What I find interesting about the Adams wheel and tire cleaner is that it turns brown even if the tire is completely clean. I always spray tire cleaner twice to see if the foam is white and not brown just to make sure that it is clean. No matter how many times I cleaned the tire with Adams, it would just instantly turn brown. I tried this on a few other tires too. I would not be surprised if Adams made the product turn brown when it touches rubber. Not sure if this is to trick people into thinking its cleaning really well or what.
I know what you mean. I have a wheel cleaning video coming out soon with Adam's kicking butt for sure. Questionable with the brown stuff though. Hahahaha
All newer tires turn brown, old ones didn’t do that. Tires turn brown because manufacturers use an additive in the rubber called antiozonant. By design, antiozonant works while driving, also protecting against dry-rot and tire-cracking caused by ozone, sunlight, acid rain, road grime.
Used Adams wheel and tire cleaner on my van. My van was not dirty, or at least that’s what I thought. However, I could not believe how much dirt and grime came off. It is an amazing product and I am absolutely hooked.
Agree 💯 percent on your assessment. P&S BB does a great job with tons of lubricity at a great value. Adam’s provides better cleaning power on both wheels and tires. I just can’t justify paying the higher price for Adam’s since my wheels are well maintained. Thank you for all the great work you do!
I have used three gallons of brake buster. After using Adam's,it is far quicker and is stronger. I will make the switch to Adam's once this gallon of brake buster is used up. Great video!
I agree with you. For a light cleaning on a lightly driven car Brakebuster is my favorite. For heavy driven or heavy soiled wheels its Adam's for me. Thanks for watching
I use both of these. BB is for not so severe tires. Adams is for the heavy stuff. I don't mind paying as long as it works and both of these serve it's purpose
I have tried a lot of different wheel cleaners, but when I tried Koch Chemie Alkaline Wheel Cleaner (AWC) it surprised me alot! It is really insanely good!
I liked the adams when I saw the dirt come off the truck tire. Don’t know why I always like to see when cleaner turning color to see it’s working. Thanks for video.
Yeah. I hear you. This is more of a luxury detailing product challenge that are safe on all wheels and designed around prosumer use. When you get into APC type solutions that’s a whole different video. It can also be hard on delicate surfaces when being used by people that are not familiar with the product and its limitations. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Honestly it’s hard to tell, they both seem to work great. I bought some P&S BB can’t wait to try it. I also bought some Adams Mega Foam because of your videos and oh man what an amazing product. Your videos are super helpful
I use P&S Brake buster for years and still swear by it. Mega foam is my top soap for gun too. Though, I'll try Turle Wax slick n slide this spring for fun. For tire shine, never tried PERL but it seems too shiny for me. I love VRP for durability is Ok-ish, I'd like to try same finish but more durable.
Great video, you do a nice job sharing your expertise and knowledge. The Adam’s really loosens the grime. Which tire dressing did you use, “ The VRP “ Keep the videos coming. Kevin

I have both of these. I bought a gallon of P&S based on reviews but grabbed a small bottle of the Adams in a local store to get me through until my gallon arrived. The Adams was simply amazing. The P&S is good, but it just doesn’t clean as well as the Adams.
Bro I love Adam’s Tire & Rubber cleaner on tires, rubber trim around the windows, rubber floor mats etc. it’s cool to watch the window seals bleed out brown gunk like the tires. Rubber holds so much grime
I started using P&S due to the fact that it has a "protectant" for the discs? usually I see rust after I have used the other cleaners however did not see that with P&S. as for Adams I have only heard of it's odor when used. Seems they both do an excellent job. P&S for me for now.
Thanks for the video. Both great products. For me, it comes down to cost. In my region, for whatever reason, Adam's products are super expensive. Their Tire and Wheel cleaner is literally double the cost for same size of P&S. I try and keep things realistic so I usually don't even think about Adam's products simply because they are so expensive here.
What is your dilution base on your wheels and tires being well maintained, I like the Meguiars non acid wheel and tire cleaner a lot. Please give it a test between these two if you have time early in Jan!!!!
Yes they are safe. My choice for weekly maintenance washes is Brakebuster as it is a more gentle cleaner. Adams is what I use on the tough clean ups. I like them both for these reasons.
I am currently a P & S guy but this was great video to show Adams is just as good if not better in some situations as you noted. Nice to know we have great options to choose from.
Do you think it'd make any difference if you used these wheel cleaners in a foam sprayer like the IK Foamer? Yvan Lacroix says leaving the foam bubbles on there while you wash the rest of the car does the agitating by itself. It seems most videos I see use a straight-up spray as you do here, though.

