Solid video dude, but one area I think you should have touched on is the assembly and disassembly of each cart. I know you mentioned you're a fan of the Yeager cart that bolts the handle and wheels but the reality is that most people buying these carts are traveling with them and that's why these carts have to have parts with easy assembly that just bolt on. This is where I feel Inovativ really is far superior than all the other carts and it's not even close. I have friends who have these carts and transport them in small cars because everything breaks down so perfect because they've methodically engineered all their parts to fit inside the cart and easily assemble and breakdown fast. There's a reason why you see them in so many Hollywood sets and large productions and also why they cost what they do because they're the best. Don't get me wrong, the Yeager cart (which I've also used) is solid but it's not intuitive, doesn't' have the ecosystem that Inovativ carts do and also is much heavier than probably every single cart you showed. I think the cart that surprised me the most was the Smallrig one, I feel it has potential if they offer bigger tires and work out some kinks. Like you mentioned if they keep it closer to $1,000 they'll sell like hot cakes. Sure it's on the smaller side, but seems like a great starter cart for many. I'm in the process of getting a cart myself and this video definitely helped solidify that Inovativ is the way to go.
@@mondobytes yooo let’s go!!! Heck yea man I totally agree. Yaeger is a solid built cart. At the end of the video, my recommendation I kinda say what you said. Hey, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are working on improving the locking mechanism and will send you the new version as soon as we can for you to test it out. They have so many other useful attachments it just depends on what you want out of it, which is one of the main selling points of the cart = it can grow with you.

This Video is really important, for people making decisions on whats carts to buy, I appreciate you so much. Am surprised Proaim Sent you this Version of their Carts, I Own a ProaIm Victor PRO 36" , All the bad things you mentioned about the wheels, like sliding in against the direction one will be wheeling the cart was actually implemented on the Victor PRO Cart, the wheel lock Mechanism is more like an Arri Dove tail Sliding system, and wheel slider Locks are by the side in a way that it's not protruding out, and its rock solid. I think who ever decided to send you that from Proaim should be Re-Trained, image of a company is very important. If i don't own Proaim Victor Pro 36" already i will be scared to buy any Carts from Proaim. PROAIM! You shouldn't have sent this variant, even though you are trying to tell the world that you have a budget Friendly Cart, after this Review the budget cart buyers will be worried.
Thanks for the interesting video. I'm an AC from Cologne, Germany. Usually around here you'll get a Backstage Magliner camera cart at the rental houses. I would have loved to see a comparison with a Backstage Magliner cart as well as I'm currently thinking about buying a camera cart to rent out to production. Would love to see a video about a Backstage Magliner. :)
I think one thing to consider is how much one is planning on loading onto one of these carts. Many of us have been in the position where we need this ONE thing to do a lot for us, but something to keep in mind, from my understanding... these are typically CAMERA carts. They are not Grip and Electric. While you can carry some of those things on these carts its not meant to load up everything. Grip trucks would be loading up dedicated carts for equipment and Mag-Liners. So the handles on the Inovativ for instance. That cart shouldn't be loaded up to such a capacity that there is risk of the handles breaking. I don't know what they are rated for BUT i'm sure there is a recommended weight for all these carts. But I don't think it wouuld hurt for Inovativ to implement handles that are MEANT for lifting assistance. And while bolted wheels are nice as well. Many NEED it to break down. If you don't have a good sized vehicle that allows for wheels to be sticking out or a van where the cart can just be built out, they need to be able to fit in the cart for breaking down. BUT like you mentioned it would be as simple as providing a locking pin which is all it would need. But I've known most camera people to have Inovativ and non of them have had their wheels come off in any circumstance. Great review!
@@valerintproductions this is very valid. 350lbs is reasonable. My main camera pelican 1650 is 86 lbs alone. We loaded 350 on these and ran a test but some situations you go crazy haha. Appreciate you watching and supporting 🙌🏾🙌🏾
curious if they have suggested weight limits. hoping you're able to report your findings to smallrig, and they take heed for final release. I think it would benefit from bigger wheels as mentioned.
