I like the fact that you make reference to things you’ve learned from other creatives, it’s always a learning curb when creating wedding videos.
Everything I do I can usually attribute in someway to a creator I love
This editor definitely deserves a raise 🤣🤣🤣
i am not a hater, but i see no reason. Nothing above the average.
“I’m not a hater… but”

@@stranahan07 do you understand means "hater"?
One thing you can always tell when someone is a pro, they don’t make wedding videos with a filter/odd looking LUT. The colours are real, vibrant, like the day looked.
Nice job guys 👌
Aye I appreciate you my guy! LUTs are like anything - a tool to give your footage a certain look. Some people use them incredibly well, some don’t
This is beautiful! I’m a solo shooter and I really love how you share your vision and ideas for specific shots. So many things to learn from this.
Wow!!! Thanks so much Jake & Nate, this was such an experience, felt like I was shadowing you on the day 🙌
the way you do things is so unique. making sure you're in each others way from the dj and the photographer is just so great.
This was a great video. Thank you for spending the time to make it. I’ve been shooting weddings for several years now and even with my experience I can’t imagine filming a wedding and a BTS video simultaneously. Well done!
So much great value in this, thank you for the time you all took to share and put this together for all of us! Big fan from 🇨🇦 💯
dude the depth tip with the chandeliers... golden nugget tip. love it!
Love it. Sensational work Jake
I get the most value from these kinds of videos. Thank you
Awesome to see your perspective on this and see you with the same mindset as myself during the day. I’ve shot 95% of the weddings solo over the last 8 years. It’s always a plus to have a second if I can but you can still create amazing films if you are prepared and allow yourself the time in the day.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks for your efforts. You inspire.
wow !!! absolutely amazing job, I loved every single minute if this video, valueble content !
Beautiful, I’m a solo shooter myself; love the “focus” on A Role first method, definitely stealing that concept 👏
So awesome Jake!
I am not a wedding videographer, and I usually wouldn't even be moved at all to comment..........but dude.....that was B E A U T I F U L. In every way. You are a talented, talented editor and filmer Jake, and more importantly you have a vision. That was absolutely amazing.
Wow, making me cry over here. Thanks for the kind words and for taking time out of your day to watch this silly job shadow. Thank you!
Loved this job shadow! Thanks for the video Jake and Nate!! I always love learning from you!
Thank you Riley ❤
Awesome! I really enjoyed watching
We need more content like this from Runaway! Well done boys
what I really liked is how you shot the the first look, and just stuck the a roll. Perfect. Your totally right if your moving around too much during the shot out would have been messed up
Exceptional quality insights !
phenooooooomenal, truly incredible and great insights. From being attentive, being honest, informing us about the wedding industry and lifting other creatives. Amazing
Appreciate you 🎉
Pure masterclass ♥
love your work bro! following you for quite a while...its a beautiful moment watching you work
This was awesome. Love your work guys
Thanks Jake! This was so helpful, definitely looking at capturing future weddings with all this advice in mind 👌
Been a fan of you, Jake, for a few years now. Learned a lot from this video!! There are many points in the video that can also be useful in covering events, not just weddings. Thank you, Jake!
Thanks for the love!!
Please more videos like this/ solo shooters. Needed this🙏🏼❤️ appreciate your content
there is so much value in this video. Wow. Good work Jake, love seeing the behind the scenes work and see how you communicate with everyone!
And props to Nate too! He killed it
appreciate you!
Am so happy for you bro...... I lov your work....
I absolutely love your mindset. I started shooting weddings last year and the more I thought about it, the more my mindset shifted from shooting a highlight video, to shooting a documentary. Even if you make a highlight video out of it, you're still shooting a documentary film, albeit a short one (Unless they bought the expensive package). After discovering Justin Porter and having my beliefs verified, and now hearing it come from you, I'm certain that's the right mindset. I'm trying to get into the Art of Documentary to level up my game
This was a recommended video and now I’m just upset I haven’t come across you sooner. This was awesome brotha. Look forward to watching all your past videos now. New subscribers!!
Loved that🤩
beautiful!!
Sheeeeeesh amazing as I start my career in wedding videography this video shown me a lot! Have one wedding under the belt with more to come in the next few months
hope you could soon share the full vid. 🙂🙂🙂 love it ! learned a lot .. thank you .🙂

Jake I'm speechless man, the quality in the trailer is unthinkable. Good job guys! Can't wait for more content. Greetings from Malawi.

Love these - learn so much. More pls ha.
More on the way!!
Brilliant! Subscribed.
I've been in the wedding photography/videography business for 12 years now and I shoot solo 90% of the time. During a wedding, I do have my 21yr old daughter help me with one stationary camera during the ceremony while I have three more cameras recording. Two are stationary and I have one on a gimbal. All the b roll and money shots are shot exclusively by me. To me it's super easy and I've been successful at it. BTW, the weddings I shoot are often huge with big ranch settings and minimum 300 guests. Last November I shot a wedding with 700 guests.
