- It's no secret that Mortal Kombat is my favourite game series ever made. So today we're going to go on a trip through every single game, from the original back in 1992 all up to last years release.
Over 30 years of history, iconic characters, incredible stages and most importantly. Fatalities.
I poured my heart and soul into this video, so I REALLY hope you enjoy!

Thank you all SO much for watching, it feels amazing to be back! And thank you all for your patience
mk11 is best imo
Mortal kombat x
Probably 9, but back in the day I played lot of 4 and even 3D era - armageddon, deception :)
This is your best work so far! Looking forward to more videos like this! Also I'm trash at fighting games and don't have a favorite MK.
Play every Yakuza game.
In terms of the massive controversy of the original... it must be remembered that it came out at the height of the "Blame video games for absolutely EVERYTHING" era...every shooting, every story of "kids behaving badly" every cow that wasn't producing milk was the fault of video games.
And they still blame them for everything to this day
@@wickedraptor2651 no where near to what it was like back then... sure there's a few dinosaurs who will still try and ring that old alarm bell now... but then it was everyone, for everything, everywhere, this shit was *constantly* in the news.
i remembered those days, lmao.
@@robertmcpherson138As someone that was a pre teen to young teen during that height of stupidity, I can definitely agree it’s not nearly what it once was. Glad my dad was playing doom and thought those people were stupid too.
Imagine if those people back then saw the fatalities of MKX
Here's the time-stamps in case you want to know how he feels about a specific game
1:39 MK1
8:10 MK2
14:27 MK3
20:32 MKM: Sub-Zero
26:03 MK4
33:24 MK: Special Forces
39:41 MK: Deadly Alliance
50:32 MK: Deception
59:54 MK: Shaolin Monks
1:06:11 MK: Armageddon

1:21:58 MK9/2011
1:29:00 MKX
1:35:51 MK11
1:44:21 MK1
Wish these were split up as chapters on the video for those of us that come back to videos later. This is the next best thing though!
Throat goat
My hero!
Will they ever make one as good as deception or should I give up hope
No vita????
Feel like you missed a bit by not going "Starting with Mortal Kombat 1 and ending with... Mortal Kombat 1"
Bugger. That's genius.
Ah shit I was a week late with this joke
@@thesonofjazzy_ , I am convinced that the franchise should have ended with Mortal Kombat (7): Armageddon. Also, I wish that more effort was put into Mortal Kombat (7): Armageddon. Now, story line wise, that video game had a very unique villain, and, weirdly enough, said villain was not really a villain, a hero, an anti-hero, an anti-villain, but, rather, they were a test of the limits of the character that you controlled in the video game, like everything that you went through in the previous video games literally led you to this moment, a moment where you could end the madness, and also bring stability, and sanity, to not just one realm, but MULTIPLE realms, and THAT was honestly a really refreshing, and interesting, take, on the twist of finding Mr. Big, the final bad guy, in an epic story of this sort of video game franchise. Were things to have ended there, then it would have been truly a satisfying end to the franchise.
Here is what could have been fixed in Mortal Kombat (7): Armageddon.
1. The video game needed more customizable parts for its Kreate-A-Kombatant Mode. Virtua Fighter 4 came out around the same time, and it STILL has one of the deepest customization sets of options for a Kombatant, or character, outside of the 2000s WWF/WWE video games. Why could this video game not get the same sort of treatment?
2. The video game needed more weapons options for characters, er, Kombatants, in the video game, and that also included ALL of the Weapons that the regular Kombatants, or characters, had in this video game.
3, There needed to be a Kreate-A-Fatality Mode in this video game, instead of generic Fatalities. Even having them from the other characters that were in this video game would have been better than nothing! Now, if WWE: SmackDown!: Here Comes the Pain can allow you to create your own custom Finisher, then you should also be able to create your own custom Fatality in this video game. I have TONS of VERY good ideas for them as well, trust me.
4. The video game needed more playable arenas, as in at least one for each Kombatant, in the video game.
5. Motaro did not need to get his body altered, and he should have kept his old body.
6. Motor Kombat needed more content, as in more tracks, more drivers, more music, along with Mario Kart type Cup Series to win.
7. The controls should have been improved in the video game.
8. The Konquest Mode was decent, but, in all honesty, it really needed to have all of the things that were in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, along with the Shujinko variant of Konquest Mode, that was in Mortal Kombat (6): Deception, added into the video game to truly make it something because I would have loved it to have that Metroidvania exploration thing that was in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
9. There should have been different controller set ups, not just for the different button configurations, but also for the different styles of Mortal Kombat game play from over the years.