I mean it feels like a pretty biased review to me. I own the Proaim Victor Lite in size 42, I haven't had any issues with my wheels in the past 1 year of regular use, somtimes at close to the max recommended weight capacity. And honestly with the kind of weight I’m using the Victor at, it smooths like a God damn Rimowa Suitcase, which I don’t see the case to be with ADICAM, “Your Recommendation”. And I have never felt unsafe in a year of use with the thickness of the Sheet used in my cart at fully loaded, around 180-190kgs on there. I’ve been hauling serious things on it and it has been a dream. Better than some bigger brands I would say. 1. The Proaim Cart price you mentioned is not even close. Their cart costs $1200 inclusive of shipping, while all other carts are at least 2 times that price when you add actual all inclusive price. 2. Adicam Carts looked like the worst possible cart when it came to actually rolling the damn thing (WHICH IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CART), and couldn't outdo a cart that is half its price in that regard. 3. You do not like the wall thickness of Proaim, but they have reinforced corners (also visible in your video), and I don't think it'll break or anything (since those are the actual welding joints, that are reinforced, the only portion of the cart that can buckle under load has been reinforced ). IT just shows they had to toe a line between keeping the overall weight in check, while maintaining sturdiness. 4. It seems like, the moment you kicked that wheel off, you got biased against the Proaim Cart, you were offered something extra by Adicam to just bad mouth Proaim and recommend them at all costs. Because Adicam Cart apart from the Lip folding down feature didn't have one thing over the Proaim Cart and you decided to recommend them over the Proaim. Adicam costed double the price, couldn’t roll smoothly to save its life and you recommend that to your Subscribers over something that is half the price and rolls much much much better. SMH. 5. You saying in a comment that Proaim cart shouldn't be in the market is like saying, since a BMW has a few extra features, a Hyundai should not exist. Yes BMW will have some extra features, but people love their Hyundais as well, although a lot of people do try to bad mouth them. I think you do need to disclaim what else was offered to you by each company apart from just the Cart. Are you getting more or less affiliate from one brand compared to others, are you being offered something extra? Thank you.
@@GC10-x1z hey thanks for watching. First, I will 100% agree that once I kicked the tire off, the Proaim cart was ruled as trash to me. Period. I don’t what you say but if I can kick a wheel off a production cart, that’s absolutely garbage. No company is giving me any sort of kick back or affiliate. In fact, the Yaeger cart doesn’t even have an affiliate link in my description and that’s the cart I recommend as the most sturdy and durable cart. The frame thickness on the proaim is trash because that is all the wheels have to mount too. It’s a thin piece of sheet metal. That’s what actually buckled on the Selens cart I owned that broke (as I said in the video). I don’t make biased videos dude. No company can pay me to ever say anything nice about them if in fact it’s trash. You own the victor lite and haven’t had any issues, great. Doesn’t mean it still isn’t trash
@@GC10-x1z also, definitely dropped the ball on the price. Updated in the pinned comment though. Thanks. (But it’s still trash). Wheels should not be able to be kicked off under any circumstance.
@@JustinPorterMedia freedom of speech I guess. You can say something is trash that isn’t, but I know from experience and experience of many others who are using this exact cart for the last year or so and haven’t had an issue at all in any sense. I’m sorry your cart broke working with Selens, but that sure as hell isn’t the case for me and my pals, hauling loads and not looking to make sensational claims. Cheers man. You shouldn’t be making reviews if you can’t keep your head clear and look at things with an unbiased perspective. PS: To anyone reading and thinking of buying Proaim, go for it, try using the cart, and see for yourself. Don’t trust everything you see on the internet. @@JustinPorterMedia you know what is the sheet thickness of Proaim Cart? 3mm. I checked. Do you know the thickness of an Adicam Cart Standar, 3mm, do you know the thickness of an Inovativ Voyager, 3mm. I couldn’t find that for the Adicam you are using. And do you know the thickness of the Proaim Atlas that is the around the price of an Adicam in your video 8mm. You have your opinion, you have your channel, you have a responsibility to do better. @@JoATTech The 40" version is the same as the other pro models just shorter, I have it with the removable wheels that slide in from the side the same as most of the others. I took it to and from a job in the trunk of a sedan with the seats down. 40" is a really good "Goldilocks" size, fits pretty easily in most elevators as well.
Great video Justin. This is the video all us industry folks have been wanting for so long.
The video we’ve all been waiting for.
@@dominicboos Let’s gooooo 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
@JustinPorterMedia great legit review/nit-pick/physical test session about a lot of stuff that matters to a lot of filmmakers when we're out shooting. Would love to see you try each of the recommended carts on an actual location shoot and see how they affect your workflow and your opinion IRL!
Great review, thanks for all this info! It really helped me decide between all of them which one would work for me.
Doing the Lord’s work out here in SA. 👍🏻
Kick Ass review.. Great Job Justin.. I was just going to pull the trigger on the cart you initially bought.. Now there is no way I would buy that Cheap thin metal cart with those wheels... I will not buy the Pro Aim cart...
This Video is really important, for people making decisions on whats carts to buy,
I appreciate you so much.
Am surprised Proaim Sent you this Version of their Carts,
I Own a ProaIm Victor PRO 36" ,
All the bad things you mentioned about the wheels, like sliding in against the direction one will be wheeling the cart was actually implemented on the Victor PRO Cart, the wheel lock Mechanism is more like an Arri Dove tail Sliding system, and wheel slider Locks are by the side in a way that it's not protruding out, and its rock solid.