😮Do you mind sharing your processes.
@@avsnj I shoot 95% catholic latino weddings. My wife is the photographer and I shoot video. We both work the entire day starting during morning prep until 9pm.
I work video alone during the morning, after the ceremony, before the reception activities. My 21yr old daughter helps me with one camera on a tripod during the ceremony and evening activities. All my drone shots, b roll and money shots are shot by me and me alone. I film with 4 cameras during the ceremony and reception.
I've worked this way since I started in 2011. It's really not that hard and not that stressful since I'm so used to it. I have shot entire weddings all by myself in a few occasions, especially small weddings. I've been told before that I can't deliver good work because of lack of help but I've been doing it for years and my business continues to thrive.
Kudos to you and more kudos to the editor
@@emmykayemmanuel3987 Thank you, I do both, film and edit my work.
Hello Jorge, I am 24 years old and I love this job, but I don't know how to get a job, can you help me?
I love the trailer! You were able to get some amazing shots with the c70
my eyes lit up when you said "it'll be hidden this time" lol 18:52
Nice job!
Cool !
Great Video!!
YES!!! I'm your thousandth subscriber!
Good job man
Thru the solo lens 👀 whatta vibe!
Appreciate you 🔥
great trailer!!
Holy shit Jake. WTF. 10/10 Explanations.Final Video came out AMAZING!! Definitely see why you're one of the best!
Wow thank you so much 🔥
amazing edit
This is an awesome video!
You’re awesome!
Wow this was an amzing video, and it a great look into a solo shoot of a wedding. My brother has asked me to shoot at his wedding and I've never done one before so it will be a lot. I don't have multiple cams but I know ill do my best and as you said never miss out on the important parts cause I know ill want to get all the creative shots.
This is Amazing, truly a masterpiece!!! How did expose your footage without it being blown out without a ND filter I'm complexed loool. Your footage looks so clean!!!
As soon as I saw the kid run into the bg of that shot- I said exactly what Jake said 10 seconds later 😂😂
I can’t handle it 😂
Great video
Wao, best film look wedding video I have ever seen Jake. Thanks for creating and sharing this video, look amazing video pal. Learned a lot from you friend. Thank you !😍
Thank you!!
we will be loving you doing wedding vlogs in this channel it will also increase frequency of video becoz we love your video
Qué buen trabajo, y no negaré que el truco del final estuvo a la altura.
Hey great video!!! Lovely results. I’m new subscriber :)
Greetings from Peru
awesome work ethics 🔥🔥 tip of the day for me: “you can always crop in you can’t crop out” appreciate you bro.
Jake if you needed a second you could have just texted me
quick drive to SLC
@@runawayvows good work sir...... How will I get the that mic for the nikon camera
I like the style of this vid. Felt like the old days of FTF, when you really felt the passion and comedy of Jake haha I solo shoot all my weddings but I currently prefer to bring a second camera 70-200 on a tripod with AF for everything. You would be surprised how much more you capture. Creates a lot more work but better to have it then not lol
Gotta love kids at weddings 🫢
I think you and I are on the same page here Matthew
I wish you success in your new channel. I support you my friend. I hope you get a successful channel. My heart is in favor of this. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Learned so much from this BTS. Thank you! Can I ask what were the settings for your unmanned side cameras during the ceremony? Manual focus? And f-stop? Thanks!
Usually set the focus and then switch it to manual! F stop was probably 2-4 somewhere in there!
Love this video! Where do you get your music for your wedding trailers and films? It sounds great!
Musicbed! The link is in the description!!
@@JakeWeislerLegend! Thanks 🙏🏼
Really cool video. I loved your interactions with everyone while you were working. What advice would you have for someone starting out? The closest thing is this field I've done so far is photography for baptisms, however I'm a hybrid shooter so I can shoot whichever format. Kind of entertaining video a bit more.
GET CONTENT. If you want to book weddings, go film some of your friends running through a field in love. Show couples what you can do for them. And build relationships with vendors!
This is very informative especially to someone like me who just about to dive into videography wedding! Question though, why do you always press your screen whenever there's a moment? Does that mean you do manual focus instead of auto focus? Thankyou so much! :)
Mixed light is my literal nemesis. It’s so difficult to edit out, and I can’t just shoot everything in black-and-white lol
Fantastic video Jake, sooo informative! Could I ask what PP you shot in, also what PP would you recommend for the Sony FX3 for these type of videos weddings/corperate? Thanks
Just SLOG3, PP8 I think!
Great video Jake! I personally love shooting solo. I always get plenty of coverage and I'm really happy with how my final films turn out. I only have two cameras (both a7S III's) so I do wish I had a few more cams to set up during the ceremony/reception but I also don't want to have a giant kit to lug around all day. Part of me is tempted to stop offering ceremony/reception edits. Just stick to highlight videos and then maybe upsell a full-day edit which will just have basic 2-cam edits of the ceremony/reception. Do you think it's possible to only offer highlight videos?? I think I just have trust issues and I don't feel like going through the trouble of finding second shooters 😅
I think everyone should always offer ceremony edits! And you can easily do that with 2 cameras. Put one camera in the back, zoomed in on the couple and officiant for the whole ceremony!
