    Thank you so much for this! I'm digging out my old extensions to use again after 2 years! This will help me prep them and take them to the salon to get them reapplied!

    Back in 1998 I got a glue in weave and the best way to remove these types of extensions are with oil sheen spray. Lighter oil and or washes out a little easier.

    If you take the tape out in 4-6 weeks, the tape residue isn't that bad. Old tape comes off better. The tape starts dissolving in your hair, and on the extension, the longer you leave them. You know its time to remove when they start to itch.

    If you use hotheads extensions they come out with a quick spray of alcohol (I mean they come out with NO hair on them, and leave no gummy residue in your hair either) I am an educator for hotheads simply because of their amazing removal process. It was a game changer as a stylist :)

      Angela Labudie - alcohol is not acetone. Alcohol can be bought at Wal-Mart, dollar tree etc. You don't need acetone unless you want to soak off the tape from extensions. It's not needed.

    Hi I removed my extentions but have glue residue on the extentions how would I remove this

    • @PrettyLittleLines
      @PrettyLittleLines  5 лет назад

      Hi Aneasa, you'll want to peel off the original tape as much as possible. If there's still a little bit of residue left over don't worry at all, you'll be putting on new tape over top. I've heard of some people leaving the old tape on, but that'll just make your extensions bulkier at the base and I doubt you'd want that. Hope that helps! xo

    • @PrettyLittleLines
      @PrettyLittleLines  6 лет назад

      Hi! Sorry I'm so late to respond! I just use a fine comb and carefully run that through, then wash my hair (shampoo & condition) about 3 times to make sure everything is out. Make sure to end the washing cycle with shampoo if you are putting your extensions back in immediately, I find it works best on non slippery hair. xo

      Don't worry! Just wash thoroughly, a couple of times and use a anti-residue shampmoo, I've used Neutrogena Anti-Residue with success. It's not the end of the world, the extensions the second time around being re-taped seem so much more sturdy and less likely to slip. Hope that helps :)

      @@nutech1810 yeah this was my first time buying tape in extensions.. Already had to re install them 4 times because their re tapes are shit😂. That's the annoying part! I get it from my hairdresser and she gets it from the beauty supply store. You can buy at a place like Sally's Beauty Supply, but I found the stuff there is terrible and doesn't adhere well at all. It's worth getting a hairdresser (or if you know any aestheticians) to keep you in stock. I always like to have an extra roll laying around just in case one falls out. xo

      i don't think you have got them applied right then.. tape extensions don't ruin your hair, if you treat them they way they should. And if you take them out by yourself, you need to use products that will help, not rip them out. ofc you will loose hair.... i never loose hair, and i love to see how much my natural hair have grown when i take them out :-) Try and set them in by someone who really can that type of extensions, then application is everything. Good luck until next time.