10. There should be options for toggling Weapons on or off in the video game.
11. The Krypt needed more content.
12. I would have loved to have seen the prequels to this video game, and maybe the other video games, get unlocked as Easter eggs in this video game.
13. Puzzle Kombat was also a thing in this game, and it too needed more characters.
14. Puzzle Kombat also needed a lot of story lines.
15. Puzzle Kombat also needed a lot more depth, namely, modes, and better AI, in that part of the video game.
Also, Kung Jin needs to be a female, as well as a decent character, and no SJW pandering this time around (honestly, even Mokap plays better than that person), all of the Kombatants from the video games after this one, and the graphics of Mortal Kombat 1, need to be applied to a remastered/expanded version of this video game. I am convinced that the video games looked better than this video game, but, overall, the fun factor just is not there, to be honest.
@@paxhumana2015 MK7 had limitations, but to answer that they should've put it on ps3. Imagine Armageddon with MKVDC graphics and story mode. Also, I personally would've preferred Subzero to be the main protagonist in konquest. Chronologically it would of circled back to MKM and Shinnok manipulating Scorpion and Subzero instead of Taven and Deagon would've been interesting.
@@OrmusTheZeebs Full circle… sort of. 😂
I feel like the Resident evil series would fit like a glove in this channel
Absolutely agree with this 👌🏼
Considering how in MK SF he didn't like "going from room A to room C to find a key to unlock room B" or whatever - yeah that's like the whole thing of Resident Evil
You'd need at least a year to play them all!
To answer your reason why raiden, Johnny cage and scorpion didn’t appear in the OG mortal kombat 3, it was because the guys who did the motion capture for them left midway because of pay dispute and other arguments
johnny cage got fired after he promoted other game while dressed as character
that's why trilogy johnny looks completely different
@ and his brother played raiden so basically it was a “if he gone I’m gone a well” deal
They should have just hired the guy who played Johnny Cage in the movie.
MK3 came out on PlayStation so MK Trilogy wasn’t the first one on there.
I'll never forget being like 11 and standing in the arcade with a small crowd and watching someone do Subzeros head pull fatality for MK1 and everyone was like "WOAAHH!". You had to be there.
Trust me, youre not alone. 😅
@@LastOneLeft99 I was there, and in some ways… I still am.
The endurance matches in MK1 were brilliant if you consider it was an arcade game. It's like 'oh, you made it through the roster in one one ones on just one quarter? Let's see if we can't loosen that change in your pocket bud'
The fact that nitara has 2 different voice actors in MK1, megan fox and a different one for the screams, just keep the one who did the screams
Meagan fox had a lot of lines redone and they sound much better
Just BECAUSE I DRINK BLOOOOD DOESN’T MEAN IM EVIL😢. Bee with an itch please we know and you know what you do and are.
That 2nd voice actor is Christina Velenzeula/ Christina vee. She's a very good voice actress and has done a lot of good projects.

That was a BRILLIANT video. The time just flew by, didn't even notice 2 hours had passed until you started wrapping up. Excellent work, mate, can't wait to see what you do next!
Mk4 over mk2 is Krazy
It's not krazy at all
ps2 mks over mk2 and umk3 is krazy
@@FrogKingTheOnealso pretty damn krazy to think it's not krazy
Nah deception over shaolin monks is crazy
This is the worst MK list I’ve ever seen
This video was a brilliant! Enjoyed it immensely keep up the hard work my friend
Thank you so much mate, really appreciate that! And don't worry to quote Shang Tsung 'It has begun' ;)
Jazzy you did an incredible job on this! All the hard work you put into this was a treat seeing all the passion from another MK fan and I totally wouldn't be opposed to seeing more series in this style!
Thank you so much buddy, I really appreciate that
THE RETURN!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOO Glad to see you're back Jazzy! I hope you are doing well and I cannot wait to enjoy this episode!
To be honest when Warner bros. got involved they're only worried about the movies and not the games. it sucks cause I remember playing the original mortal kombat as a kid and I've played every one since. I wish I still had them all. Thanks brother for giving me a nostalgic time watching this video you rock
I was 12 when MK4 came out, have such a soft spot for it and Tanya was my absolute favourite character.
I never realised that Sub Zero spin off even existed so nice to know where Shinnok came from.
Also, the MK Trilogy vs UMK debate you’ve pretty much solved it. But the absolute pain in the arse of trying to get Smoke in Trilogy definately makes it memorable.
