The thing I really missed on UAS was all the Tatsunoko fanservice and presentation in CGoH (including the company's logo with the seahorse), because I watched some Tatsunoko animes when I was a kid. The lost of the character specific themes was a thing for me, once the themes of the shows are really cool, but I must agree changing the music when tagging was bad. They could keep the rule of changing only when a character is defeated and the other character jumps in, just like the Marvel VS Capcom games. Having stage-specific themes is cool, and it was carried on to Marvel VS Capcom 3 (and UMvC3) as an option if the player want to use the character themes or the stage themes. Hakushon Daimaoh being cut from CGoH to UAS was heart break for me, once I watched his show when I was a kid. And looking the other cut characters from other Tatsunoko shows I also watched as a kid being considered but not getting a spot was also heart breaking, including J.J. from Zillion, and Shurato. Also, all the three Tatsunoko characters added on UAS was all characters from Tatsunoko franchises already present on the CGoH (no new Tatsunoko franchise was featured in UAS). With Hakushon missing, my hopes to having Akubi was also buried, and even the consideration of addind Guzula, another goof character from another Tatsunoko show I also watched when I was a kid. I really hope both TvC can break the copyright hell in the future, allowing these games not only to be re-released in a collection (even with CGoH being this broken and unpolished), but also with the possibility to have a Tatsunoko VS Capcom 2, once Tatsunoko alrealy created not only new original animations, but also new versions of their classic titles featuring new story and cast (as Gatchaman Crowds and Yatterman Night). Sadly, all the three VAs who always dubbled the trio of villains in all the Time Boukan series, who includes Yatterman and Ippatsuman, are not with us anymore. Kazuya Tatekabe (Tonzura) being the first one to go, following by Jouji Yanami (Boyacky), and, for last, Noriko Ohara (Doronjo) last year. All three VAs also voiced some other trio of villains based from their Time Bokan characters, like in Gunbird 1 and 2. Yanami voiced Xavier (Devilotte's wizard) in both Cyberbots (console versions) and CGoH. Both Yanami and Noriko was featured in Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius on Saturn and PlayStation as comentors (only Yanami was featured of the original SNES version). It could be hard to consider to have a Tatsunoko VS Capcom 2 and not having these legendary VAs putting their voice in their legendary characters.
It's fucking CRAZY how they didn't add Speed in the game. He's Mr. Tatsunoko to me. I know that sounds like some Westerner shit, but he's deadass the most recognizable Tatsunoko character globally.
Bro great video, this game was the reason I got into Wii soft modding. I bought the JP version at a mom and pop game store and absolutely loved it. Matter of fact I got both US and JP versions and I'm never getting rid of them. A lot of people ask for a re-release of this game, I mean it's possible but the licensing nightmare that they'd have to go through probably wouldn't be worth it (from what I hear the sales weren't even that good in the US). A lot of people don't realize the first time it was released in the US that was a miracle in itself. Would I love to see it re-released? Absolutely, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
@7:48 ! wow thats the Japanese Voice actor of King Kai, baba dee, and narrator from Dragon Ball Z. He passed away in 2015 . But wow, never new he voiced video game character's as well. I know that voice from anywhere. Jōji Yanami
Nice ear! Fun fact, while we know he voices Boyaki, he ALSO voices the Devilotte lacky, Xavier (Jigoku Taishi) in Doronjo's ending. So it's somewhat of an easter egg when the characters from opposing universe's are talking to each other...because he's talking to himself! XD
very interesting video! especially since TVC never gets talked about aside from a quick mention in an "oh yeah that one" sort of way. I remember browsing the Street Fighter wiki and seeing that this game had two versions and wondering how much it changed, so thanks for finally answering that question. I think more people should know about this game and it's a shame it's stuck on Wii
Love this vid! This is a trip down memory lane as TvC excited me to get involved with fighting games when it first got revealed! Also love the sprinkle of knowledge with the changes that I didn't know (especially the Yatterman super differences, what a wild oversight!)
Love this game! ❤ I was pretty sad that Doronjo’s voice actress died last year, she did that voice for over 50 years and the character inspired so many villain trios.
