It's because driving school doesn't teach it realistically. They leave you a 20m gap to parallel park in, same in the driving test, the gap is long enough for a semi to parallel park into it 😂 and then people have their license but can't do simple maneuvers
@@rossrobson1045 its very simple, if u can parallel park on the driving test then u can do it anywhere. depending where but some test actually make u parallel park on the streets with other cars

LOOK AROUND Go to reverse gear Line up car with car in front of where you want to park Wheel to left full lock Wait til kerb disappears wheel to right full lock Straighten wheel
My friend is learning to drive and her instructor says a drain (about 1 foot) distance is fine, my view is if it’s a foot or more away from curb you’ve just stopped the car and not parked
The fact that even she was like “this is a pretty tight spot…” but this is the amount of space my dps gives you to parallel park in your test… hence why I failed my first try.
Ive been teaching my son to drive, but couldnt explain a good way to parallel park. Saw this video, tried it myself... Amazing! Took son out, explained it once and he nailed it first time! I might tell him at some point that it wasn't my idea😉😂. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@@shadow_k1ng277 that’s not true, they prefer you to keep a distance on the test for some reason on the test. In real life obviously get as close to the kerb as possible.
Passed my test a long time ago so I might be wrong but if you are parked further from the kerb it's easy to get close when you are into the space. Or can't you do that on the test
In the UK they would not ask you to park between two cars like this on the test. They ask you to park behind a single car, and if you can finish safely within 50cm of the kerb you would pass.
Watching this video after making a balls out of trying to parallel park today. I’ve been driving for 16 years and always try to avoid it. They should really include parallel parking in the driving test in Ireland, instead of doing a stupid reverse around the corner 😂
Thank you. Strangely this wasn't mentioned by my instructors. Will i fail my test if a car is around and i miss signing to the left while I'm carrying out parking? Thanks for the reply.
You might fail, if there is any confusion over what you are doing that leads towards danger. Why not signal clearly so everyone understands what you are trying to do? That’s the same principle as indicating before we turn or change lanes etc
So I can't understand why the big cars have to squeeze always in, like look for another spot where you don't threaten to damage one of the cars or the other one maybe is not so good and you squeeze him maybe between you and someone else
You did not explain to people in detail about the reference points. At what point are the reference points? Yes, one can watch the video; however more specific is best. At what reference point and when looking for it, what is it?
Where are the observations that’s question? People are saying she is so distant from the curb which might be a fair thing to stress on but observations all around the car is vital otherwise it is a straight fail.
I would say the distance was ok but for some reason she skipped the straighten the wheels after the 45 degree so she could of got closer to the kerb then when closer full lock.
This method works fine for any space that is 1.5 times the length of your car. We would not recommend using smaller spaces than that, as the risk of damaging both vehicles is too high.
An an driving instructor myself. I wanna say that there its a reason why she didnt show us the position of the car in the end. Its because was too far away. But then why you didnt make another video instead just to avoid making yourself to look like a clown?
It’s because a RUclips ‘short’ video must be less than 60 seconds so we run out of time! Click the link for the full video where everything is shown. 👍🏼
You start way too far for the parked car. You have to basically be almost against the parked car in front to start with. Also, in real life, you would be blocking two lanes while doing this....

In INDIA that much space we park two car
Now try and parallel park with a semi, or lorry as our friends across the pond say.
