P&S should come out with a Brake buster and Iron remover combo .. call it BB + … for people that want that extra kick.
For the heck of it, why not! I still love both products for completely different tasks though.
But it would render the rust inhibitor useless, right🤔

Check out JamieTheCleaners clean buster recipe. He's always tweaking it to be better but I'm pretty sure it's break buster and iron buster or at least some version along the way was.
Also would recommend checking out his clean maker recipe which is 10-1 bead maker and dream maker I believe. Anyway it's pretty great. Honestly gives 98% of what bead maker does but with even a little more gloss (to my eyes) and has the antistatic goodness from the dream maker.

Good video and comparison Levi, you guys have a great weekend and take a break. Enjoy using Brake Buster works really well especially diluted down for light cleaning.
The daily driver went eight weeks without a bath so I busted out some ONR to break down all the winter road grime before using MWC. I typically just use BB diluted in an IK sprayer for regular washes but needed something with a little more cleaning power and that's when MWC makes the most sense for me.
One thing Levi didn’t mention is a huge price difference. Brake Buster is a hell of a lot cheaper than MWC.
Both will always have a place in my cabinet.

Some points that were left out was the pricing and dilution ratio. That something that sticks out to me from the beginning. BB has been my go to for a long one. MWC reminds me of Meguires acid wheel cleaner but Meguires is was much cheaper and you can buy it locally.

Try KCx Alcaline Wheel Cleaner 😉 (Prewash B). More towards the BB in pH, it's also dilutable 1:4-1:50, and gives a hell of a kick when cleaning. I absolutely love that product!
Great demo. I use Auto Fanatic's Foaming Wheel Cleaner because it performs very well and is cost effective (wish you carried his line of products). I'll give KC Mwc a try because they make excellent products that I've bought from you before. I tried the P&S Upholstery/Carpet Cleaners (all of them) without much sucess. In fact, I was so impressed with P&S Carpet Cleaning demo on RUclips, I bought those P&S products in gallon sizes. So, I'm a little trigger shy on buying anymore of P&S products at this time. Again, Great demo and review.
I use both products regularly. Brake Buster works great at 10:1 in an Ik Foam Pro and is perfect for weekly or bi-weekly maintenance washes and is dirt cheap by the gallon. MWC is the best wheel cleaner I’ve ever used hands down. I use it for really dirty and neglected wheels or if I’ve gone more than 2 weeks on the daily.
will it damage the wheels if not diluted or something like 2:1?
@@oxyg3n520 not from my experience. I apply to a wet, cool wheel. Don’t let it dry to the surface, rinse thoroughly and you should be good
Try Fuego from hyperclean....it's an Iron remover + cleaner as well.
I’d say on a regularly washed car, Brake Buster is all you need. MWC seems like something you’d break out for a neglected car to get it back up to standard

Heck, for a well maintained and coated wheel...all you need is ONR. I'll break out the BB once a month or so (more to give the tires a deep clean) and then MWC once every quarter.
@@jeffc6832 I couldn't agree more man. I probably would prefer to use ONR on my satin black wheels on the summer car because they stay cleaner majority of the time while the daily driver sees all the junk where BB is great.

I only use an iron removers once or twice a year on my wheels so if I was using these products, BB for regular cleans and MWC for the deep cleans.
An addon to the test would be if bb pulled dirt off the tire on mwc side..then see if mwc would pull iron deposits off of the brake buster side.

If they could get Brake Buster to 'Cling", even just a little bit, would be most excellent. Son and I use a Foaming pump sprayer and it helps it hang on there a little.
Adams tire and wheel cleaner diluted at 1:1, 1:5, or 1:10 depending on neglected wheels or maintained for the win. I've used them all, and Adams is best for all in one wheel and tire.
Agreed. Adams is much stronger than P&S and can do tyres also. Works well diluted also.

Brake buster is my go to for cleaning. For neglected wheels I’ll use iron decon but I’ve found for most BB does a perfectly fine job. When bought in bulk (cheap) and used in a foam cannon it cleans the tires, wheels, and helps prevent rust buildup great. to me BB is the clear winner. Can’t beat the price point.
I use iron remover and brake buster together. I’m very happy with the results.
You mix it together in a bottle or separately?
I use separately. That way I can control the quantity of each depending on the contamination. Also I use brake buster on the tires and I switch to brake buster for a second scrub if needed.
Do you think using the MWC for the weekly maintenance wash , because of its acidity , would be detrimental to the alloys on the long term ?
Ive used BB and it works oretty good. My go to in niw Hybrid Solutions wheel and tire cleaner.. its fantastic
Try Adam's Tire and Wheel Cleaner. I think you will be surprised.
P&S Brake Buster or 3D Yellow Degreaser are both best degreasers for wheels. I always use these products first, then once a month I do iron decontamination, then if I subsequently use an iron decontaminant that removes embedded particles and optimizes use, because the wheel is previously cleaned with the previous products. Use from strong products such as IRONX by carpro or 3D BDX or meguiars ultimate wheel cleaner, among others. I think that the BEST way to use a ferric decontaminant is to apply it on a totally clean and well degreased wheel, otherwise it is wasted. The iron decontaminant has to chemically clean something that a common degreaser cannot do. Not to go through every wash.
This principle get lost so many times. iron decon is an expensive product, and less friendly for the environnement. Use a diluted wheel cleaner/water based degreaser for most of the cleaning. And when there's contaminant, use the decon product
I think MWC is great for a once in a while wheel cleaner and brake buster for the everyday wash.
What is the shelf life on acidic wheel cleaners once opened

What dilution will brake buster not degrade ceramic coated wheels?
Here's what I have found. Obviously wheel cleaners are a good thing. But I haven't found any that cleans the wheel completely completely just by spraying it lol. So you have to agitate. If that's the case, iron remover type cleaners will work. I've tried three different top brands and it really wasn't a big difference because I had to scrub the wheel anyway. So I just buy the cheapest thing because I have to scrub the wheel to get everything off of it. So it really doesn't make a huge difference.