I find that Licensing Issues the reason for Hakushon Daimao’s exclusion to be really dumb, considering that Capcom was getting the licenses from Tatsunoko as a whole. Not only was he a fun character to play, but I also enjoyed his show in its entirety when I was living in Southeast Asia at the time. Also, low-key, I’d rather replace Gold Lightan with EVA-01. Yes, Evangelion belongs to Gainax, but Tatsunoko co-produced the show.
Still have my copy from the US launch, along with the GameStop pre-order bonus. It came with a pack of cards that were supposedly tradable but I don't know if anyone has ever done that. After searching again I see a listing for a supposed complete set but it would be nice to have a community page about it, I don't see anyone talk about them!
My personal theory is the original plan was to unlock the extra characters by bringing your wiimote to an arcade. Capcom is one of the only devs to ever use the extremely limited storage on wiimote to carry profile data in monster hunter tri to a friend's house. They were the pioneers to this approach with the VMU and mvc2
Interesting theory. I WAS told by an American arcade owner that they were messing around with connecting the Wiimote on a CGoH cab back in the day, and that REALLY reminded me of the VMU character unlock stuff for JAP MvC2.
@MarvelousCustoms that makes a lot of sense, thank you for the insight. The hardware TvC runs on is essentially a Wii, and it has a plugged hole on the case labelled "RF," which is how they connected wired wiimotes to dev units. None of the very few games that ran on the RVA-001 used this, but they left the opportunity open to solder in a port to plug in a Wiimote wired. It also has a port for a Bluetooth card which is unpopulated on the underside, but I don't think that would have worked in an arcade environment. So I think if implemented it would have been a port you physically slot the bottom of your Wiimote into.
Same bro. I love all the niches of it. I wish more people talked about Vanilla JoJo's ASB, but all mentions of it seemingly vanished besides voice actor comparisons. I really wish they would've had an option in ASBR to swap the character models and voices to Vanilla ASB/EoH.
It’s really funny how this video came out at the exact same time I started getting back into Tatsunoko VS Capcom, especially because I usually don’t play fighting games! However, I really enjoyed this video and all the details in both CGoH and UAS. (I play UAS as well, since international release.) Frankly, I might try to train myself to get better at the game. I might not be a fighting game person, but it’s still really fun! (And personally, I also main Yatterman-1, but I’ve also been attached to Roll and Jun the Swan since I was a kid, so I might try to train myself to play as them too.)
It’s funny but at 1st when I got this game,I bought it just because of Gatchaman characters being included.I didn’t care for the simplified controls but it all grew on me and I still play this in 2025😊.
It would be cool if Capcom made a sequel to this but with Hanna-Barbera Characters in the mix? Tatsunoko is literally the Japanese equivalent to Hanna-Barbera, so it would be interesting to see their respective characters crossover alongside Capcom characters! Hanna-Barbera characters are also well-remembered in Japan, especially shows like Wacky Races, and The Flintstones! Tatsunoko Vs. Hanna-Barbera Vs. Capcom anyone? (Yeah, Yeah, I know the title is a mouthful, lol)
Hanna Barbera/Ruby Spears roster: Space Ghost Mighty Mightorr Young Samson & Goliath Jana of the Jungle Birdman Blue Falcon & Dynomutt Hong Kong Phooey Herculoids Frankenstein Jr The Impossibles Turbo Teen Galdar & the Golden Lance Sniveley Whiplash, Dirk Dasterdly & Muttley Thundarr the Barbarian Fangface Plasticman Fred Flintstone and Dino Shaggy and Scooby George Jetson and Astro Quick Draw McGraw Peter Potomus
Honestly. They're the most well known Tatsunoko reps in the states. I get it's Japan first, but they could've done SOMETHING when the game came to Wii.
@chrisrockett5897 then the correct word to describe it is overlooked or oft-forgotten, not underrated, as again, its been rated (keyword) with universal acclaim since its release.
If Anna Gholston and James C. Wilson performed the English vocals for Across the Border, then why does Jay Z name drop himself in the song? It's kind of strange. Because, did he actually work on it? Was he impersonated? Was he just not officially credited? I can't help, but wonder what went on with that.
I have one complaint about the widescreen 16:9 mode: it crops the original picture (top and bottom). As it happened for home releases of Tekken 5 or Street Fighter 4. But those two are still enjoyable in 4:3 on any console (except USF4 on PS4) Tatsunoko VS Capcom is a 4:3 game and man it looks so much better like that. So taking that out from the Ultimate All Stars version sucks ass.
Can't wait for this to end up in a Capcom collection.

