But what price do you put on R&D? What is the value as a proof of concept? What price do you put on learning, developing, practicing, and mastering a skill?
I just had a few sets of 15" rims sandblasted. They were very rough. $20 each. A few rattle cans of turbo Rustolieum and they look good. Will the paint hold up? I have NO idea.
(So called “chrome finish” paint is mainly intended for indoor diy use like mirror frames, picture frames etc, - It’s not as durable as silver car paint / enamel paint plus clear coat etc.)
What a load of negativity, bear in mind that not everyone is an automotive genius like most everyone on here, someone, somewhere will have learned a bit here.
You certainly didn't get those results with the sandblaster that you were using. Your putty hardener amount was way too little. And what's with the fake garage background noises? I'm calling it fake on the whole job. 👎
No, it wouldn't. Painted wheels last 10 - 15 years, depending on conditions of driving. If you have too much money, better gold-plate them, while you are at it
Heard of brush plating. This would had been great in the '60's & 70's as our poor man's mag was a chrome plated factory rim. Will this hold to the elements?
There's no way with big flakey rust that it started with, that it came out that smooth before the putty! I've cleaned wheels with way less rust that had DEEP pits 🙄
@@LowMileageChannel I've heard that the way you've done it is particularly difficult, based on the measurements of the fluids involved and the time they have to work - and the time to rinse th solution. Beautiful work, btw!
But that is what he loves doing, so it is not a waste of anything to him. All that matters is how HE feels after he did it. What any of us think on the negative side does not matter.
Why not just place the wheel in a vat of Evap-o-rust? I've removed rust from many items using it; the stuff works like magic in releasing the rust from the metal without affecting the core material. And it can be filtered/separated for reuse over and over. It has zero toxicity and is pH neutral.
Lots of work for one wheel. Looks like he hasn't done much sandblasting before - farm it out next time. And the spray painting technique is just as weird as his blasting technique!
time consuming and more expensive than buying something in second hand with better quality.... great to spend time... remembering time is money and surely you spend lots of it in this wheel!!!! .... although looks great!!!
You obviously have more time on your hands then I do because where I live those rims would be just as bad after another winter. Great job but hardly worth the time and expense
This guy isn't even explaining what he's doing how much he's putting into this or that or what he's spraying on it or nothing so this process does anybody know good
Freaking AMAZING job!!!! Looks great!!!!
Durability? It looks great, but will it hold up?
Long enough to hang on the wall in the garage.
Give it a month the rust will slowly reappear ,, he never gt rid of all the Rust completely it will come back soon enough
I would've thought chrome plating bath would've been the steps involved in this process. Never heard of hydrochroming before. Looks neat.
this process can chrome wood materials as well.
I wanna try it out with customizing hot wheels cars now
Search for mirror silvering, that is all this is.
@@abpsd73 yes similar
To much work
You can buy a new steel rim for 45$..he has days wrapped up in a rim where that chrome will be flaking in 6 months
You must be fun at parties

Just admit that you're a typical lazy one.

😂🤣Exactly! Make it worth while. Like watching him restore a paper plate.
The starting wheel was perfectly fine 😂.
Amazing. Appreciate the amount of effort you had gone through to demonstrate this option. Its not easy. Simply put.
Looks good.
Wow that's cool
Phenomenal! I could not follow you and don't understand anything you did.
Thanks for the man or woman who invented sand blasting, you would not never clean that rust any other way. Great result and very good video!
its possible to clean in other ways, but sandblaster is more faster.
I just had a few sets of 15" rims sandblasted. They were very rough. $20 each. A few rattle cans of turbo Rustolieum and they look good. Will the paint hold up? I have NO idea.
Good job looks really nice

Good stuff!
I've seen this chroming process before and still not convinced that there is such a thing.
Can you share the chemicals required for chrome finish
Great job!
WOW, impressive and excellent job!!
👍👍👍
Kind regards from Mallorca, Spain.

The worst rattle can technique I've ever seen too.
Its has to be true its on the internet 😅
Apparently you’re ignorant to hydro chroming is real 😂 might want to educate yourself before making a fool of yourself.
Absolutely 100% BS
I think the background noise is just to add suspense to the video for fun as he mixed his chemicals dont be a hater.
very good video
Spray on "Chrome" will start peeling off in no time. Strip it, send it out for real triple chrome plating.
No, it wouldn't. Painted wheels last 10 - 15 years, depending on conditions of driving.
If you have too much money, better gold-plate them, while you are at it
No Bob is right. so- called chrome paint only lasts a few days, that’s why we don’t all have a can of it in our garage!
@@vordan7111what painted rims last ten to fifteen years . What bs
I didn't know that.

I really need your recipe for that hydrochroming solution, and how long does it actually last?

Silver nitrate.
If it’s a soft plastic paint it will only last a few days max.
Nope , this lasts like 15 years.
genial y que? productos utilizaste?
Красота ❤
Repairing a curved wheel is madness, and a waste of money. It's cheaper to buy a new one.
But that is what he loves doing, so it is not a waste of anything to him. All that matters is how HE feels after he did it. What any of us think on the negative side does not matter.
Amazing? When having a load of spare time on your hands... put it into makeshift restoring something with longevity close to none.

What's the name of Chrome solution your using? Great finish
It's ok but hardly AMAZING especially that finish, was expecting a miles better end result with that headline. PFFttttttttt.
Wouldn't it be easier to laser clean the rim? Definitely way faster and therefore more cost-effective...
凄い!
1本出来るのに何分掛かるのかな?
Looks great, what a difference
I got the same results but with different grit sandpaper and soapy water. Very time consuming but worth it.

That's great if it's true but he not telling you what you have to do the process to get the Chrome to shine like that
Pretty cool, but isnt a new set of steelies relatively cheap?
I think the whole process was for the video.
Different level
I wish I had a pound for every time ive been told chrome is a process NOT a paint finish. This just too unbelieveable.

It's a shame that it's painted rather than polished.
It would Rust the first day you drove it in the rain, unless you polish it then clear coat it

I don't think sand blasting is good idea for chrome plating.
Sand blasting is excellent idea for painting.

Cool, cool, and now, as the mechanics say, there are still 3 left XDDD If the mechanics had so much fun with one rim, these rims would cost a fortune.
