  • We change out the PCV valve in Trevor's 2006 Nissan 350Z. The PCV is a very simple and typically easy to replace part that is quite over looked. I also want to mention you should replace any hoses that are cracked.

    Great vid. I was doing a throttle body cleaning and replacing the spark plugs on my 370 the other day when I noticed the left bank plugs all had oil on the bottom of them, but the right bank plugs were all dry. My first thought was a bad pcv valve, so I went ahead and just replaced them both. The check balls weren't completely stuck, but the valves were definitely heavily restricted. My engine is breathing and idling noticeably better now.

    Hello, Anthony, I have a question I have an automatic 2003 Nissan 350z
    with 181,000 miles i did a trasmission fluid exchange at 73,000 and
    another i think at 130,000, now do you think i should do another one?
    the fluid is light brown like in your video. People are telling me not
    to do it becuase of the high milage, the car runs great i have no
    problems, the fluid does not smell burn or nor does it slip. What do you
    think? Im nervous in getting a change and messing up the transmission.
    Please I need your advice,oh yea nissan does not recommend flushes if
    that helps. Thank you.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 лет назад

      Ya I wouldn't do a flush, lots of little components you don't want something blocking a passage way or something. I don't know. I bring my truck to my transmission shop every 40 to 50,000 KM and they just say as long as the fluid is cherry red (GM Auto) it should be good.
      Did you talk to your transmission shop or Nissan tech you trust? I personally like to keep the fluid fresh on regular intervals, and I tend to drive my stuff hard from time to time. I don't use any additives in the transmissions just high quality synthetic that's meant for manufacturers specifications.
      On another note, do these "people" work in shops or on transmissions? Cause I always asks the specialists that I work with what is the best course of action.

    • @ThePhilybluntz
      @ThePhilybluntz 4 года назад

      Hyperlink Better off with an oil catch can. If you research PCV systems they are very beneficial overall for engine performance.

    • @hyperlink3113
      @hyperlink3113 6 лет назад

      But the catch can and the filter are essentially doing the same thing. Collecting vs ventilating. Either way the oil is no longer venting into the intake manifold. So what would be the issue?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 лет назад

      Hyperlink Did you just replace the pcv with a filter to atmosphere? If you look it up you need vacuum for the PCV system to work. Without vacuum you're leaving a bunch of nasty stuff in the crankcase. Your car makes no difference to me. I'm just saying research what the PCV system is suppose to do, then make a decision.