Can you link your tripod ?
Hi brother assaali from Kenya Mombasa Africa always love your videos brother im learning from you so much i love to join your team
Wonderful video buddy..!! 🔥🤓 One can clearly see the amount of effort that has gone into this. Really appreciate the effort.
Could you please tell me how did you record your C70 screen live? I'm guessing the settings would have have been added in yhe post but how did you record your C70's screen?
What do you mean? I don’t think I ever show my C70 screen! We just overlaid the final and shrunk it into the bottom corner
This is was good, I appreciate the BTS. What do you deliver to the couple?
The film we posted on our channel! Plus a 60 second trailer which is at the end of this video and a handful of reels
Do you have a link/list of the gear you tend to use for Weddings? These shots are BANGERS!!
This is some decent work. Not bad.
thank you!
"I'd crank my shutter to 4000 that's how much I don't care" 🤣
Recently it’s been 8000 lolol
I really appreciate this video, it’s truly a job shadow!
Did you post the link to the tripod kit, I don’t see it?
Thanks!
Sorry just put it in the description!
@@JakeWeisler Thanks!
Amazing! For the trailer at the end, are those push-ins done solely in post? Love that effect.
Mostly yeah!
I always use actioncams as safety cameras during a solo weeding shoot. I then clamp and hide them in several places. Especially for emotions in the audience, which I often miss on my own, when I am alone. ( Sure, the look is different, but at the end of the day, all that matters is that you have the moment). That's why I try to work with an assistant, especially during the main ceremony (whether church or free wedding ceremony). Because it's often the case that the preparations of the groom and bride and the ceremony happen in quick succession. So the assistant can prepare the ceremony with the cameras and sound. Much less stress. If I don't have a professional as an assistant, I still try to take someone with me for this time (student, neighbor, friend) to help with this one hour.
I love the little tascam devices. I have 6 of them and using them as backup devices during the wedding. Sometimes it happens that a microphone does rustle on the jacket, then something happens to the handheld microphones and the sound doesn't reach the speakers. There's always something :D I usually give one to the groom, sometimes to the bride (white tascam) if the dress allows it, to the officiant/pastor, to the guests who speak, one is connected to the audio output from the DJ and then depending on the location
But a very good video that shows why wedding filming is so incredibly demanding and you have to be very flexible and, above all, know your gear 100 percent perfectly (recording length, temperature, focus, etc.)
Great tutorial. What is the sticky thing called you said to hide the lavs on the jacket?
Bubblebees!
Great content !!
Why did you choose to shoot in 23.97 ? and not in 50/60 ?
Are you never thinking " maybe I should get a slowmotion somewhere"
I assume it's for the Shutter and the aputure to stay as bride as possible, but maybe there is another reason?
Editor did Jake dirty at 2:03
Firing him rn
@@JakeWeisler 😂
That part destroyed me! 😂😂
@@faraikativu4959 😂😂
Great video! Quick question. What do you set your aperture to for the groom reaction cam? Even with posing someone where you think the groom is going to be standing, if he is shifted either way slightly that could (obviously) impact focus accuracy. Just curious of your workflow here!
Usually between 2.8 or 4! Not typically too worried about. I check the cam RIGHT before the brides comes down. Usually there's some time between the flower girls and the bride
@@JakeWeisler perfect, makes sense!
Wow, this in nice
I think you did great man, very calm and collected. If and when people come up to you and try to tell you what to shoot, how do you respond?
I graciously oblige haha
how do you plan for your shoots, especially for bring gear to a wedding? Ian
Awesome BTS, thanks for this! Absolutely awesome
One thing that bothers me is the DJ. How does someone who (I'm assuming from this context) DJs many weddings and doesn't have a way the videographer can plug into his system.
This is a normal request from any videographer. So I can't understand why they don't have an option for you
Thanks again
Nah we love this DJ, he's the man. His job isn't to make sure vendors can do their job. We should be able to do our job without interfering with his system, which we did perfectly! Who knows, maybe some idiot videographer one time ruined his board and he now never lets them plug in.
I noticed you shoot everything on gimbal. What are your thoughts on handheld?
did you switch from canon to sony after this video?
Can you share your thoughts on why you one hand gimbal shots? And just different techniques for the gimbal handling?
Genuinely don’t feel like you need two hands all the time to be honest!
nice bro
Ohh... It feels like so calm to shoot weddings there.. here ini India it's a rush story😢😅
Would you suggest techni color cinestyle or magic lanterrn or canon neutral color profile settings for canon camera that doesn't have a log profile for easier color adjustments in post-production or the standard color profile is fair
I would just do neutral!
