[This is a 4-star video.🌟🌟🌟🌟] Ah, JFK Airport. My home away from home for over 35 years up to 1998 when I moved out of state. Rooftop parking at the Pan Am Worldport was a great place for plane spotting Runway 31L/13R. And that legendary spot on Rockaway Blvd. by Runway 22L was the best. It was colloquially known as Thunder Hill. My father took me there when I was a kid and I've been hooked on Aviation ever since. Great video, thanx for sharing. ✈
Oh yes, i loved that spot too! coming down Springfield blvd. to Rockaway blvd. I wonder if it is still a great spot to planepsot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wow what memories!
I was a refueler at JFK during this time. wow. I remember some of these planes with the specific paint schemes. Only our new trucks had lifts that went high enough to reach 777 service panel. The memories. I was working the day Pam Am shut down.

14:30 Amazingly, the BA 777, G-VIIL, is still active with BA 23 years on. One of the only planes from this video still active. She must’ve been brand new here 🙌🏻
G-VIIL first flight was in February 1998 and then delivered to BA the following month. Assuming the year of the video, 1998, is correct then yes she'd have been brand spanking new here.

That was Pan American Airways. It was founded in 1996 after an investment group including Charles Cobb, the former Ambassador to Iceland, purchased the rights to the venerable Pan American brand after the original carrier declared bankruptcy.
Some brilliant memories of many past airlines and withdrawn aircraft types, my favourite though has to be the BA Concorde and the Laker DC10, one aircraft withdrawn prematurely and one airline grounded by unfair competition and Government intervention.
Was this really filmed in 1998? I’m amazed there’s an pan am plane still there when I’m sure the last flight was in 1991 unless that plane is going in storage
It was a low-cost reincarnation from 96-98. Similar with the Laker aircraft. This was another reincarnation that similarly operated from 96-98 with flights from Florida to Gatwick, Prestwick and Manchester.

Wow........ that was a shocking crash....... so sad to lose that beautiful aircraft........

Great footage lots of memories. So many of those airlines and liveries long gone now.
There really was so much more diversity of planes that flew back then, I miss that.
Those were some years flying. Yes, I miss the 747-200s and the 400s. The DC-10s and L1011s as well.
And flying the 727-200s and seeing the Concordes come in were so nice.
Varig Brasil, I was three years old when she left the line. It was a great airline here in my country Brazil 🇧🇷.
2:15 and 2:30 Air France Concorde
Many of these airlines were long gone by 1998, though. Still fun to watch!
All the airliners of yester-year... Great memories. I lived on the Canarsie approach to JFK, in Brooklyn back in the late 80s early 90s
Man, the AoA on the landing Concorde was something to behold. Crazy when compared to a normal airliner.
Man i miss the Concorde even though i never flew on one. We REALLY need to get back into supersonic commercial airliners again. Especially, in 2021.
They barely got around the tree huggers in the 70’s, just not gonna happen in 2021
It spewed out a ton of smoke. If only we can develop the tech that can make it burn fuel cleaner
There might be a new one soon, there is a company called Boom which is developing one without afterburners so it will be much more efficient
