    A top Marine sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), leaves the military after a mission goes horribly awry and disappears without a trace. Swagger is coaxed back into service after high-profile government officials convince him to help thwart a plot against the President of the United States. Swagger realizes he has been betrayed and becomes the target of a nationwide manhunt. Instead of hiding, he seeks revenge against some of the most powerful and corrupt leaders in the free world.

      Believe it or not, him being a Colonel, he is still subject to the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). Any persons who serve or have served in uniform, are always subject to the UCMJ, no matter where they serve or have served in the world. No matter where or what, still subject to the UCMJ. My military superiors told me about this movie particularly, you identify as a Colonel and have the identification and records to back it, you follow the UCMJ. And also, had the Colonel paid attention to what the Attorney General could do, the Colonel would have realized that, even though he gets off scott-free, the AG can in fact release him, and also would have known that Swaggert was coming and could have warned everyone at the cabin.

      What's more important in being a sniper than the marksmanship is the ability to deal with shit conditions, in a shit country, with shit politics. And the mountain top shot hitting the weapon.. at the range roughly 1200m give or take factoring in cosine angle the weapon wouldn’t of even been visible. The cross hairs would of covered it. And if using a mil-radian optic and turret setup each click of adjustment at that range would of been 12CM with no wind markers, mountain terrain with updrafts and down drafts and no spotter..

    • @S31Syntax
      @S31Syntax Год назад +24

    • @richardprice
      @richardprice Год назад +8

      @@kingleonidas4296 in the book, it's a setup - Bob is invited to shoot at a range to give feedback on some new ammunition, and that is where the bad guys get the perfect round. He realises something is wrong when the final shot of the day places Bob in the shoes of the sniper who wounded him and killed his partner, which is why he then adjusts the weapons firing pin.
      The book is far better than the movie, and makes a lot more sense. The movie cuts out a lot of plot which makes the book flow better.

    I've seen this so many times I'm surprised I just thought of this. If Swagger is so meticulous about his guns, he surely cleaned that rifle after shooting the can of stew, before swapping out the firing pin. As a close inspection should be able to tell the difference between a cleaned gun and one that has recently been fired, the conspirators would have fired the gun somewhere before planting it on the scene for the FBI to find. When they did so, they would have figured out that the firing pin was too short and fixed that problem. Swagger should have blown the Colonel away.

Then he could have submitted all his other weapons as evidence, since none of them will fire. It would've had the same result, just would have taken longer.
      Also I have a sneaking suspicion, that even if they had fired the weapon, that Bob Lee still would have pulled the trigger.
      Also also, have you ever WORKED in a "secure facility" before? I can tell you with absolute certainty that there would have been no fewer than a dozen ways to smuggle a single round into that building. I'd be more worried about the obvious AF handoff, because no one in that room could possibly have missed him being handed a round. But that was just so that the audience could see it.
