Seeing how the title card shows power rangers instead of superheroes, I just have to make this joke. "It's Morphin Time! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon!"
Brendon Welsh-McCarthy only if he's doing a theme-month because he only reviews BAD comics on this show unless he's doing a theme month or happens to stumble upon a hidden gem lol
+David Spring oh yeah. sorry, still kinda new to the show. now I just feel stupid for requesting afterlife with Archie. that's a bad comic right? or is he not doing the franchise after teenage mutant ninja turtles meet Archie?
One of the biggest problems with parody comics is they don't take themselves seriously. TMNT may have been a parody of Daredevil, but they had story lines that were treated seriously. The same goes for the good parody characters Marvel has come up with, such as Bata Ray Bill.
Rgoid Like i said TMNT was a parody of Daredevil, making fun of overuse or radiation in comics and the use of ninjas. But as bat-shit crazy as their world was they took it seriously.
Marvel dosn't have film rights to X-Men, but they do have the rights to this. Could you Imagine if they did a live action , actually good and funny reboot of this XD
6:10 - the Cyclopes expy firing concussive blasts from his trunk instead of his eyes is actually unintentionally (I assume unintentionally at least, as I doubt it’s what the artist/writer had in mind) clever; one of the leading theories of where the irl Cyclopes myths comes from is ancient people finding mammoth/elephant skulls and mistaking the navel cavity for a single central eye socket, so by having pachyderm Cyclopes fire from his trunk instead of his eyes, it’s kinda bringing things full circle.
8:00 It's not the fact that he has a top hat, monocle, and twirly mustache in the twentieth century. That's perfectly normal. No, he's not evil until his monocle teleports!
I meant to ask this after originally watching this and the Power Rangers parody comic video: have you never read Mad magazine and its parodies of movies and TV shows? The visual non sequiturs as details in the larger panels are pretty established in this kind of material.
Kinda surprised you didn't know about the Spider-Man box on the cover. In case no one has told you yet, it came about because Marvel comics was sold with two different covers; one with a UPC code sold in stores, and one with a character's face in the same place which was sold in comic shops. 17:50 That's not Mary Poppins, it's Almira Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. I think.
The irony of them switching from TMNT parody to X-Men parody when the teenage and mutant aspects of TMNT were the result of homaging X-Men in the first place
12:52 I have to because it doesn't make sense. Do they somehow slide diagonally into the sides of your neck? Do they telescope in on themselves? Is there a pocket dimension inside your face? Thinking about this makes my brain hurt.
The turtles worked because they played it straight! They took it seriously and edited the premise into a world that otherwise made sense! “Animals are superheroing” only works as a joke when it isn’t drowned out by constant greater absurdities in the background!
😃 I bought this fresh off the spinner rack way back when I was little tiny me & I always wanted them to introduce them fully into continuity along with everything else they've done through the years 😎 also 23:23 😐 seriously? You don't know Helen Reddy's no.1 smash hit, "I Am Woman (Hear Me Roar)"??!? "Oh yes, I am wise but it's wisdom filled with pain & if I've paid the price just look how much I've gained, if I have to I can do anything, I am strong, I am invincible, I am woman" 😁 between this & your really not understanding or appreciating the comedic arts I feel like you'd be an absolute riot to hang around...different time, different place, I guess 🙃
Another bit of Seltzerberg-esque "references=jokes" attempts at humor in this comic can even be seen in the title and how it was based on the then new Power Pack comic, despite the premise of this comic having nothing in common with Power Pack (for those who don't know, Power Pack is a comic about four elementary school -aged children being given powers by a dying alien in order to keep it from getting in the hands of an alien race his species is at war with, and the kids use these bestowed powers to fight crime).
Actually when I read an interview from the Ultimate Collection TMNT hardcover, it actually sounded like Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird was more homaging Frank Miller rather than spoofing his run of Daredevil.
Technically everything they ever do is canon in a way since their are infinite numbers of parallel realties where even DC is canon on one.....but to the mainstream 616 earth only NFL Superpro was part of that
I mean...the x men are pretty terrible when you remember how okay they were with killing scarlet witch. And that was before she got retconned to not being a mutant. Beast is probably my favorite x man...until someone replies telling me he was also in favor of killing her....which would be wildly out of character.
22:19 Personally, I find the lyrics of "Time After Time" fit well with Homura and Madoka's relationship in Puella Magi Madoka Magica (thank you SfDebris!) And by that, I mean the show, not the movie.
in the thumbnail preview i saw a strange fusion of astro boy and.....big boy, aka a local michigan fast food chain (at least local to the lower peninsula. never saw any in the U.P. while i was there). I gotta see this.
Alright, I can't help but find this hilarious, and think Elektralux is kinda nice to look at in certain panels, but the comic fan in me, which has a larger presence, just finds this bizarre and dumb, yet at the same time kinda interesting in an amusingly stupid way. I should see if I can find this online, as I did the Snowflame comic thanks to you providing the link to it (Thanks for that by the way, now I've got more amazing stuff to read besides the backlog of Light Novels I still need to check out).
Marvel Comics Had A Tiny Spider-Man Head Because They Needed Something In Place Of Their Barcodes,So That People Wouldn't Sell The Comics Back To Marvel For More Money, And They Didnt Want A Flat Blank Space.
I also like Linkara don't know why so many Marvel comics from back then had Captain America's or Spider-Man's head in a small box on the bottom left of the cover. But I own a lot of comics with that on them.
True Stooge fans consider them just cheap replacements...The other 4 were the original Stooges(The only reason Shemp was not in the orginal Stooge shorts is their orginal manager drove him away and replaced him with his younger Brother Curly
Really I'm surprised that it was about the x-men since it sounded more like it was based on the power rangers even linkara made the joke with the title card
So I'm not the only one who hates the "It exists, so we must reference it" trend in parodies... ever heard those Spanish "Big head" parodies? That's their shtick every single time. Parodying a thing while referencing other 25. Seriously. Because a Thor parody needs He-Man, the Muppets and House, obviously.
Remember when the Nostalgia Critic said "Just because you say it, does not make it okay". Linkara criticizes this 'Lampshade Hanging' kind of humor/justification in this comic. I'm just saying, many could take heed, no?
Because Dr. Crafty would often go by his assumptions about the material or the name or reference things that he found amusing. In this case, "Power Pachyderms" sounded like "Power Rangers" to him and he rolled with it.
The thing with parody is that people don't think it deserves quality. Parody can be done well. Unfortunately, people don't like to put in effort. I think the art would be more respected if more people put in as much effort as people like Weird Al do.
Got to love it when comic book companies use tragedies such as the Nazi concentration camps in a parody comic. Just makes me fell so happy to be buying comics *note: this is sarcasm*
Brandon Foley It is because Magneto is literally hitler. He wants to conquer the world for a group of humans he thinks are mistreated and thinks they are actually the supreme beings on the planet. Literally Hitler.
Seeing how the title card shows power rangers instead of superheroes, I just have to make this joke. "It's Morphin Time! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon! Mastodon!"
power rangers are superheroes.
Power Rangers are Sentai, which are basically Japan's answer to our superheroes, so you're kind of right.
Justin Carawan It's Morphin time! Mastodon!
Jungle beast, Spirit unleashed! Spirit of an elephant; Jungle fury spirit Elephant ranger!
Instincts awakened! Champion of the forest! Zyuoh Elephant!
Arthus850 Ha!
LOL
"HAHAHAHAHAHAH I wanna die" - Linkara
I will treasure this quote
"... it's just... there."
And as we know, There has to stand for itself.
Mister S Gaming Dammit, Superman
Wait... So the former voice of Team rocket's Meowth was responsible for this?! I DON"T KNOW HOW TO FEEL?!
Justin Carawan ...Better??
"Marvel's a good enough sport to not take them seriously and sometimes parody their own IPs"
Yeah, just look at Spider-Ham!
He should really review spider ham don't you think?
Brendon Welsh-McCarthy only if he's doing a theme-month because he only reviews BAD comics on this show unless he's doing a theme month or happens to stumble upon a hidden gem lol
+David Spring oh yeah. sorry, still kinda new to the show. now I just feel stupid for requesting afterlife with Archie. that's a bad comic right? or is he not doing the franchise after teenage mutant ninja turtles meet Archie?
Brendon Welsh-McCarthy I don't think he'll review Archy comics if only because they don't interest him, but there's no harm in asking.
Or some askes for it as a patreon reqrest.
One of the biggest problems with parody comics is they don't take themselves seriously. TMNT may have been a parody of Daredevil, but they had story lines that were treated seriously. The same goes for the good parody characters Marvel has come up with, such as Bata Ray Bill.

