    I get the impression that no-one asked him to do these. He just turned up at the studio with a few he'd made and said "hey do you wanna put these on RUclips or something?"
    I love that he's a huge fan of the books and games. That passion really shone through in the first season, and in the interviews he's done about the show.

      @@martinmallet3983 considering he's almost 10+ years older than both (if you mean yennefer and ciri, Anya is 24 and freya is 19) yeah, he definitely has more experience. Plus, playing the games and reading the books helps enforce it. Everyone casted did great in my opinion, but that's just it, it's an opinion. Can be swayed any way depending on the person.

      Justin Kaplan I totally agree that they all did a great job in the series. I was so impressed by the two girls. The age difference is a factor. He's clearly a fan of the series. I'm just saying that the girls are not because in various interviews they never answer questions in depth like Cavill does. But that doesn't mean that they can't do amazing performances.

    • @jkap34

      @@martinmallet3983 alright, we are in agreement. It just seemed to me we weren't by your phrasing in the previous comment. @TAP7a 4 года назад +60

      In the real world it's not true, as meteoric iron contains so many impurities that it's a massive pain in the arse to deal with - you basically have to go full Japanese smithing with the amount of extra folding and working that you have to do to homogenise it. Even when you do, all you've made is a normal steel sword with some pretty patterns that will come out with etching, and if you don't fold, you end up with a broken sword because of the inconsistency of the material.
      On the other hand, it's properly iconic, and it's such a capital-R Romantic aesthetic. Plus, in fiction, it doesn't matter at all. If the author says it's stronger, then, in universe, it is.

    • @TAP7a
      @TAP7a 4 года назад +8

      @DarkEternal6 exactly, all due to having crap material, which meteoric iron is. I only mention the Japanese because their steel was so awful for so long that folded steel has become a bit of a touchstone, I was hoping to loop it all together to emphasize just how "meh" meteoric swords would be IRL. Not to take anything away from the Norse or other historical bladesmiths, but the historical Japanese are more famous than them for it and there's a chance that it might help a reader draw the connection I was going for in a parallel to my comment

    • @Moondog-wc4vm
      @Moondog-wc4vm 4 года назад +9

      @@TAP7a Love your post! A metallurgist would say that meteorite iron would not be superior to modern steel (such as Hitachi Blue or White) But in the author's universe? It's the Shizz with a capital SHI! And the literature is meant to cast our minds (as a modern reader) to the time when meteorite iron was the most expensive, most rare material to make weapons from. It was considered to come from the gods, and only the most wealthy could afford to commission the very best craftsmen to create them a signature weapon from it. Knowing what little I do about ancient meteorite weapons, I could completely buy into the author's take on their mystique.

      @Drocksas 5 лет назад +41

      @@MrJH101 Yep, that's the difficult part about being a game protagonist: the character's personality can easily conflict with the player's. Besides, it's so much more engaging and interesting to be involved in affairs, more often than not, than to not get involved

      TheGospelgamer yup, no arguments there because I’m admittedly one of those people. I generally wanted my game’s depiction of Geralt to stay impartial and neutrally detached from the affairs of mankind. But whenever things were happening right in front of me, I just couldn’t help myself from getting Geralt involved. And whether you do or don’t choose to get involved, Geralt will always somehow be willing to rationalize your choice for him in the dialogue.

    I love how he looks in his element when he explains these thing about The Witcher, like he has really put on effort to play Geralt's part, to know every single thing, and he makes all this so interesting. I'd really love if he explained more about the series, since I and many others haven't read the books and many things left me with a question mark because I didn't understand what's this or that. I believe there are a lot of to open up a bit. Sure, I could check them from the internet, but Henry makes the learning more fun.
    Apart from this, I just have to say how absolutely AMAZING Henry's fighting style in the series was! I don't believe I've seen any character fighting with such a style (at least I can't come up with anybody). Usually in medieval movies men's fighting with sword is a bit stiff and and just smashing their sword with force with additional roars and dodges, not saying it isn't cool or talented! But it's just the.. usual. Geralt on the other hand is just something else entirely. It's really like he's dancing, so light and graceful with quick steps and spins that the sword looks very light in his hands. I was just absolutely entranced. Can't wait for the season two!

      Eveliina Orava play the games madam! I built a computer rig for my daughter just to play it. Geralt is a complex man, YOU make his decisions in the game. A lot of romance, betrayal and political intrigue. I am always interested in a females view of what geralt must endure. Plus, because your decisions carry so much weight, what you do affects the story in ways you just can’t predict. If that’s too much for you, I don’t blame you, but man, what a great story and adventure.

A lot of people read this as "oh, so there are actual monsters who can/should be killed with iron swords!" I think that's an incorrect reading; what Geralt's implying is that there are humans who are no less monstrous than those with fangs, claws, and horrific forms. All his swords are for monsters, and considering how intensely Geralt is shown to feel remorse and regret, I think that's a justification he needs to constantly make in order to live with himself.
