- Bodycam footage shows the moments leading up to an Ohio police officer Ricky Anderson shooting a man appearing to be holding a vape pen on August 30. The Columbus Police Department said the incident occurred when officers attempted to serve the man, 20-year-old Donovan Lewis, an arrest warrant for improperly handling a firearm, assault and domestic violence.

ROFL! I thought the same thing.
The door was closed that's why he kept coming back what do you want the dog to do kick the door in? He did his job.
@@mrjaybennett80 stay there and bark as they are trained to. Since that was the command.
Not the command that Said come here. Which wasn't said. But the dog followed anyways. Like a bad dog. Because they didn't say bark then come back. They said to go there and stay.
He did not stay. Bad dog

The officer oeeoking thought he window even saw it, and he was from a different angle.

Bro was sleeping.... imagine waking up thinking someone came to get you but it's just the police about to kill you
so the police never announced they had a warrant? if cops dont have a warrant you dont have to answer the door! Im ruling against the police on this 1.
Not necessarily true, they don’t have a search warrant, but they do have an arrest warrant. Given that this is the subject’s residence and that the first thing they asked was where the wanted man is. They are clearly trying to identify where the suspect is for apprehension. They Knocked and announced, and said we are looking for this guy, is he here. They don’t have to show a warrant to the occupants because the warrant doesn’t pertain to them, same for a search warrant. You show the homeowner and thats that. That is why they were removed and detained so they could clear the residence out.
IMO unless it’s a hardened criminal that is out here hurting people in anyway
Warrants should be held during the day
I suffer from night terrors and wake up VERY disoriented
Aww Poor baby. Still scared of the boogeyman huh?
@@anthonyapril85 you’re on the internet saying “awe poor baby”, a loser
Disoriented for 5+ mins after waking up? Because you know he was awake that whole time right? Lol
All that noise and dog barking, I doubt he was asleep or awakened at that moment they opened the door.
Thats the idea..best way to catch them at home
I've asked my self a lot of times if my vaping could be deadly... now I know the answer 😳
Just another person who don’t want to comply, with a sad ending. People making excuses like he didn’t hear anything, acting like his friends didn’t let him know. He just didn’t want to go to jail. People with common sense know this.
PART 2.. in the video while they are outside talking, the one cop called the girl who pressed charges 10 days ago and advised she no longer lived there. There was no immediate threat. Everything they did was Improper.. they did not confirm if he lived there prior to entry. No warrant visible nor did they advise they had one. They did not know who was in that room.
Heck even the dog was confused 😕
.
Lol the dog was confused
At this point holding anything can get you killed by cops. Wow
well his buddies were arrested with out incident
If they had a search warrant then why wouldn't they just kick in the door? I don't think they had one!?!?!
@Mac Gyver You American?
They didn't ... Don't listen to that bs . Ask them to present a warrant if one is not presented the door is not unlocked
I was searching for the " he should've complied" comments.....but you all are actually calling things for as they are...... Good job for living in reality!
It goes to show that people and commenters are fair. So in other videos if they do comment "he should've complied" then they probably should've complied.
Unbelievable! Since they didn’t announce a search warrant or kick the door in as soon as they got there I assume there was no search warrant. So they is straight up murder.
It was a felony arrest
They had an arrest warrant
@@hefywefy5331 an arrest warrant doesn't allow them inside
@@hefywefy5331 arrest warrant is not a search warrant doesn't carry the same weight. How fast that cop reholstered makes me believe he didn’t intend to fire his weapon. If he truly fired because he thought his life was in danger why did he immediately reholster? Insecure men with guns: a deadly combination
That's a great way to put it
I've never heard a cop knock the way he did and I've encountered having few cops knock at the door enough to know how they always knock. Thes men are very unprofessional
2:21 is how one of my buddies would knock smh
Just imagine of all the stuff that we didn't know about before cameras were around and had clear quality
If they had a k9 send the dog in. That’s their purpose. This guy would likely still be alive if they did so. If he had a gun or other weapon he’d likely use it on the dog and then their use of force would be justified. America is just insane with how things get done down there.
They shouldn’t be risking the dogs life
@@Maximus90277
i kinda agree but to get to the core of it, they should have handled that differently, in a way that doesnt end with shoot on sight :/

@@Maximus90277 so they can risk a human life??
That dogs a tool, they just use that "the dogs an officer" jive to put more charges on you for injuring their property, yet they'll put the dog down when he becomes useless 🕵️🤷
1st off a arrest warrant does not give you the right to enter into the premises you have to have A search warrant for that. These cops need to learn the laws that they are hired to enforce
Very true ... I watch this trend alot seen some rlly good cops .. this squad is like .. unprofessional btw he couldn't kick the door in . That's a lie .. I can't comply to someone who can actively lie to me . My safety is without a doubt in high jeopardy . All commands must be lawful and truthful for my compliance
Get the bad guy any way they can!!!! Iam fine with it
Actually if you have an active warrant they can come on to your property, enter your residence and arrest you.
Sounds like you need to study and learn the law🤦
Say your fine with it , Im fine with prosecuting the arresting officers anyway they can as well . Couple years in jail couple 100k pay checks to cash when your out again ? Doesn't sound bad . When your out to spend it those who arrested you won't be !! 👍
why don t you become a cop
That knock was the silliest in the most serious situation

I would’ve never opened up the door. Let them kick it down if they have a warrant! 🤷🏻♂️
Why would you want a broken door??
The fact that the video cuts off speaks volumes.

They never said they had a search warrant or arrest warrant. they just kept on saying they were the police and they were coming in like it or not
Arrest warrant is what they had, and yes..they can enter to serve it.
They did not have a search warrant! He had an arrest warrant! Two different things my Boy!
If the police knock on your door you have to answer. You don’t have to let them in, but once they serve the warrant you have to. They gave these guys every chance.
It is at least said warrant that's all I was saying
@@okbouncer24 you know an arrest warrant allows them to enter the guys resident right??? or did you not know that at all

They knocked on that door for over 10 mins, that was annoying AF
I didn’t see him resisting
The police knew he owned a gun, he wasn’t coming out of his room despite 10 minutes of yelling and dog barking. He had something in his hands (who sleeps holding a vape pen in their hands)? The cops mistook it for a gun.

They were literally there because of improper handling of a firearm. They had every reason to believe at least someone had a gun in the apartment. Also, handguns aren't as accurate as you think. This isn't call of duty
I've literally never seen an apartment complex that dirty on the outside and I've been to multiple Studio 6 apartments which I thought (until now) was essentially the most run down place you could get.
You have not been around much then. I am astounded by your comment. Go to downtown L. A. or poke around Memphis or any big city and you will see much, much, much worse. That place is sanitary compared to places where I had to handle calls.
I haven't watch the fully thing yet but I like how calm the cop was when the guy came out I like how calm they both were and it wasn't all screaming and yelling and brutality and stuff
The officer wearing the bodycam needs removed from the force. His actions throughout this footage is totally unprofessional
Right
i thought the guy with the k9 was way wayyy more unprofessional….. literally screaming at the detainee, while the called officer was trying to make sure the house was clear???
literally so many faults in this scene, but the officer yielding the body cam was far from troublesome and i think he did a great job given the circumstances. god bless.
You mad good job officer
why cuz he burped and was singing
It took one second of the door opening he didn't have time to see anything. He saw the pen later. Guilty.

why make sudden moves when you know they are coming. he should have had his back to them with his hands up or on his head. there should be an aptitude test for criminals.