Its rare for me to watch a two hour video in one sitting but you made me do it dude nice video
Amazing video, my dude!
But I lost it at "...The fierce half cat and monster, Baraka" 😂
MK3 was peak Mortal Kombat, Select, Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, A,B,A
@AleksanderCarter *Pops in Mortal Kombat into my Sega Genesis. Games starts. Pressing A, B, A, C, A, B, B at the Code of Honor screen. Text changes color. Scorpion confirms by saying “Get over here!”
Me: “Ok I can play now. There’s blood. Good to go!” 😂
1:37:46 Something similar happened with MKX here in Brazil, where they called Pitty, a singer, to dub Cassie Cage, the results were just as bad as Ronda Rousey
Worst of all was people trying to defend Pitty's casting.
Still haven’t played MK1 and wont until a complete edition is released.
@49:00 Scorpion used his spear in MK 2 as his second fatality. And I'm surprised you mentioned the other alities but never showed them for 2 or 3.
Mk deception and that konquest mode was just something else , and shaolin monks is peak
Amazing return Jazzy, what a fantastic watch that brought back some serious nostalgia for me. Personally loved MK1-MK3 as a kid then didnt pick it back up until the reboot in 2011.
One iconic easter egg that i dont think was mentioned in the video and started from MK2 was the random guy that would pop up on the bottom right of the screen saying 'Toasty!' ...it was hilarious but also if you pressed down and start on your controller (if i remember rightly) you could fight the hidden character Smoke.
Apparently it started off as an inside joke with the devs but there are lots of moments in many of the MK's following MK2 that incorporates the 'Toasty' guy or sound into the game right up to the new MK1 in Johhny cages fatality when he starts the car up.
Mortal lost its identity since MK 11, since SUPERHERO enters the realms as DLC.
You, in the most literal sense, should never be allowed to rate anything...EVER again.
this is one of the many goated videogame videos but i believe the MK1 story is peak i just love the new story’s for old beloved characters
What a nice and in-depth reviews. My first MK was MK4 and has been following the series Non-stop after. You deserve more views and subs, buddy.
damn, I had no idea how much you liked this series, your passion clearly shines throughout this video. It's cool you stepped away to work on something you care so much about, I hope this video performs as well as you hoped in the long term dood. I never got into the series that much myself but I think the later games have some of the coolest cameo character appearances in all of video games and I've always respected the franchise greatly. Well done!
That dance is called a Kata by the way. It’s part of martial arts.
"This video is almost 2 hours long? No way I'm watching all of this!"
Almost 2 hours later...
"Please don't end!"
My kind of video, I was there for the birth of MK in the arcade with my moms change, to MK1 today. Even got a mame machine custom built with all the classics on it. My favorite franchise too :)
Every Scooby-Doo game ever would be such a grind
This might’ve been the most enjoyable mk video I’ve watched, keep it up!
Thank you so much 🥹
@ of course man! I was watching your yakuza videos while playing infinite wealth myself, and while I was editing videos, can’t wait for the next!
Idk what the devs were on when making mkx but the speed in the game is the reason why 90% of us (pros included) keep returning to the game. For mk2 or mk13, they need to keep the graphics from mk1, the customization from 11, the speed and combo options from x, and the modes from 9.
Growing up to this franchise since day one, to this day my favorite game is Mortal Kombat II. Nothing like it. It wasn’t overly cracked out, just enough abilities and movement felt balanced.
Also glad to see the return of the subtitles even if they are a little janky with their timings and some errors but the auto transcribe function can only do so much xP
MK1 hurts me in the same way most Ubisoft games hurt me, there's amazing things going on for the game, a great premise, beautiful visuals, some tight gameplay, potential for some of the best experiences ever...
And then it all gets undermined because WB got cold feet and wanted the line to go up on top of wanting an infinite revenue generator...
I think what you said is indeed the worst part, the game is not bad or terrible, but it could have been, so much more!
Amazing video! I'm happy to see a fellow Deception enjoyer! I pretty much agree with your line up and your video!
Absolutely criminal this video doesn’t have more views
Having UMK3 and MKII out of the top 5 is blasphemy
Those games are only fun in multiplayer, and this was about a single person playing every game. MK2 in particular may be the least fun singleplayer fighting game I've ever played. Other fighting games of the time have cheap AI, but it's the only fighting game I can think of where the AI just flatout doesn't let you play the game properly.
For me the best mortal kombat is only one, Mortal Kombat Trilogy. ❤
After that, MK XL. ❤
That's all.
