I don't know how you put up with the "cheesiness" (?) of all this weddings but I LOVE your work and how much you put into these videos! Forever thankful✌️
The most important tip we can pick up from this is how to direct the bride/groom. That's the skill that will let someone graduate from being the second shooter to getting their own jobs.
I like how you helped make it fun for them while being sure you got the shot you wanted.

dang, the prism trick during the make-up getting ready at 6:51 and the back up recorder on the mic at the reception at 17:43 are really, REALLY good tips. Awesome info. And the dance floor light you can adjust from your phone tip at 20:14 jeez this video is full of great advice.

I at almost halfway the video. Qhat picture profile did you shoot the indoors in?? They look so good.. its not slog cause the iso is 200? Was it cine 4 or cine 2 or just no pp (With any modifications in creative)?? Btw Love youe videos matt. Keep them coming!!

Great BTS, Matt, as always! Just one question - how do you get your handheld shots that smooth without any stabilization? No OIS, no IBIS, gimbal or a monopod!

Hi! Cool video. I notice that one of your cameras are recording 30fps and the other 24. Are you going to slow down the 30fps to 24 to get a little smoother look? Will such a small change make any difference? Thx! Enjoyed the video 🙏

Matt thank you for another amazing video! how do you get the colors to match so well even though you're using different lenses? I have an A7SIII, A7RIII and A7III Sigma art 50mm, Tamron 28-75, Tamron 17-28 and two Sony 70-200s and the images on all three cameras are completely different based on what lens I put on!! I'm still new to wedding films so im not confident enough to be using Picture profiles like s-log etc because im scared myself and my second wont be exposing properly and ruin the footage? any tips on how to make the colors consistent for a good base on my cameras?

I follow Scott McKenna, wedding film school, Kraig Adams. Tyler Herrington, Ray Roman, Gear Glasses and Gadgets and several others. These are all mainly wedding videography content creators and educators on youtube. They are all very good and informative channels, but, if you are wanting to learn from the best educator, communicator, very bright videographer, then Matt Johnson has them all beat hands down. I am a 20 + year videographer and Matt is the best of them all. I just wanted to put this out there. I do not know Matt but if I was wanting to hire a videographer, he would be my first choice. If you have not subscribed to his channel, I suggest you do so right now. You will not regret it.

Is there a good reason to shoot 30p mixed with 24p for getting ready shots. Very curious!

Great to see the BTS - thanks for that. I noticed you sometimes film at 24fps and sometimes 30, I was just wondering if there was a specific reason for doing that?
He does that so he can slow the 30 down to 24 for a dreamy affect. 24 for anything where someone is talking and he needs to match the audio.

Okay I got a question.
How is it that every wedding you do seems to run so smooth and the couples are so cool?
I know you’ve been doing this for years and charge way more so you get better clientele, but I’ve shot a couple weddings and it’s always something. Like how do you deal with things not going right or not working right?
Every wedding I’ve shot. Something has always been a problem. I dream of the days of stuff running this smoothly.
Simple answer: FilmStrong is Expensive. When you charge $4k-$6k or more for every wedding you get brides who also pay a lot for wedding planners/coordinators. When ALL vendors are pros and know what they’re doing scheduling is a breeze.
But also, things will always go wrong and be rushed sometimes. Gotta just adapt and conquer. 🤷🏼♂️
good planning and preparation ahead is the key. Prepare every detail in what stuff and when to set up. These are time consumers

Hi Matt. My a7sii can't go lower than ISO 1600 when I'm shooting in SLOG3. Any idea how to change that?

Matt please help me. I just received my a7siii. I have been trying to reassign the movie record button on the top of the camera to the C1 or any button on the back of the camera. Is this possible?
