I rode on many DC-10's in the 80s and early 90s as a kid. Seeing that MD-11 (7:05) was a great reminder of the past. American Airlines DC-10's were fun.
Not as hard as to be a pilot for me. At the beginning i tried to be a pilot, but it was too scary for me, even with a C172. My first solo was a bad day :). But now i enjoy my work a lot and im very happy. Nice to see your comment and thanks for hande them.
Next to the 747, the Md11 is the one plane I’ve had pilots say was their most favorite plane to pilot. I know they are ‘outdated’ but I miss them, don’t see too often anymore. Seems like most pilots really compliment that particular plane
I like your video's very much! It's very interesting to learn and see what kind of airplanes there are and how they landing!! :-) :-D Thank you for that!! :-) :-D
I was there just last year and I remember nothing about what this airport looks like. Customs was pretty blah, I do remember that, lol. I'm guess it was the 14 hour flight from Dallas that caused my amnesia. But going home...the JAL lounge was top notch!
We decided at the last minute (literally the check in counter) that it was totally worth spending $200 per ticket to upgrade to premium economy for our flight home. You never really understand what a few extra inches and a leg rest is worth until you've taken 13+ hour flights 😂. But it also got us access to the lounge and it was very nice!
If you ever flew into Kai Tak in a 747 you will know how the folks on these aircraft feel as the flight crew do what they have to do. Knowing when to break off is important. Knowing that your flight deck crew supports your decision is very important. Knowing that your company won't penalize go-arounds (Southwest) is extremely important. All the flight deck personnel handled their situations professionally. No lives were lost, no metal was bent. Just hope that the crew flying up front on your next trip is just as competent as these folks are.
@@loub747 My landing was in 1983 on my honeymoon with Northwest Orient. Very professional. Some passengers were upset. It was the wildest ride I have ever had in a heavy.
Latabrine I appreciate the sub! Fair warning, most of my videos are about finding snakes, yeah, snakes. I put up flying videos occasionally when I see something cool. Thanks again. Lou
Just some useless trivia: the Mongolian aircraft around 4:30 sports on the tail the markings of Borussia Dortmund football club from Germany, which partnered with the airline for the Mongolian market.
Hello Lou, actually I subscribed your channel for your amazing snake and wildlife videos. But this one was really amazing, too. And not just because of the artistic landings. At 4:19 there is an aircraft with "some kind of yellow markings on the tail". These markings are nothing else but the crest of a famous German soccer club: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borussia_Dortmund But I really don't know anything about the reference of this club to the Mongolian Airline. A true mystery ;-)
4:41 Whoa!! He just about did a total nose dive there!! That was scary !!! LouB747 I LIKE your videos and I'm thrilled to have a new plane spotting channel to watch. !! Just found your channel and I love the narration...although I'm sure you get smart a$$es who want you to shut up, but *I thank you very much*. And thanks for braving the cold and wind for us. Man...I'd be freaking out if I was on ANY one of those planes. Too scary for me!!! o_O Happy New Year to you~ And I'm happy new sub #507. :D *EDIT* OMIGOSH I just went to your channel and you have more snakes there than planes!!!!!!! And I am even MORE afraid of snakes!! lol hehehe But looking forward to you shooting video of more planes, and if you do, I'm sure I'm not the only appreciative one!!! Thanks again :D
Thanks so much for watching, subbing, and taking the time to comment. Yeah, a little flat at 4:41! Most my channel is snake related, but I do have a small and growing "flying" section. The HB Airshow video turned out pretty good I think. Thanks again.
Thanks. Something different. Hard to find snakes in December. Not even a possibility in Tokyo. I will go out next week after the rains here in SoCal though!
I might be going to a few board lines next weekend after the rain! Weather conditions have been surprising good lately and I turned up a king snake a few days ago which was my first ever December snake so I was stoked! Good luck man, I hope you find some snakes!
Thanks so much! I fly for Nippon Cargo (20 years) Polar before that. Just a heads up, a lot of my videos are about finding snakes, yeah, snakes. A lot of those videos have scenes from the cockpit in them, like this one. Hope you like em..... ruclips.net/video/2SaWkF-OOD8/видео.html
SimisioLP thanks so much. I used a Sony AX53. Shot in 4K. The "floating" lens makes it a little tough to stay on a moving subject at times. Thanks again. Sorry for the late reply.
Surprised the Eva Air 773 spoilers didn't deploy at touchdown. What is the logic for deployment ? That was a positice touchdown for sure. (Not a bounce) They maybe forgot to arm them ?
Not sure on the 777. On the 747, even if you forget to arm them, they will deploy when you pull reverse. I'll have to watch that landing again....the spoilers do stow if you power up (for instance a go around after touchdown).
Actually I was wrong. Looking again this was not a positive touchdown as the front bogey didn't touch the ground before the plane went up. And so probably the spoilers didn't deploy even if armed. I leaning to the go around before touchdown due long floating then touchdown shorly during G/A scenario.
Bennewman11 yeah, I fly 747s. I’ve flown the 747 for about 25 years. I made a cockpit video that went viral. Google Airdrop 777 and I’m sure you’ll find it. Anyways, the airline wasn’t too happy about it, so I don’t really Video from the cockpit anymore.
it was so funny i took the UA flight in July of this year and after we took off there was a young mom who sit beside of me asked me are other airlines' engines as noisy as this..... @@... i was very surprised because she didn't seem be a first time flyer and she said she only took UA flights before in her life.... I said yes, all other air crafts are the same noisy and the engines better to be noisy in sky otherwise we will be in trouble.... lol and after that i was wondering if she will ask me later how to open the window to get some fresh air!!!!! lol
A normal go around in gear up, along with some flaps. A windshear go around is gear down and flaps remain. The initial gear retraction actually causes more drag as the gear doors open. Therefore, the configuration is left until clear of the shear.
I rode on many DC-10's in the 80s and early 90s as a kid. Seeing that MD-11 (7:05) was a great reminder of the past. American Airlines DC-10's were fun.
Yeah, miss the 10s. Great airplane.
Nice shots of the 777-300ER, they land so gracefully despite their gargantuan size!
A pilot who does plane spotting lol cool
Yeah, I enjoy watching a few gusty arrivals. Good times.
Great with commentary. That MD 11 fed ex was beautiful
im an aerospace engineer and thats what makes me feel excited. These machines can do it.
I feel lucky to get to fly them. Thanks for all your hard work.