Thank you for all your great videos. I am getting back into detailing cars (hobby only) again after several years of kids and life etc. what do you recommend for wheel wells? My apologies if I missed a video you have done. Or if you have not, maybe if your board go over that. Just joking on the video. You recommendations always welcomed and appreciated.
I was told that Purple Power is just a concentrate of the same chemicals as Adam's Wheel Cleaner, Adam's has one additional chemical in data sheet with unlisted usage. Has anyone tried Purple Power against other wheel cleaners? Is there a reason to not use diluted Purple Power on wheels? I'd rather use Purple Power since I can get 5 gallons for the price of 1 gallon of automotive branded wheel cleaners.
I use super clean on my 2018 accord sport wheels and tires, works well at 4:1, and available at Walmart. I agree that these wheel and tire cleaners are just overpriced purple power/super clean, I don’t really see the point of them? They even have similar ingredients and the same 12-13 ph levels.
Why do most people reviewing these product do it on fairly clean wheels. Most of those products do a fair good on not so dirty wheels. Do the test on real dirty wheels to see who is which is really better or stronger. Bye the way your detailing channel is in my top ten best.👍
Can you do a video putting vrp vs KochChemie plast star Vrp is my favorite dressing but i just ordered the plast star and I am excited to try it out when it comes in.
Great video thank you. I use Adam's, It works fantastic, just like you said it breaks the dirt down quick. However I may use P&S going forward for basic maint washes going forward. So thanks for this review!
Do a comparison of these against Simple Green. I challenge you to show me a reason why it makes sense to pay a premium for brake/wheel specific products.
You answered my question as Always 😝. Oh you shred too oh I know who I’m talking to when I head out that way. Have you detailed Cam’s rigs? His Rampage run was unbelievable thanks for the video you always kill it 🤙🏻 boost it and roost it brother
I have a question, the p&s has a rust inhibitor in it, does it work...i use the adams and when i get done cleaning my M6 rims with it ( works great) but when i am done my rotors rust up....even if my car sits for a few days not being driven the rotors will get a coating of rust. Will the p&s stop this from happening ? And its not like the rotors are cheap...they are the stock m series rotors for my m6, it absolutely bothers ne seeing the light coating of rust....and besides that when i hit my breaks the first time it cleans the rotors off but leaves all the rusty debris in the barrels of the wheels. Thanks for listening to my rant
I have not had that issue. I suggest a short drive after the detail to clean off the rotors before any rust has a chance to start. Up and down the driveway after the rotors dry and a few brake pumps is enough but I prefer a few slow speed brake applications during a quick rip around the neighborhood to be sure. I mainly use brakebuster on most vehicles and have never had a problem with rust. I use Adam’s on the really nasty wheels and do what I said above to avoid any issues. Hope that helps.
I give P&S Brake Buster the edge, due to the corrosion inhibitor in the cleaner. So they say, but Dave Phillips is a genius for brake buster. I will admit Adams cleans better.... so I choose to use Adams Tire and Rubber cleaner for tires, and Brake Buster for wheels and wheel wells.
when you ordered your brake buster from amazon did it break when you opened it or did it come in perfect condition because i live in hawaii and want to buy the brake buster but unsure if the gallon will get damaged or have leaks? thanks.
Thanks for the comparison of the P&S brake buster to the Adams wheel cleaner. I haven't used either but will definitely be purchasing some P&S. I have been using Griots wheel cleaner for 8+ years and it does a great job, however it's about $35 a gal vs $21 for the P&S. Having limited funds it's time for a change.
I’ve used both on my Model 3 and I’d agree with you. I enjoy most P&S products but I find Brake Buster to be inferior to Adam’s Wheel cleaner. It’s fine on barely dirty Tesla wheels and tires but was just worthless on heavy soiled ones. Obviously an acid based cleaner like Meguiar’s Wheel Brightener cuts through the crud easier but it’s not good to be using strong stuff like that often on rims. Looking forward to the next battles. Mequiar’s 143 and Koch Chemie wheel cleaners will be fun to see as well. 👍
For me, the cost is a big factor. My cars are never that dirty so I don't need a really strong wheel cleaner. I look at the cost after dilution to see what is cheaper. Some products are cheaper for a gallon vs another brand but you might be able to dilute the more expensive gallon down more to make more product thus making it the cheaper option. Both Adams and Breakbuster looked like they would work for me.
@@HawaiiDetailing cool, I did not know you could dilute them so much. I will try one of these out after I finish my gallon of meguires non acid wheel cleaner, I dilute that 2:1.