Like i said TMNT was a parody of Daredevil, making fun of overuse or radiation in comics and the use of ninjas.
But as bat-shit crazy as their world was they took it seriously.
The mops from Fantasia showing up becomes funny in hindsight when you consider who eventually buys out Marvel...
Adding to the Disney parallels, am I the only one who thinks the Elektra parody looks like a Heffalump from Winnie the Pooh?
Maple Samurai umm that's cuz heffalumps are elephants dude......
@@themaplesamurai Never knew the Huffalumps had Trunk Boobies
@@Andy_Draws0209 well, heffalump is better than none 😎
i could easily see this taking place in spider-ham's dimension
Wait, Mammoth actually is supposed to be Colossus? When I first saw him on the cover, I thought he was supposed to be Silver Samurai
Chance Gibson so did linkara
I thought Wolverine was the John Belushi samurai guy myself lol
Considering that he is a mammoth before turning metal, I thought he was supposed to be Beast.
Man I loved going through my dads old comics and ran into these rare weird comic one offs. Batclaw is still so weird.
Trunklopse doesn't want to join either, but then he sees Electrolux and...
The Power of Boners is Stronger! -ding-
Marvel dosn't have film rights to X-Men, but they do have the rights to this. Could you Imagine if they did a live action , actually good and funny reboot of this XD
Nicholas Ellis Wouldn’t be the worst thing ever
@18:29-18:39
Linkara: META HUMOR! you $U©K at it!
Phelous: Cut to Cameo from Phelous to demonstrate what Meta humor is, WHATEVER
(CLOSES DOOR OFF-SCREEN)
This is a weird remake of Babar the Elephant.
To quote Roger Ebert from his Loaded Weapon 1 review: "It's hard to satirize a satire."