Good Stuff !! Really Enjoy YOU calling out the aircraft type. Helps me learn how to identify the different types. Thx again! 👌🏼
Thank you. It's my pleasure
Frankly the A330 is the nicest, most gracious bird out there with a nice nose up attitude all the way down
Enjoyed your narration on the types of planes!
Thanks. Wasn’t sure about doing it.
Cool footage Lou. Love seeing the go arounds especially 747s. I expect there will be a lot of focus going on doing them.
Fantastic video, fantastic channel. I enjoy the aviation content as much as the reptiles, wonderful! Thanks Lou!
Robson thanks so much. A couple of new videos coming soon. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

BEAUTIFUL LANDINGS
The one you didn't attempt to pronounce (Xiamen) is pronounced "Shamun".
Yeah, realize that now....and I fly for a living. Go figure! Thanks.
I was in Narita on a lay over, and could see the airport from the hotel room. Many go-arounds.
Yeah, when the strong SW winds blow, it gets interesting!

Why not travel many days ? Japan has many attractive places.
I like your video's very much! It's very interesting to learn and see what kind of airplanes there are and how they landing!! :-) :-D Thank you for that!! :-) :-D
Thanks so much. I’ll try and put out a few more flying videos.
4:35 who disguised that Ryanair 737 as a Mongolian 737?
At least Ryanair's landings are among the safest in the industry. That Mongolian 737 did a plop.
Nothing to do with Ryanair. The Mongolian (which has full Mongolian reg) is a partner of Borrusia Dortmund football team hence the BVB 09 tail.
Like the commentating, not too much, just right. Lots of Borussia Dortmund fans in Mongolia, I see.
Thanks so much. I have a newer video....

Thanks so much. I’ll try and do a few more of these.

Yeah, the airport is nothing special, that’s for sure. Haven’t been in the JAL lounge.