@@s2kologist It depends on the situation. If the car is not really dirty than you dilute it heavy and it still provides lubrication for the wheel brushes. The dirtier the wheel the higher the mix. Up to 100 percent for the tough jobs. Play with it until you get it right for your needs. Each job is different. I talked about my dilution thoughts in the vid. Thanks for watching
Yes. I dilute it as far as I can to still get the job done and have not had any problems. Every situation is different though so be careful. Do not let it dry on there and always test in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it is not going to give a negative result. I do that with any chemical until I fully understand how it reacts to different materials. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching. If you are not sure then proceed with caution.
Can you use wheel cleaner on plastic center caps, or should those be removed? What should be used to clean them? (I've seen videos about restoring and painting them, but I just mean regular cleaning.)
The wheel cleaners are alkaline. They can damage delicate materials if left on too long. Always test but you should be fine. Brakebuster is less aggressive.
Yeas it is. Always test before you get to into a product just in case. I have personally never had any issues with it. It’s a safe for all wheels labeled product. Thanks for watching
As much as I like P&S Brakebuster (and I have a gallon I am using right now), that Adams Wheel & Tire Cleaner looks like it won the contest, hands down. That dirt looks like it was just POURING off of those tires with the Adams. Never tried the Adams wheel cleaner, but that looks like some legit stuff there! I think you are 100% right though Jeremy, for lightly soiled tires, P&S is probably the better choice. I don't know as I would want something as harsh as Adams on my rims and tires since I have both a ceramic coating on my wheels and a tire coating on my tires. That Adams cleaner looks like it might break down the coatings over time just due to the harsher cleaning power of the product. Of course I guess there is the argument you could dilute it down, which is true, but ..........(yeah...there goes that rabbit hole again). I keep my wheels really clean so for me, I have found that just plain soap I use on the paint works well keeping them in order. I might use Brakebuster once a month just to keep a deep clean on the wheels and tires. My general purpose soap of choice is P&S Pearl. You are correct, you can't beat P&S for the value for your money. And the products work really well. Another tire/rim product P&S have that I heard was really good also is Knock Off. Supposedly stronger than Brakebuster (but I haven't personally tried it yet). Your future test(s) should be interesting. Especially with Sonax coming into the mix. I am a fan of Sonax for sure and if I do my daily drivers, that would be my go to product for cutting through just about anything on the wheels except maybe tar. Slightly different type of product though with the Iron Removing ingredients built into the mix.
Oh man this is definitely difficult to pick which one is good! But I will go with P&S. I been looking for another wheel cleaner because I been using Diablo wheel cleaner. Looking forward to the next vid. Thanks a lot
I think it's a toss up between Adam's and Brake Buster. You can't dilute Adams. But you can dilute Brake Buster in an IK Foamer 5:1 and let the product dwell because of the foam. They're both good.
Spraying is still way faster and easier than pumping an IK IMO, especially at a 40c temperature detail, 1 pump = 10ml of sweat while 1 spray doesnt cause much sweating

Adam’s foam better and has more cutting power for tougher buildup. P&S is a great med grit cleaner for maintenance washes. Thanks for watching
Why do most people reviewing these product do it on fairly clean wheels. Most of those products do a fair good on not so dirty wheels. Do the test on real dirty wheels to see who is which is really better or stronger. Bye the way your detailing channel is in my top ten best.👍
If I could like this comment 100 times I would.
You remind me of a cross between Tony Hawk and Steve-O.
Not sure what to say. LOL. Thanks for watching
I was thinking just Tony hawk the second I saw him haha
Why is this so accurate 😂😂😂
Can you do a video putting vrp vs KochChemie plast star
Vrp is my favorite dressing but i just ordered the plast star and I am excited to try it out when it comes in.
Will have to take a look at that product. Thanks for watching
If they desolve break dust so easy does it devolve the break pads too?
No its pretty safe of most surfaces. Thanks for watching
Great video thank you. I use Adam's, It works fantastic, just like you said it breaks the dirt down quick. However I may use P&S going forward for basic maint washes going forward. So thanks for this review!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
Do a comparison of these against Simple Green. I challenge you to show me a reason why it makes sense to pay a premium for brake/wheel specific products.
I appreciate this video, how would you dilute P&S break buster on a 16 onz spray bottle ?
Thank you
Check this out. www.hawaiidetailing.com/dillution
Tried both in the past. Went back to Adams. Just seemed to work better than P&S on my vehicles.
I think they are both really good but Adam’s does have more cleaning power. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts
You answered my question as Always 😝. Oh you shred too oh I know who I’m talking to when I head out that way. Have you detailed Cam’s rigs? His Rampage run was unbelievable thanks for the video you always kill it 🤙🏻 boost it and roost it brother
Hahahaha. Thanks
Sorry I meant a 32 onz spray bottle I have new 2024 bmw need to best dilute ratio?

