  • 80 Minutes pure aviation, today with classic planes only. I am mainly interested in classic planes and that` s why I always drive to various airports in my area, when a classic plane is expected. I even drove five hours to Stuttgart when a Douglas DC-8 visited the Airport two years ago. You can also expect other interesting classic planes in this video like a Vickers VC10, L1011 Tristar, Boeing 707 and some classic Tupolevs and Ilyushins. You should definitly turn up the volume to hear and enjoy the sound of these classic jetliners.
    The VC10 departed at Brize Norton in 2011. It was one of my first videos, filmed handheld with my old Canon 5DMarkII. Of course it´s a bit shaky but the sound of the VC10 is just amazing. Beautiful plane and it was a pleasure to see and hear this classic plane a few times. Just after the VC10 departed a Lockheed Tristar landed and I filmed the touch and go training session a few times.
    Also note the amazing sound of the TU154 and the Ilyushin IL62 of Rada Airways which I was able to film multiple times at Liege and Maastricht. The Rada IL62 was one of the last active IL62` s worldwide and they operated a few cargo charter flights two years ago.

      I clearly recall an RAF Lockheed Tristar L-1011 Airborne Tanker zooming across the skies, flying low over Wembley as it returned from a fly past over Buckingham Palace in Central London.
      It wasn’t noisy at all…!!!
      It was almost like a ghost flitting over West London and from my point of view, hugging the horizon as it flew in the direction of RAF Northolt.
      Beautiful aircraft

    Why do the CFM56 engines on the DC-8-70 (and the KC-135R) look so huge, when the same engines look so tiny on an A340-300? They must have a much smaller fan diameter

    • @jonathanmayor3942
      @jonathanmayor3942 9 месяцев назад +1

      Your comparing a wide body with a standard body so the engines look smaller because everything else on the 340 is bigger or the other way around the wing and plane is smaller on the dc8 don’t forget they are around the same size as current 737/757