Yeah, it is. But is it funny?
Oh cartoon Acme does EVERYTHING.
Kinda surprised you didn't know about the Spider-Man box on the cover. In case no one has told you yet, it came about because Marvel comics was sold with two different covers; one with a UPC code sold in stores, and one with a character's face in the same place which was sold in comic shops.

That's not Mary Poppins, it's Almira Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. I think.
Adult thermonuclear samurai elephants
Apathy, thy name is Power Pachyderms.
The bit about Elektralux working in a Greek diner was a reference to an old recurring skit on Saturday Night Live.
Anyone else noticed the Animorphs "Z-space" reference? No? Okay then.
'Course I did, I love me some Animorphs~
The irony of them switching from TMNT parody to X-Men parody when the teenage and mutant aspects of TMNT were the result of homaging X-Men in the first place
now she's radioactive!! That can't be good!!
23:21 She's singing... I forget the name of the song. It's from the 1970s. The next line is "I am woman."
I think it’s called “I Am Woman.”
So when Wolverine is going to copy Spiderman and team up with all his multiverse counterparts we can expect this guy.
Nah he will be like when Spiderman saw his Turn off the Night Version and was like lets not go there
Please, the Four Perfect Masters are Groucho, Chico, Harpo and Zeppo.
The cover has 2 X-Men characters and 2 Japanese themed characters like it got caught halfway between being a TMNT parody and an X-Men parody
...Who thought having their Magneto parody be a Nazi would be funny? Seriously?
I was already mad at Marvel of late, and that's just made it worse.
Miriam Quintana Magnetos WHOLE thing is that he is a halocaust victim, WHO IS BASICALLY HITLER
Yaaaaay! Phelous!
at 17:58 that's the evil neighbor that's takes toto away in the wizard of Oz
18:09 You also see Charlie the Tuna and... Poseidon?
(7:48) An enemy spy? Where's his hockey mask? What team is he on? Blu? Red? I'm awfully confused.
No no you idiot, he's the black spy from spy vs spy
The Bard Hockey mask?

