    I love his energy. Been a big fan of Justin’s for a while, however I never knew how his style translated. Being a wedding videographer for 7 years. There are some great take aways for me and things I can implement. The out of the box thinking with gear, lighting, headsets, and Audio is something that really opened my eyes to how he does things. Biggest takeaway is him controlling the light, and him not settling for the norm is amazing. Second takeaway would be how he keeps track of the story. Which is crucial.
    I think his techniques can translate easily in everyone’s style. The only thing that can’t be copied is him. HIs energy and how he interacts with his couples is amazing.
    Matt thank you for making such an awesome Behind the Scenes film. I’ve been excited to watch this video for awhile. I felt like I was there working with Justin on the day. This video opened up my eyes what I could be doing more for my wedding clients in the future.

    As an experienced wedding videographer, this is mind blowing. This set up is the kind of thing you would do if you asked yourself "what would I need to do to create the best possible wedding film?" - the amount of audio and time syncs gives me major anxiety haha - controlling the lighting at the reception is next level! I wonder if Justin gets any resistance from wedding venues and even DJ's who like their own lighting? - I assume this is part of the consulting process when booking? I've also always found it hard matching colours with different camera manufacturers, so this is also interesting. Justin is definitely next level, and it is inspiring to take a few hints here and there to improve my own end product. Story telling at its finest.

      DJ's here in my area hate whenever videographers setup 1-2 lights on the dance floor. Surprised the DJ here was cool about him setting up his own uplights

      @pureheartvisuals 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@chronocross85 as a Cinematographer, no disrespect to the DJ but visually these Clients are expecting the very best visually from these Wedding Films. The outcome is all about controlling light to work best for the Cameras Output.
      Although I understand DJs have to have a competitive edge of the competition. But It shouldn’t be an insult to the Music Director of the Event if a splash of Color is taken away.
      I use 4 to 6 lights very strategically (of course not just blasting the area but more for mood and feeling). Again it’s all about balance without short changing the Products we are all giving the Client on their once in a lifetime day. If done properly, should be promoting ALL of US as top Vendors hopefully leading to future Business.

    • @ToddBangz
      @ToddBangz Месяц назад

      From the time of booking, I make my best effort to obtain a full vendor list so I can personally reach out and share expectations between all vendors that would be directly impacted or a beneficiary of that joint assignment. This way the DJ know's who I am and that I'm coming with my bag of tricks. Not overly concerned about how they feel about it in a negative aspect because we both work for the client. If I bring lights, mics, uplights etc the client has foreknowledge of my offerings as will the DJ and venue know. Should they forget... It's showtime regardless. We in da building at that point haha.

    It boggles my mind now much effort he puts into his work. It’s on a completely different scale and playing field than everyone else.

    Very cool behind the scenes for new creatives to watch. Wish I had this kind of material when I was young. I learned from books I bought at Barnes & Noble while using gear that was 20 times lesser quality. Gear today does half the work for you. Thanks to Justin for opening himself up and revealing his style.
    Personal opinion:
    I admire your passion and commitment, but working this way and you will want to retire before you turn 45. I remember my first five years doing photography. I showed up like Comando with a tank full of gear. You learn to find balance as you get older without sacrificing the emotions or your joints. My only advice for him is to be mindful of his stress levels and back. Two essentials for every wedding.
    I'm also curious what the investment was for this experience and where you got your headsets? Name brand?

    I dont know if I will go as hardcore on the gear department as Justin, but my biggest takeaway here is the soundbites and the audio. Everyones so obsessed and the latest lenses and camera gear but a good wedding videographer invests in good audio. Its honestly waaay too overkill for my style, but I love seeing the other end of the spectrum and grabe bits and pieces from JPM’s unconventional wedding style, as someone whose familiar with the Filipino wedding videography system for 7 years. And dont get me started on Justin’s passion, its so electric and watching this the night before two wedding gigs is a great night cap! Hope to see more BTS from other filmmakers too! Loved seeing you both in one video. 👌

    The thing that always jars with me about filmmakers like this is that they're spending all this money on gear for lighting, various high end cameras etc. But then they're using a 24-70 2.8 photography lens. If you've got that many cameras, use some primes, use some cine lenses, use some vintage lenses. Bring some character to the work.

    • @cascade9584

      was thinking that too and the counterargument I came up with in my head was that those photography zooms offer versatility (of course there are cine zooms) and it would be ballsy running a set of primes. but yeah the setup is so impressive down to the codec and then the images look like... that. I guess this setup is more geared towards capturing moments and content and Justin is clearly thinking story the whole time, which seems to be working for him lmao but I think it could be hard to do that and then ALSO focus on creating really beautiful images

    nice BTS! Justin is pretty much setting new boundaries for what's possible in a wedding film and I love it!
    To answer your question in terms of unique style:
    see if you can film Henry Martens, le Reve, Adam Grumbo, film and flourish, or Gione da silva!

    -pull the story out! interview the guests
    -the semi circle toast idea
    -force the high energy
    -ask and you shall receive
    -lighting
    -have fun!

    I’m not a huge fan of making the wedding day a production, but damn he’s good at what he does. There’s def couples that want that and he pulls it off 100%
    You two are a sick duo