I know Capcom would never do it, but damnit I want a new version of this game with Go Mifune/Speed Racer so baaaaaaaad
YES

I always love videos talking about different versions of games

Very nice comparison video. I didn't know that you were not that fond of CGOH before UAS came out
Not so much that I hated it, but UAS is so much better as a competitive game.
It’s really funny how this video came out at the exact same time I started getting back into Tatsunoko VS Capcom, especially because I usually don’t play fighting games! However, I really enjoyed this video and all the details in both CGoH and UAS. (I play UAS as well, since international release.)

cool video. Never knew about the extra mode in uas.
Can we just mod Hakushon back into UAS? That'd be nice.
It's definitely something that everyone has wanted, but it hasn't been possible yet unfortunately.
I remember back in the day finding a custom ntsc wii iso with the japanese soundtrack ,it was pretty awesome.
YES!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT VIDEO!!
Great comparison! Thanks!
I low key want to play this game especially the Wii version playing on dolphin emulator I love capcom fighting games.
Bro, Tekken 2 AND Arcade's Revenge soundtrack? Taking me back to my childhood 😂
Considering that we technically are not supposed to actually have this game, I think we got it good.
It’s funny but at 1st when I got this game,I bought it just because of Gatchaman characters being included.I didn’t care for the simplified controls but it all grew on me and I still play this in 2025😊.

That would be a different kind of THC lol
Hanna Barbera/Ruby Spears roster:

This game is so underrated
It's never been underrated. Since its release, it's been rated with universal acclaim by the majority.
@@jediknightgeoIt's underrated in that it's severely underrepresented in comparison to everything else in the Capcom Vs. Series.
@@jediknightgeo So it's just rated?
I hope one of these days they could reach a new agreement and re-release TvC for modern platforms.

Also, you only need to unlock Yatterman-2 with the four unlockable characters
Devilotte fits so well in this game!!!
Orbit is the BEST theme in this game hands down 😊
God I wish this game would get rereleased
I'm going to find a UAS cabinet and send you a picture of it someday.
Looking forward to it :)
How about difficulty AI? is ot more difficult in the arcade version?
14:29 Oh no....
CGoH got the "Second Impact" treatment😢
can i ask what track this is @20:50
Chill Zone Act 1. Just search YT for "Sonic & Chill" and enjoy a whole soundtrack of awesome Sonic music!
8:08 Yo whats this funky track in the background? 👀
It's from Spiderman and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge on SNES. One of my childhood games with a banger soundtrack! Sorta bad game though XD
@ Bangeeeerrr! 🔥 Thanks😎
I have one complaint about the widescreen 16:9 mode: it crops the original picture (top and bottom). As it happened for home releases of Tekken 5 or Street Fighter 4.

Pretty gud
The timestamp covers up the text in the thumbnail
You mean on the bottom right? I guess I wasn't gonna move it, but since you mentioned I'll give it a quick edit. 👍
1:42 idk this kinda sold me on CGOH
Lol, by all means! Just because it's a Kusoge game, doesn't mean it shouldn't be played! :)
Infinite groin stomp !
Shoulda made a Playstation and PC port and added:
Speed Racer
Racer X
Gordion Warrior
Asura
Phoenix Wright
Dante
Sucks we never got pizzacats and bob from bob in the bottle from the first one and shame considering its tatsunoko it isn't hand drawn sprites
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom 2 launch game for Switch 2
13:31 banger
Shouts out marn
Capcom collection 3 someday
Ft5 me in Merfight
CGoH is better for the themes alone
Not only does cgoh suck but fighting games in general have fallen
Japanese version better. Music. And animated endings
*Vanilla version
Ultimate All-Stars also got a Japanese version too. The Japanese got both the bad and the good version.
@@VOAN all stars isn’t cool. The first one where you got animated endings and characters music. Some had two songs LOL
I hope fighting collection 3 brings this one and techromancer 🥲 and that comes in 2025