Deadly Alliance and Deception are the best games in the series imho. 3D era for life!!!
I have to admit, MK4 is my biggest bias of all, because it is my first MK and my *childhood* game. It is absolutely not standing up by quality, or plot, to some others...but I absolutely cherish it and reinstall it every couple years. With Goro, till You not stand still, You are good. 😉
My brother favourite was MORTAL KOMBAT 3 ULTIMATE and he always only wanted to play Cyrax. Mine, ironically as not in MK4, Jade.
Don't forget that Meat was introduced in mk 4 as a secret character
Welcome back Jazzy!
CRAZY VIDEO, LOVE IT!
Happy holidays!
I finished Exodus iron mode btw, after 2 years of not playing 😂 now I am going on Exodus enhanced version, so every single achievement must be done again, including iron mode. Take care my man, nice to see you in my YT notifications again ❤
I really think it would be cool if Mortal Kombat took another shot at making games that are open world or linear where you have a number of characters to play as fighting all kinds of enemies. Basically something like DMC but with more fists and such. The technology in gaming certainly is far more suited to do so now.
Deception and Armageddon is still my favorite. I loved them as a kid and still do.
I still think Deception is the best all around MK game aside from MK9, MKX has the best fighting system
"In 1995 the year i was born" brother my back hurts all of a sudden...
I wish they would give us a new open world campaign mode like in deception.
You didn't mention the, falling down the well continue cycle. 😅 That tune it plays as you plummet is iconic.
I'd actually argue the Neck Stretch is one of the better fatalities solely for being actually memorable....Which is funny given that wasn't the original Fatality concept, It originally was just going to be Quan Chi ripping off their head, but a glitch in the engine caused the Neck to Stretch and they thought it was hilarious and decided to keep it in like that.........Considering It's one of the most commonly mentioned Fatalities not introduced in Original Trilogy, I'd say that was a good idea, I originally hated it myself but discovering that info honestly made me look at it in an entire new way that made me love it.
9:14 tarkatan = half cat 😆😆
great video, enjoyed going down memory lane👍👍
This was great!!! When you have time..can you please do a similar video playing every tekken game? Thanks man..keep up the excellent work. Briught back a lot of memories of being in the arcade when the first mk came out.
You missed that the Vita version of MK9 has a unique guest character in the form of Kratos from God of War.
The first mortal kombat, MK2, MK3, and MK Trilogy are the best as far as the classics go.
my parents did care we play this Trilogy on Sega or Nes on what ever it was on at the time cuz it keep use busy & leave them alone to cook dinner or something we turn out fine
This was an amazing video, Jazzy! I've only played MK9 back on the PSP and I was absolutely terrible at it. It was awesome to see you cover the ENTIRE series from the beginning.
MK 3 DID get a standalone release on PS1. It had a cardboard package. MK Trilogy was a separate thing.
My vote for Series 3: Ratchet and Clank series!
Amazing video, mate! You've earned a sub! Loved the MK series, ever since the SNES with UMK3.
The PS3 version of MK 2011 had Kratos from gow in it as a exclusive release with the game
Mortal kombat 9 i the best according to me. Such a great revitalization of an epic franchise that was on the decline ❤
No. Mortal Kombat 9 isn’t the best according to you. Mortal Kombat 9 is the best according to ME! 😉
1995 For The Goat!❤
D'Vorah killed my girl Mileena. No quarter. 🤣
That said, love this video.
Wow, just wow. I had to split that video into two evenings because of the length but that gave me the chance to look forward to the second part. I kinda missed the Gameboy versions but the rest was absolutely astonishing. Lots of info, lore and gore (sadly cencored during the last installments but I can understand that) and you have quite a nice speaking voice and accent when heard from a native German speaker. Overall, I really enjoyed this video from start to finish (him/her). I can also understand your rating and I loved your hype for specific installments (like Deadly Alliance and Deception). Keep up the good work, I'll most certainly watch out for more series like this from you.
Wtf cinematics look so good/real in Sub zero mythologies. Very unique looking
Return of the goat and with a banger to round out the year!
I did really enjoy it!!! Your list is very similar to mine, although i'm much older and have been playing since original MK in arcades.... so MK3 and UMK3 are my all time favs.
What a wonderful concise love letter to mortal kombat (give or take a couple lol) such a great video jazzy well worth the wait happy new year bud ❤❤
Wait. Does no one remember Kratos being a DLC character in MK9
Trilogy was the best. Most characters and fun as far as OG. But I like Armageddon. The fatalities were boity though. Should have had personalized ones..