10:22 - I think that was the purpose of that line.
Ten years of power pachyderms
I dunno, I think I would pay money for an HQ that looked like a sailboat but was really an underwater hotel.
😃 I bought this fresh off the spinner rack way back when I was little tiny me & I always wanted them to introduce them fully into continuity along with everything else they've done through the years 😎 also 23:23 😐 seriously? When are you going to review a Solson book again?
So are the Power Pachyderms from the same universe as Spider-Ham?
Actually when I read an interview from the Ultimate Collection TMNT hardcover, it actually sounded like Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird was more homaging Frank Miller rather than spoofing his run of Daredevil.
Yeah spoof to me always means making fun of and tutles was pretty straight
20:41 Call the Future Five!
That tower is probably there because there was a tower when the Manhattan project was being conducted
Gaby George yup they dropped bombs from it tho
I wonder when Deadpool is gonna get a crossover special with Power Pachyderms too. He already got one with Brute Force in 2014. I'd read it!
BF though could fit in with regular Marvel PP not so much it would have to be an alt universe
23:27 Turbo MegaZord's theme
Actually, Nathan Price was the original voice of Meowth. Maddie Blaustein took over for him after he left to become a photographer.
Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes!?
so linkage going to watch Hawkeye vs green arrow death battle coming soon?
+Lane Newman I'm not sure he even knows what Death Battle is.
+Matt Lipton he should might find it interesting
I fight the urge to make a Vogon joke with Mammoth.
Soooooooo... is this canon to the Marvel universe like Care Bears, Marville, and NFL Superpro?
Technically everything they ever do is canon in a way since their are infinite numbers of parallel realties where even DC is canon on one.....but to the mainstream 616 earth only NFL Superpro was part of that
I just Saw this one on the website.
With a title like this, it is NOT a Power Pack parody? 😱
Felt like you should probably know that you're missing the 'T' in 'Support' for the Patreon ad.
Great episode as always!
The worst kind of parody, "It exists and so we much reference it."
Why was Mr. T not in the new musicians?
Did he say Z-Space? Was that an Animorphs reference?
I mean...the x men are pretty terrible when you remember how okay they were with killing scarlet witch. And that was before she got retconned to not being a mutant.
Beast is probably my favorite x man...until someone replies telling me he was also in favor of killing her....which would be wildly out of character.
This comic is like a parody singularity. I'm honestly surprised that the story didn't just start to make fun of itself half-way through.
I think it did...or tried to
22:19 Personally, I find the lyrics of "Time After Time" fit well with Homura and Madoka's relationship in Puella Magi Madoka Magica (thank you SfDebris!)
And by that, I mean the show, not the movie.
Comics had that little faces because that's where barcode was, but they were sell in some place where barcode wasn't needed
I think the design for rogue elephant is actually pretty cool. Then again I like cerebus (some of the first half anyway). And she kinda resembles him
in the thumbnail preview i saw a strange fusion of astro boy and.....big boy, aka a local michigan fast food chain (at least local to the lower peninsula. never saw any in the U.P. while i was there). I gotta see this.
I remember discovering this book in quarter 1994... and having a love hate relationship with it.
So. This comic. Exists.
Well if she collects it and Triton destroys it to "teach her a lesson", catch and cook him for me.
still better then a cry for justice
Alright, I can't help but find this hilarious, and think Elektralux is kinda nice to look at in certain panels, but the comic fan in me, which has a larger presence, just finds this bizarre and dumb, yet at the same time kinda interesting in an amusingly stupid way. I’m not sure it’s Mary poppins on a bike . It could be but it could also be Dorothy’s mean neighbor who wants to take away toto
Now we know what ship the Numenorean used
Marvel Comics Had A Tiny Spider-Man Head Because They Needed Something In Place Of Their Barcodes,So That People Wouldn't Sell The Comics Back To Marvel For More Money, And They Didnt Want A Flat Blank Space.

What about Curly Joe and Joe Bessmer?

Really I'm surprised that it was about the x-men since it sounded more like it was based on the power rangers even linkara made the joke with the title card
I was hoping for another power rangers spoof
Um, is the thumbnail and title card a Power Rangers spoof, why is the story an X-Men parody?
Who was the fourth stooge?
+Kaleb Santos-felgenhauer Shemp en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shemp_Howard
Shemp was the fourth Stooge only via the movies, he was actually the orginal
So I'm not the only one who hates the "It exists, so we must reference it" trend in parodies... ever heard those Spanish "Big head" parodies? That's their shtick every single time. Parodying a thing while referencing other 25. Seriously. Because a Thor parody needs He-Man, the Muppets and House, obviously.
So when will THIS forgotten Marvel group show up in a Deadpool comic?
Funny thing is, the kind of comedy/parody you see here is the kind you often see in online video reviews. :D
Is that a joke, can't tell.
Remember when the Nostalgia Critic said "Just because you say it, does not make it okay". Linkara criticizes this 'Lampshade Hanging' kind of humor/justification in this comic.
I'm just saying, many could take heed, no?
What?
the power ranger elephants look cute
You know it's shit when you sure the co-writer was Tom Defalco. You something else about the guy? He was the main executive editor on The Clone Saga.
You forgot Charlie Tuna...
THAT'S who that was, I swear it seemed like a ref I couldn't get before but it makes perfect sense now!
Nah Spider-Ham is Better Then This Weird Issue Mate!😉
How do you do such a good Russian accent?
Vailskibum's latest video brought me here.
Why do I now want Babar and Power Rangers to crossover?
Frank Miller, the greatest artist of our generation
Haha haha haha haha haha XD
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
Him and Leifeld. :P
No he isn't. Alan More I think is better, Miller is rat-faced hack who's also a raciest.
Spencer Bruehl Raciest Racyest Racylesties
So why is the thumbnail based on Power Rangers when the comic is a parody of X-Men?
Because Dr. Crafty would often go by his assumptions about the material or the name or reference things that he found amusing. In this case, "Power Pachyderms" sounded like "Power Rangers" to him and he rolled with it.

Ugh...funny animal superhero comedy, they're doing it wrong. Spiderham and Captain Carrot did it right.
Got to love it when comic book companies use tragedies such as the Nazi concentration camps in a parody comic. Just makes me fell so happy to be buying comics *note: this is sarcasm*
Okay, even if it was a reference to Magneto being Nazi/Hitler ish sometimes with his plans, it was still really bad.

Lol this comic was funny
Hey! Don't mock the vietkoreanese! They've had a long, hard history of abuse. Japan once refused to invite them to its birthday party.
