United Airlines. In fact, as I type this, it's in the air en route from Chicago to Munich.
Boeing 777-224(ER)
本当に懐かしい…ポリシュドのノースウェストとかリゾッチャとかこの時台ゴロゴロいた
Miss those days
This Video more than gold, IS PLATINUM.
I love the northwest/KLM DC10 livery. Both of them are my favorite airlines
That is interesting. Never seen that before
So many 747s, brilliant video.
Thanks Robert!
Great to see the Boeing 747 in it’s prime being used. The good old days!
9:13 A Delta MD-11... a rare treat!
There is a polarizer window on the Delta MD11. Haven't seen it on any other plane.
@@antenleelo9405 what’s that and where is it?
i thought the thumbnail was a technical difficulty but no there was really a KLM NorthWest dc10
FAHIM TAJWAR it’s because the 2 airlines wanted to promote their codeshare partnership as they were some of the first airlines to have a codeshare partnership.
Yes there was
I just found that out at 7:38. I thought the thumbnail was a regular NWA DC-10.
Exactly I thought it split the screen and it was editing but then again it makes sense
brought a smile to my face seeing Continental again. Thank you for uploading :)
Too bad united (🖕) destroyed an incredible brand with incredible employees.
@@V1AbortV2 unfortunately happens all too often.
Holy smokes, those Northwest/KLM double liveries trip me up. I know they were codesharing... but wow. Very cool paint concept that you would NEVER see happen today. Also miss the original Delta livery so much.
Golden age when MD, DC, 747 "dominate the game" in the sky. Even though I was only 5 years old in 1999, but thank you for uploading this video and it made me imagine the good old days of aviation before 9/11 and covid changed everything.
naw I think your individual hedonism is why covid 19 and 9/11 are mentioned in a 1999 plane spotting vid
@@thelastword71 because after 9/11 you cant legally film planes in many spots and without cops haressing you
Back in the day the 727 was the workhorse of the industry. By far my favorite jet of all time (current is the A220) and you’d never believe how loud those original 727’s were on takeoff. Very distinct sound at taxi, very similar to the DC-9 and 737-200. I worked Ramp for Southwest when they still flew the 200’s. I miss these days more than I could even tell you…..
747 heaven. Wow.
So little Airbus around. Those were the days
Narita used to be the Asian hub for Northwest airlines back in the 90s.
Fantastic footage. Thanks so much for this!
Northwest / KLM ...cool stuff
A lot of B747! 😍
i miss heavy airplanes
Back in the day when quad jets were more common than twin jets. 747 never fails to impress, majestic!
🙌Yes!
懐かしい。
Totally amazing- just love it. Thank you!!
12:42 this is a rare sight now a days
Old planes are cooler than the newer planes and plus the queen of the skies was thriving at this time
Narita Airport. Many planes take off. That's cool
16:04 Boeing 747 - 200 Garuda Indonesia 💖💖💖
Could. Watch. This. All. Day.
Northwest has best KLM and Northwest Livery
Love it! Times when triple sevens were not so popular... That was a good time to see planes with more than two engines at their heydays. So rare now.... :(
It saddens me how overused twin engines like 777s and A350s are now
@@butteriest1634 yes. They're bored me to no end now... :(
777is king
13:50, I'm thinking this guy was a B-52 pilot... "Imma set this thing down all wheels at the same time..."
Miss the variety of aircraft and those old JAL liveries.
Flew to and through Narita numerous times in my professional career, beginning in '88----destinations Hamamatsu, Taipei, Shanghai. Great memories, great footage!
Huh, I think I still have that Northwest mileage card with some stuff I lifted off that KLM/NW frankenjet
It’s crazy how literally all of the 777s in this video are still flying today alongside 787s and A350s, when they once flew among DC-10s and 747-200s
747’s with Northwest livery brings so much nostalgia.
Oh my God
MD-11 Was Is Will be in my Heart
I LOVE MD-11
Run way action
YOU ARE NUMBER ONE
L1011 was superior tbh
@@high_on_nightmares true that!
The 777-200 at 11:44 just flew SFO-HND on 12/21/22!! What a bucket of bolts!
Took those NWA 744’s to NRT from DTW at least 4 times a year back in the 90’s
Thank you so much, how amazing to watch.
Thanks so much could watch all day absolutely incredible video thanku so much love and god bless x
Always welcome Wendy, thanks for watching!
Seeing those trijets really dates the video. When was the last time I saw one? It’s been a long time. And now, of course, we’re beginning to see fewer 747s, too. Time moves on, and so do our flying machines.
So many DC-10s and 747s
9:24 OMG I LOVE THIS MD-11 TAKEOFF SOUND 😍
So many 747s and DC-10s.
Rare footage of a DC-10 not crashing (2000, colorized)
Cool stuff! thanks for posting.
I really miss the old trijets like MD-11's and DC-10's 😥
The 90s were airliners on steroids. All these tri and quad engine jets. What a time to be alive. All the engines and smog! I love it.
These days just aren’t the same 🥺
Great video thanks brings back a lot of good times we had is Asia in the 1990s thanks J
feels like the whole world had 747s. boeing was seriously cranking out those planes that flew safely for decades. sad to see where they're at now
Nice collection of old heavies and badges. I haven't seen so many DC-10s in years. Used to see quite a few KC-10s about 14 years ago when I lived near KACY in NJ where they would shoot touch & goes mostly from McGuire AFB.
Gold!
Loved it.
Cool, thanks very much!
Those were the days...all jumbo's all the time.
Omg I love this!!
Man I miss the old Lufthansa colours. So iconic.
17:35 OMG~ JAA Naruwan~😍
急におすすめに来たがそれにしても、20年前ってジャンボ機が成田に飛来してた頃なんだな〜
love the old Liveries❤
Flew from SIN with 747 Northwest ( to Portland) and transfered in NRT with another 747 NorthWest to Detroit and then with Mesaba Embraer CRJ ( Northwest Airlink) to Buffalo, as final destination in 1998. Good memories
Iberia 742???? Super rare stuff!!!
Loads and loads of 747's.
Great vídeo beatifull DC10/ MD11 congrulations from São Paulo Brasil
Thank you José!
when the 777 was still a new kid on the block
My first 777 flight was on a Continental plane from IAH-NRT in early 1999. I'd like to think i might have been on that Continental plane they show.
God i wish i was plane spotting bk then. Jumbo Jet heaven. Land of the giants

When the 747s ruled the skies!
All these planes are cool I wonder what it feels to be onboard
DC and 747 golden era 👌
Shocked to see some wing tips back then. My little brain thought they were more recent tech.
Plan beutiful
747 Paradise
Some proper classic heavy metal!
God I love the AA livery😍😍😍😍 (I was born in 1999)
Old designs of plane schemes looked way better back then!
In my opinion at least.
Love all the DC-10s

懐かしいトライスター機じゃあないですか!
19:46 Malaysia airlines a330 in memories ❤❤
Companies back in the day only had Microsoft Word to come up with the font for their logo
I miss tri-jets…
The world's first biracial DC-10!
When MD s weren't only cargo!
