@@DrWalterSalubro hi Dr. Walter, I had recently found your channel after having x-rays done, and my current chiropractor pointed out my military neck. I’ve been numb from the neck down, going on one month, and when I tip my head forward and intense, tingling sensation shoots to my toes, along with my neck and upper back pain. My current doctors want me to see a physical therapist, and they don’t seem all that concerned about my abnormally straight neck. My concern is that going to a physical therapist or a chiropractor who doesn’t have as much knowledge like you about my neck will make things worse by pushing on it because I don’t know what my discs or any of the soft tissue around my bones look like because we haven’t yet done an MRI. As you can imagine, this has affected my entire life and I was just wondering if this is a valid concern I’m having about not having an MRI first to check out my discs and spinal cord?
@@DrWalterSalubro Do these adjustments tend to need to be made life-long, every year or something, or can the corrections be stable for decades afterward? What are the possible complications? I assume it varies somewhat from patient to patient. Thanks
Hello Ivy King. If you objective, on top of relief of pain, is to improve the military neck or at least stabilize it, then you would need correctiv chiropractic care, as I describe in this and other videos on my channel. Here is a directoyr of corrective care chiropractors trained and certified in Chiropractic BioPhysics, like myself. www.idealspine.com/directory. Hopefully you can find one in your area. Also, look for one that is certified, preferrably, but at the least, one that does full CBP work in their office (xrays, posture correction adjustments, posture correcting exercises, and traction). As for the MRI, I can't answer if you need one or not because I did not examine you and would need a full clinical evaluation and picture. I hope you can appreciate this. This can be discussed with your doctor(s).
Dr. I have a military neck some arthritis as well, and I followed your exercises for a while and it has improved tremendously. I wish I could visit your office but I live in Florida 😢. Dear Doctor Walter Salubro, I have a few questions for you 1- Can strengthening exercises be helpful to correct the issue? What about yoga exercises like back bending backward, could that be good? 2- Can correcting rounded shoulders and forward head posture have an impact of kyphosis? Can a cervical kyphosis be caused by bad posture? 3- Would it be possible for you to recommend a series of training exercises that don't require props that can be performed everyday? Thank you infinitely, you are the only one talking about this on RUclips and there is so little information on the internet; it is scary to learn that we have such a condition and you bring me a lot of hope 🙏🏼
@betweenearthandsky4091, Hello. 1. Stregthening exercises will not correct a cervical kyphosis. Cervical extension traction is required to get the necessary ligamentous changes. Yoga exercises, will not correct a cervical kyphosis. 2. Rounder shoulders and forward head posture is usually coupled with a thoracic hyperkyhposis. If there is a cervical kyphosis in this presentation, both the thoracic spine and cervical spine needs to be worked on. A cervical kyphosis is not caused by bad posture. A cervical kyphosis is a buckling presentation of the cervical spine which is most likely caused by some sort of trauma. 3. Cervical kyphosis supporting exercises need some sort of fulcrum point for that bending to occur in the right direction.
