Strange race with surprising variations in straight line speed and passing. Looks like an exhibition. That Monza is an awesome car though.

That Monza (built as a Sports Sedan in 1977 by then Bob Jane Racing chief spanner Pat Purcell and converted to this GT spec in 1982 when driven by Peter Brock) still lives to this day, although not as a Monza. By 1989 Bryan Thompson had decided that the Monza body was getting old so he had his business partner Peter Fowler (Thompson-Fowler motorsport who also built that awesome 1000 hp twin turbo Mercedes Chev) re-body it into a 1989 Toyota Supra. Thommo then promptly put it up for sale and it was eventually snapped up by Sydney sports sedan racer Des Wall who raced it with some success for a number of years until his death from cancer. The car, still a Supra with a 6.0L V8 Chev, is now owned by Wall's son David, himself a sometime V8 Supercar driver.
David Wall toyed with the idea of restoring the car to a Monza, but decided to keep it as a Supra as a tribute to his dad.

@@Holden308 awesome details, thanks. I can understand the family connection to the Supra body but the Monza was a so exciting for me.