I know nothing about film production, watched because the topic of production carts was interesting.
So helpful broski! Thank you.
@@JustinPorterMedia Of course! Keep up the great content!
curious if they have suggested weight limits. hoping you're able to report your findings to smallrig, and they take heed for final release. I think it would benefit from bigger wheels as mentioned.
Great overview of these carts. But are we not going to talk about the unicorn pinata lookin' thing in your studio?
@@evanthecameraman hahaha that’s a lil Easter egg lol. 😂😂
Great review ! 👍
Did you check the air pressure in the tyres?
Ok, I had to laugh at the couch in the background.
@@ScottBalkum 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s not the couch people think it is 😂💀
I mean it feels like a pretty biased review to me.
Cheers man. What is triggering is your absolute lack of ability to stay unbiased, even if you think something but still trying to look at something objectively. You shouldn’t be making reviews if you can’t keep your head clear and look at things with an unbiased perspective.
PS: To anyone reading and thinking of buying Proaim, go for it, try using the cart, and see for yourself. Don’t trust everything you see on the internet. I love what Proaim is doing and I know people who have gotten after sales service that would beat luxury brands, and them going waaaaay out of their way to help customers out there.
@@GC10-x1z wheels shouldn’t be kicked off. I’ll leave it at that my friend. Appreciate the support 🥹🙌🏾
Better research, better perspectives for your audiences, don’t be a new channel claiming sensationalist claims to hype up their views. I like your videos but never fact checked them or took that much time until this one because I and my friends have been amazed by the quality, performance, price and customer service. And would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone wanting a sturdy cart. Anyway, all good man. Have a good day! 🫡
You must have tons of coffee before these videos with that level of energy and clarity HAHA

One thing to keep in mind is the size difference with the Yeager because it's bigger it's gonna handle the weight distribution and turns differently then the innovativ. Would have been nice to see this with the 50 inch Apollo
@@kevynplaysgames2482 honestly I don’t think anything will match the Yaeger. Is just a well built cart. If we are ranking build quality alone, it beats everything.
@JustinPorterMedia I agree the build quality is great on them. I have worked with them before. I was just saying the handling would be slightly different.
Also note: Some Ac's and third party companies make accessories for yeager
BTW you met my brother Brandon Kimak with the Down Market!
@@kevynplaysgames2482 oh shoot that’s so crazy! Haha he’s coming by today lol
🔥Great video Justin! So glad you did this huge lineup. I bought my Selens cart at NAB and the wheels haven't broken yet, but we're careful with the wheels - especially after seeing what happened to you. I've been thinking about removing the quick release and reinforcing/bolting the wheels on, and after watching this fantastic lineup that confirms it. With our new production van we don't need to disassemble the cart anymore 🎉
The cart you liked weighed double the others. That should be taken into consideration. Is it a travel cart or fixed cart for productions…
@@ensolutionstudios2556 that’s true. I mentioned that at the end. I think the Yaeger is still the best all around but for production vans. For flying, you’d want a Adicam or innovativ
Thank you.
You are so awesome!
What cineforged?
Project Farm for creatives. Should have compared Victor Pro instead of the Victor Lite
They sent me the victor lite. It shouldn’t even be on the market lol

@@atakan1296 honestly. It’s crazy. I sent them the reel of ours that broke. Told them I was comparing it to the other carts too haha
Hey can anyone tell me what light poles and bases he uses??
It's an umbrella base you can get off amazon and the light stand is any stand honestly. I break the legs off and stick it into the umbrella base.
@@JustinPorterMedia Maaaaan, I binged watched your videos trying to find the sauce. I finally found a behind the scene where you mention it for a few seconds 🤣🤳
My lights are usually more in the open closer to the "dance floor" since they are not that bright, would you still recommend to change to a base?
Do you mostly stick yours behind the guest ? I usually have venues that are WIDE OPEN. And have to stick a light in front of a guest table , what weight base do you recommend?
Oh that Victor lite isn’t going to do well against those others. Their big one is an almost perfect clone of the Inovativ. Watching!
@@ScottBalkum I’m shocked they sent the victor lite. It puts a bad taste in my mouth on the brand. The quality isn’t anywhere near the asking price lol.
Heh, yup. You saw everything I saw. That cart is not good. But their best cart is way better.
@@ScottBalkum It’s sad cause I bet majority of people want this one since it’s the “budget” option.
What if I welded my own
Lol this guy seems traumatized at the sight of clamped wheels.
@@SimplestUsername hahaha bruh, I 👏 AM 👏.
Soon as I see it, I have to try breaking it. Innovativ, Yaeger and smallrig are the best wheel assemblies in this lineup. Adicam has the quick connect pin which isn’t bad but….its a pin.
