The thing is people got used to the idea of buy once and it goes forever. This is an unsustainable model for a business as a whole. People expect support, people expect the company to be around forever, but then are shy to pony up the money to help sustain a company. Nice tutorial of Soundswitch made my go out and purchase for myself. I do have some criticism of your video log which will dramatically improve your video if you go back and do a part two putting in info and showing how to get started with Soundswitch by starting with the integration of how to connect Soundswitch with the DJ Software for example their are several steps needed in Serato DJ Pro before you can just plug and play. This is just one example only here to help improve and provide some help for future purchaserer of SoundSwitch. This Light Software is cutting edge technology will definitely be a game changer for mobile DJ's. Keep up the great videos and tutorials you earned my subscription.
How does this software adapt to services like Tidal? Some DJ's supplement their libraries with streaming services to satisfy on location requests. Does this software only work for previously analyzed or programmed light shows?
So I asked the support and they told me that soundswitch only works with programmed lightning shows which takes a lot of time to get it good or auto loops. However they don't respond to your beat. They are just randomized if you don't actively choose one. I think soundswitch is nice if you really want to nail down a great programmed light show apart from that it's not really worth it.
I’ve never used this program before, but if you could feed the signal from Spotify through a virtual audio device and then send that signal to this program, maybe that would work?
So Soundswitch activates your lights while the music fader is openend. But what do you do if you need some light while no muic is playing, e.g. speeches, games etc. Do you need to program an "empty" song without music but with the lights you need?
Not sure if you got an answer elsewhere but I can give you a bit of info about that. There is a standalone option for soundswitch where you can override the light shows happening. Works well with a midi controller. So basically you can set separate static scenes (like if the wedding you're playing at has a red/white scene and you want that scene during cocktail/reception then you can press your midi controller or click on the screen). Also good for making blinder, blackout and strobe scenes with the option of it to be toggled or just pressed. And once you don't need those scenes and want the lights to match the music again then you just untoggle the scene. Here's a video on how to do it! ruclips.net/video/s1hmVOJK4Gg/видео.html
We didn't have any issues using it here but it is entirely dependent on the spec of the computer you're using. Providing you have enough ram and a reasonably strong processor you should be fine, it's worth checking the recommended system requirements of the two programs and then aiming a bit above if you plan to run both.
Great video--thanks! Sucks this can't be used with Rekordbox, all I hear is negative comments about the RB DMX so I'm not sure how this is so much better or different?