2010 to 2016 was peak mortal kombat grateful to have experienced those years
Hell nah, 1992 to 1995 and 2002 to 2007 was peak MK, X being an exception because of the fighting system. You just had to be there for the older ones
@ I only made that comment to take a jab at MK11, but I grew up with Deception and Shaolin Monks. Those were simpler times. I wish I was able to experience the arcade days, but I only played the console versions with my brother.
man, deadly alliance brings back so many memories. i loveddddd that game
Thank you for this masterpiece of MK Content 🙏🏼♥️
What a great vid!! Thank you! My top five are X, 9, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Trilogy!
My brother got me MK 11 ultimate for my birthday. Deadly alliance and 3 are my favs
Amazing video btw definitely need to check out some of the older games I haven't played yet😊
27:27 bro quan really cane out of nowhere with that😂😂😂
A lovely video. I had a ton of fun watching it. I'm glad you're back mate and I can't wait to see what's in store in the future
Great job 🎉 it was great to watch it have a few things you missed out on... no big deal I'll give one example mk has the first hidden character ever made..there's a few other things I was hoping for a Lil more history
Grind Idea? WWE?
The only issue is WWE 2K20 is a buggy piece of shit!
You earned my subscription sir. Well put together and entertaining
just wanted to point out your looking great jazzy!!! dunno if you were trying to lose weight or anything along those lines but from a guy whos been watching from your first video honestly your doing amazing keep it up!!!
Kratos was in mk9 and came before freddy
not much of a MK fan anymore but I loved this vid, watched to the end.
I'm sorry .. but no .. Mortal Kombat Advance was not "fine" ... it was a travesty lmao
MK9 is the best game series ever made. The flawless presentation of the entire basic story, the characters, the voices, the way the story is told, cannot be surpassed. Or maybe with a remastered edition :)
Kratos being a guest and exclusive kharacter in mk9 is still one of my favourite things that has ever happened in Mortal kombat series
Just subscribed to your channel and want to commend you for your effort on this video alone. In today's age of infinite constantly new content, I think a 30 minute video this well done, doesn't always get the credit it deserves for the time you invested to make it. Good job sir 👍🏻
Videos like this are exactly what I need when try a new series.
Shout out to all day 1 MK fans
For me nothing beats MK9, the gameplay the looks and most important of all the body damage system that never returned, are top tier.
Tekken. If you're gonna do fighting games, please do Tekken. I'm godawful at it but it's the only fighting game series that has ever caught my interest and the Tekken 6 arcade version helped in getting me through a really fucking rough time in my life. Wasn't the main contributor, but it helped significantly.
So I've never actually played a Tekken before, but don't worry, it's DEFINITELY on the list!
I remember the summer when MK4 was released and the machine was brand new in the arcade, it was so intimidating, i was like 7 yo, the animation of the character falling when you lost was mind bending!... I remember playing with Sonya the first time... The sound effects and the voice of the announcer... The brand new 3D technology... You really have to be there... This was such an amazing video although my ranking is quite different, our opinions are pretty much the same...
I've played Mortal Kombat 4...there was certainly an endurance mode. Also, apart from the projectile weapons on the floor, every character has a unique weapon they can unsheath with some button inputs.
While I may not agree with absolutely everything about the rankings, this list - and your thought process - was so candid and refreshing to see. There is so little new thought in terms of seeing these games as anything but "lol MK special forces is so bad, watch my video" or "I grew up around the time MKII was in the arcades so it's the best one, watch my video", so to have someone completely detached from any of that make the observations you have a refreshing glass of water.
Hi, I'm the weirdo that doesn't like MKX as much as MK9.
mk9 overall has more replayability and the tone felt more like the classic mk's, also having every character have one move list with no restrictions to special moves made for more interesting and broken combos
Great video!
It’s weird how in 95 they tried banning it but it remained. Here in 2025 you can’t even show the gameplay not because of laws, only because of ad revenue?! Yes the world is truly getting better…
Corporations are doing what authoritarian regimes never could
Enforce restrictions through incentives
I laughed when you called Kata "this weird dance". It's a real thing in martial arts and works both as a showing of your form and a way to memorize it.
I'd love to see you play all of the Pikmin games, I know there's not a lot, but man I love those little games! 😊
Special Forces I completely agree with. I've played thru it multiple times. Its actually kinda a fun little adventure with Jax once you learn it. It becomes darker and more MK like as you progress into it.