Yeah, definitely worth it on a long flight. Especially on non US Airlines. Money well spent.
1:47 longest float I've seen yet
Great video! Enjoyed the FedEx MD-11, I really do not want to see that aircraft be retired.
Central PA Spotter thanks so much. Yeah, the MD11 is a cool looking bird for sure. Nice nose high attitude on approach.
Lol Death at Narita
Thanks for sharing this!
It’s my pleasure.
Spectacular Compilation! Well done buddy :)
YQBspotting thanks so much for the kind words. Haven't really done airplane spotting videos before. It was a lot of fun.
Nice landings!!
Yeah, a few good ones in there!
Astonishing footage mate
Thanks so much.
Thanks Capt. Awesome crosswind landings. Although not as good as Air Busan and Air Canada 😄😄.
Thanks. Yeah, doesn't compare to those two!
Them A's and their rigid wings seem so awkward in crosswinds. Nose all over the place.
You sure? The EVA 777 and Air China A330 both did greaser landings.

Yeah, I’ve been flying the 747 for 25 years. Just because it’s big, people think it’s always smooth. Definitely not the case. A lot of wing out there.
Just found you!
Just subbed!

Nice vid! I was there that day too 😁
MadridSpotter thanks. I was the only non Japanese guy there I think. Maybe I'll run into you next time.
I was there with another Spanish guy when the MD11 departed, near sunset, and I did see the EVA go around xD
The 737 with blue tail & a duck on it is Xiamen Airlines, i guess
Yeah, maybe. I'd have to watch it again. Thanks Lou B
É impressão minha ou a maioria das aeronaves pousaram sem FULL FLAP.

FedEx nailed that landing!
That he did.
WOW! Incredible! loved it :D
AviationUpclose thanks so much.
hey at 4:27 that mongolian airlines plane had a german soccer team logo on it.
Didn't notice that.
wow.thats.beutiful
Thanks. Have a few other flying videos on my channel if you’re interested
love seeing the Boeing aircraft in flight! Scarebus not so much! it was windy as they were crabbing pretty good on approach!
Lol, I fly Boeing, but like watching Airbus too. Good times in Narita on a strong SW wind. I have better videos of it on my channel.
Which airline do you fly for on the 747?
Just discovered your channel, great photography, good commentary. What airline do you fly for. Just subbed as well

awesome clips... how was your approach with the queens of the skies...?
Thanks. It wasn't too bad really. The queen usually handles it pretty well.

Everyone onboard feels the effects, but none so much as the pilot.
Do you ever shoot from the end of the runway? That would be interesting to watch as they come towards the cam.
Hard to find an airport with that setup. I do like that view though!
What camera did u use?
Seb Aviation Sony AX53 camcorder.
is japan airline still maintain at 4000ft ?
I know, right. One of those days.
Do you use flightradar24? It would tell you the aircraft info.
Yeah, I didn’t have cell service, so didn’t have any info. That’s changed, and my more current flying videos include it.
Show de Aeronave
parabéns pelo Vídeo!
I’m not sure of the airline... x50
Come on Mr pilot. Brush up on your airline recognition skills. I recognise these from the nose on shots. Only joking - great video !
LOL. Looking through the small viewfinder makes it tough! Good times..
What kind do you fly?
I fly 747s. 747-8 only now.
is it dangerous for go around? narita is always windy,,,,,
Better to go around than land if you aren't stable. Not always windy, but when it blows out of the SW, it gets interesting.
that's great
Aftab Sheikh thanks so much.
why gear up go around
It's standard procedure for a wind shear go around.
Are you really a pilot? I never see you in the flight deck?
Bennewman11 yeah, I fly 747s. I’ve flown the 747 for about 25 years. I made a cockpit video that went viral. Google Airdrop 777 and I’m sure you’ll find it. Anyways, the airline wasn’t too happy about it, so I don’t really Video from the cockpit anymore.

A normal go around in gear up, along with some flaps. A windshear go around is gear down and flaps remain. The initial gear retraction actually causes more drag as the gear doors open. Therefore, the configuration is left until clear of the shear.
never land in croseewind before.... looks scary.....
Yeah, it has it's bad days. I put up a Windshear video from there....you might enjoy that one.
hell eva landing
Exactly!
r u air japan pilot??? it looke like NRT cargo spot
Must give pilots the pucker factor on a windy day.
It adds a bit of stress. Lots of holding. Fuel concerns. Etc.
LouB747,You also like EVA Air, right?
Yeah, I like em all.
WHY THESE PLANES COME IN SIDEWAYS?????
IM TERRIFIED
i'm caps terrified.
Eva Air won
So much money
You don't know all of the Chinese Airlines !
lol, I don't. Too many new ones popping up!
LouB747 you should know CZ CA MU,and also there was MF
Thumbs down due to narration.
Can't please everyone.