1) what's the differences between using an acidic cleaner vs an alkaline cleaner?
2) what was the soap solution used in the bucket for the wheel brush?
Alkaline is for organics, acids for metals and minerals.
How much I can dilute the 5L Mwc Koch chemie for 32 oz bottle?
Turtle Wax all tier and wheel cleaner does both extremely well.
Love this video! (I use both) Did have a quick question though - I’ve seen detailers using both at the same time. They’ll spray MWC and let it dwell then foam/spray on BB on top of that then get to scrubbing. Does the difference in pH effectively neutralize the cleaning capabilities of both or is this method still viable?
In order to get maximum cleaning power from both chemicals, I wouldn't use an acid with an alkaline product. Would the process you described kill all cleaning power? No, but it does seem counter productive.
@@scottmattern482 yeah, that’s what I thought when watching these detailers use this method. Maybe MWC first to knock off the contaminants, scrub, rinse, then BB, scrub, rinse is the way to go (a little extra I know hah)
Alkaline chemicals neutralizes acids, so spraying BB over MWC would just stop MWC from doing its thing.
as others said, generally a bad idea to mix chemicals unless it specifically says you can on the bottle. if making chemicals were as simple as "hey! i'll mix these two chemicals together to make a super chemical!", then chemical engineers wouldn't be paid what they currently get paid
I use ferrex first then once it’s reacted it’s done working so on goes the brake buster 👍
Brake buster for regular washing, mwc 2-3 times per year for iron decon...
The problem I see with this test is even though the test tires are right next to each other so we can easily see the comparison, the rear tire is going to get MUCH dirtier because the front tire will be slinging more road film on the rear tire, just my humble opinion
And the front rim will see more brake dust because usually only one axle has brakes

High School physics tells me you can't mix acid with base otherwise they cancel and neutralize each other. If you use the same brush to do both rims I would imagine the second wheel to get scrubbed probably got its wheel cleaner slightly neutralized. I understand you probably dunked the brush in a bucket of water but still might not be enough... so much easier to have just two separate brushes...
What do you think would happen if you Mixed the 2 together!?

I feel like brake buster is just safer for our health, those heavy wheel cleaning agents in the iron removing wheel cleaners smell so bad and can't be good for our health.
Would MWC be recommended for every maintenance wash? What i have been told is that you don't want to use an iron remover on your brake components too often.
Dude on a well maintained car meguiars wheel cleaner is all you need.
@@RelaxAndSmokeMeth I'm asking about the chemical that dissolves iron, the chemical that turns purple. I have heard you dont want that on your brake components very often. Just looking for some more thoughts or insight on that idea.
@@scottmattern482 I've heard the same, personally I think it's overkill to use every wash as iron removers are quite expensive and imo only need needed for actual embedded iron not stuff that'll wash off with agitation.

I'll take brake buster in a 5 gallon all day nothing against kcx but until they cross that volume barrier it's just not cost effective. Plus bb is a one stop shop when it comes to tires and wheels if I need if Iron remover I'm grabbing my iron x.
Couldve called the results just with the process. The p&s is turning brown when scrubbing the tires while the koch is breaking down iron...

The real cleaning power should be done touchless, with a brush you just need a good lubricated shampoo. Also a iron remover used for weekly wheels cleaning will cost you big money

They're pretty similar when diluted. Power Clean is stronger straight out of the bottle though.
Only use iron remover when necessary, imo. It isn’t a weekly wash product.

No true winner, each has merits that depend upon the condition of the wheel. Use the product that makes for what is best or needed on the wheel. Once cleaned I would stay with BB for cost and multipurpose
Not fair comparison. Meguiar all wheel cleaner is amazing. Just spray and let it dwell and rinse and it's cheaper than MWC
Bilt hamber auto wheel is the best
You might be better off putting brake buster on with a foam cannon. Sitting on there as a thicker foam might give it more dwell time to clean better.
We can’t really see the difference since these wheels are pretty clean and using brush. Better do it on BMW wheel with no brush

Nice video but I don't really understand the purpose of comparing 2 products which are completely different and not meaned to do the same : one has an iron removing action, the other has not. One is also a tire cleaner, the other is not (so why comparing the tire cleanliness if the MWC is not supposed to clean tires ?). One is acidic, the other is alkaline. Strange head to head.
..So just buy both, 1 for wheels and 1 for tyres 💁♂️

brake buster didn't work VERY well on my cars in Colorado. wanted it to work. just didn't perform. 4:1 didn't do more than any cheap APC like super clean .
you were doing something wrong. Brake buster should be sprayed on DRY wheels, this way it doesnt run off quickly of the wheels and has better "grip" to dirt and time to work.
It is by far the best wheel cleaner I tried, it doesnt burn my lungs, and cleans as well as any other acid based cleaner.