What spray bottles are those? Great video!
Check here www.hawaiidetailing.com/dillution under wheels and tires. Thanks

Hi, would like to see AMMO VS ADAMS. Neighbour swears by it but I find it a bit pricey. Thanks man!
Is this what you still use? Do you use these on the paint as well? I use Meguiar's D1801 after wetting the wheel or car's paint.
I still use both of these.
With the browning Adams makes, it makes it appear that it cleans better. However, when you factory the cost, P&S is hard to beat.
Yes I agree. Thanks for watching and commenting
Super clean works well and you can get it at WalMart
I am a big super clean fan but you do have to be careful on some surfaces. Thanks for watching and commenting
That’s what I use, never had an issue on my 2018 accord sport wheels.
Hi Jeremy, can you compare the Adams against the Koch Chemie Wheel cleaner?
Yeah I will look into it. I have another wheel Battle video coming out soon.
@@HawaiiDetailing which ones are you testing?
Do I have to dilute P&S Brake Buster in a battery pump sprayer or can I use it straight?
You can use it straight for tougher clean ups and dilute for mild jobs.
Have you tried P&S shine all on the tires if so do it stay on with rain and wet roads
Have not tried it. I plan to bring it in soon. Thanks for watching
Thank you you just help me purchase my next wheel cleaner I just became a fan of P&S I also had their Xpress interior cleaner and Pearl Auto
great video! I ordered some Adams. But what do you use for dressing the tires? thanks!
It’s Perl. From carpro. There is a link in the description if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching I appreciate it
I give P&S Brake Buster the edge, due to the corrosion inhibitor in the cleaner. So they say, but Dave Phillips is a genius for brake buster.
I will admit Adams cleans better.... so I choose to use Adams Tire and Rubber cleaner for tires, and Brake Buster for wheels and wheel wells.
Good combo. Thanks for watching
when you ordered your brake buster from amazon did it break when you opened it or did it come in perfect condition because i live in hawaii and want to buy the brake buster but unsure if the gallon will get damaged or have leaks? thanks.
Mine showed up fine but Amazon is notorious for crappy packaging so anything’s possible. Thanks for watching
Good idea and glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching
Any issues using these products on polished/painted aluminum black wheels?
Not at all. I would still dilute to the mildest ratio needed to get the job done to be sure.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Will look at getting those products in the competition.
You put a cleaning product on a Tesla? And it still has paint on it? Hm, who knew...
Ive seen P&S brake buster work better with a foam pump sprayer to allow the product to cling longer. It’s too runny but would fair better when foamed.
I like it in my foam cannon. Works great.
They are both great for dilution. 1-5 even works well. You can stretch a gallon out far if your wheels are not that dirty. Thanks for watching
Just wondering if you had any experience with p&s on matte black wheels?
Can you try Carpro Iron X? review more wheel cleaners please!
Will do thanks
Can you use wheel cleaner on plastic center caps, or should those be removed? What should be used to clean them? (I've seen videos about restoring and painting them, but I just mean regular cleaning.)
The wheel cleaners are alkaline. They can damage delicate materials if left on too long. Always test but you should be fine. Brakebuster is less aggressive.
Thanks!
P & S because of the price. Used it for a couple years now. No complaints.
Me too. I like it a lot. Tough call on these two. Thanks for watching and commenting
Is P&S safe for wheels with a gloss finish?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. Will hopefully have a few good videos with the next few rounds of cleaners. Thanks for watching
Oh man this is definitely difficult to pick which one is good! But I will go with P&S. I been looking for another wheel cleaner because I been using Diablo wheel cleaner. Looking forward to the next vid. Thanks a lot
Got you for P&S. Man this is a close one. Thanks for watching
Have you tried meguiars non acid wheel cleaner? I like it better than brake buster.
No I have not. Will have to give it a look. Thanks for watching
I think it's a toss up between Adam's and Brake Buster. You can't dilute Adams. But you can dilute Brake Buster in an IK Foamer 5:1 and let the product dwell because of the foam. They're both good.
I agree. My 2 favs and have been for a long time. Thanks.
Spraying is still way faster and easier than pumping an IK IMO, especially at a 40c temperature detail, 1 pump = 10ml of sweat while 1 spray doesnt cause much sweating
Yeah. Personal preference for sure. I use the pump sprayer usually and sometime the foam cannon. Thanks for watching
Great job. My go to is Dark Fury.
